Car running, dogs in car, air conditioning maxed, stuck in said Beer Cave now 10 minutes with founding member of Hee Haw -- using every exiting line I know. I hadn't paid much mind to the amount of lottery played down here and BIG T's is a most popular spot for this indirect way of taxing the poor, so little do they see. Tuesday's jackpot is 1.6 zillion? I played $6.00 of numbers, not trying to be hypocritical here. All indications from outside do not tell of the well laid out interior, aisles well stocked and well marked, floors as clean as you coukd hope for. Very easy going and patient counter help, as the place was all a buzz with lotto fever and thirsty Saturday afternoon beer drinkers.

First the Parkers Kitchen or Gas Station looks fairly new so the filling area and parking are extremely clean. There are wash basins at each pump so everyone can clean their windshields. The prices seem to be updated real time so their gas is going to be market priced just like any other major gas station. As far as getting out, as long as you're going one way it's easier otherwise it can be an adventure. Walking inside it's like.... Like walking into a gas station in Napoleon Dynamite, extremely sterile and ominously quiet. I mean it's cleaned, well stocked and clearly laid out but void of character as if intentionally life draining. Sorry, it's just the vibe I picked up on. They have standard snacks and drinks. Versions of Mt Dew, lots of types of beer, chips by the bagful. They have a very clean and extensive soft drink station, enough to satisfy the most persnickety of kids. That said, their little food station smelled pretty good. Now before I moved to Texas and walked into Buc-ees I never EVER ordered "homemade" food from a gas station; NEVER. However I've since softened that stance. While I didn't indulge this particular visit, they did have some aroma's that tempted me, such as freshly fried chicken. I did note that cigarettes here were more expensive than other stores. I'm not sure if I like how they have their checkout. It seems a bit interesting with one, somewhat aloof attendant manning three self-checkout stations. My mind believes the model will work yet it was going slow on this day. So the jury is out. Overall, a gas station has to really go far out to entice me to do anything other than my normal "gas station stop ritual" which is buy gas then leave. Parkers is clean and a safe spot but it has a weird middle of nowhere vibe. As far as what 90% of us do, this is a great place to stop in.

Watching the attendant operate the knuckle buster sliding imprint machine in the cold weather was always a treat, twas impressive. Once inside I was taken by the number of employees scurrying around, performing their tasks -- it looked like Star Trek Enterprise as three separate colored shirts identified rank. (Well, not really.. it was training day and shirt colors are the employee's choice) Spinny, spinny, spinny -- those pizzas and hot dogs spun like a spinning top, in the horizontal method. Can't say I partook, but I watched them for a while wishing for a bit of an appetite and carousel music, but none ever came to me. Icey chilly brewskies -- and bar none -- the cleanest bathrooms anywhere I have been and will gladly attest to. Fully equipt with the Accelerator machine that can blow paint off a wall. This machine is somewhat curious to me and slightly troubling at the same time. I'll spare y'all the reasons why -- but I've got reasons -- disturbed and irrational? Perhaps, but with all I observe and think about -- it all fits.

My grandmother used to braise gizzards until they were tender and then would cook them and the broth in rice. I need to figure out how to make them the same way. Anyway, I stopped by and bought an order of gizzards for my mom. They were tough but tasty. Next time we will try their fried chicken. The crust on the gizzards was really good.

I'm going to start from the very first time I visited the store right after it opened. My 1st…read moreexperience wasn't so great as far as the gas pumps go. I paid for $20 worth of gas and didn't think I had to check my gas gage to make sure the gas went in the tank. So I pumped the gas and pulled off got on the interstate and happened to look down and then realized that my gas gage never moved. I'm thinking my car's gage is messed up and nope I paid for $20 worth of air in my tank. Couldn't very well go back because I already drove about 10-15mins down the road and didn't think they would honor it. So I took that loss and decided to give them another chance. It happened again, but this time I checked before I even fully cranked my car up. So they did honor it this time and I've been coming back for all my needs since. Also, I drive for a living so I frequent all kinds of gas stations, but I try my best to find a Parkers before others. I really like the atmosphere in most of them, but not all. I've come across some truly mistreated ones. The College Park Rd one is by far my favorite out of all of them. I believe it starts with the management at any work environment to have a very good work environment. If the employees are treated right and with respect, but also held to a certain standard then they'll do the job and want to show up and be respectful to Everyone. The manager over the College Park store is really awesome I see her working right along with her employees, talking to them about whatever they need to talk about or what needs to be done and so on. I've watched her run the kitchen, work the floor, train employees, take deliveries all while talking to the customers and helping them during the process or her staff will jump right in and take over whatever she needs them to. They're all a truly wonderful team in that store and I always recommend the store to anyone whom may ask or don't ask I tell them anyway to go to the Parkers on College Park Rd you'll be happy with the service and the cleanliness. Parkers just FYI that's one manager that you need to hang on to at all cost because she knows what she's doing and she does it very well!
