Google this place before you come here so you know you're in the right place and don't end up driving towards the other side of Jasper to find your hotel! (That's obviously not what we did....) We ended up checking in at 1am. The place is super dark. There's not a single street light in the parking lot and with the humongous mountains on both sides, the experience was pretty eerie. There's only one staff member working at that time but he was kind enough to lend us a flashlight so that the rest of the members could disembark and carry our luggage in some light. Although the "hotel" portion is only on the 3rd floor at the Columbia Icefield centre since the first 2 floors are for the centre, our room was two floors. For a 4 people booking, we got a queen sized bed on the bottom and two twin beds upstairs. The place was super comfortable and cozy (perhaps it was the 2am settling down that made me fall asleep so quickly). Despite it having no cell service here, there is wifi at the inn. Just get it from the front desk. I had this fascination that I wanted to see the sun rise at the mountains cause heck, I'm waking up smack dab in the middle of literally the mountains so why not! The day was cloudy with light showers so the view wasn't the same as the beauty we saw the day before :( For breakfast, you'll probably be having it at the second floor cafe unless you're planning on driving out to Banff or Jasper to have breakfast! There's only two places so that's all the options you get. Of course, since this space is open to the people visiting the Columbia Icefield centre, don't expect kind prices. The panini I got in the morning was around $14 and it definitely was not worth it's money. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It wasn't a terrible experience but the dining options could be better!

The location is a selling point. The bungalows are on a fast moving River frequently visited by elk, deer and the occasional bear. This is not a big chain hotel environment with modern amenities, there is no air conditioning and the rooms are rustic and out dated. Wifi was spotty along with phone & cable service. This winter the bungalows are slated for upgrades, air conditioning will be added. We wandered to the gazebo along the river, it was a cool breezy place to sit & admire the snow capped mountains & rambling river. We enjoyed Chris the naturalist's 8:00 program about the animals in Jasper. They have an friendly, professional & fascinating international staff from France, Chile, Mexico & Australia.. The Jasper House Bungalows were established in 1956, on picturesque property overlooking the Athabasca River. The original 28 units were built by Austrian John Woldrich & Italian immigrants, one of whom was Forabosco. John & Josie Forabosco bought Jasper House in 1977 expanding to 56 bungalows. The family ran Jasper House Bungalows for 35 years until 2011 when John sold it to the Decore brothers who renovated the properties. The seasonal property is opened from May Thanksgiving. The Elk Village Restaurant on site offers breakfast & dinner in their lodge dining room. We were treated to a steak dinner with mashed potatoes, corn & a berry tart. A buffet breakfast was provided daily from 7 until 9: 00. Patio seating is available as well as a few grocery, backpacking and off sale items. A happy hour from 4:00 until 6:00pm offers discounted cocktails, appetizers and assorted tacos.

This was a very comfortable room, and I wouldn't mind either staying in this one again or trying another one here. Love this inn! Highly recommended!

Our side wasn't that big, but it felt cozy rather than cramped. We loved all the window options - for light, a switch controlled the shade for a large top window, and many of the others could be twisted open to let fresh air in and had screens for bugs. We slept with the window above the bed cracked to allow a nice breeze in since there's no A/C. The gas fireplace was extremely easy to use as well, preferable to the wood option I saw in other upscale lodges around here. I didn't mind no TVs in the room as it went with the serenity vibes, but the spotty wifi was annoying. Even in the main lodge, I could not do certain things on my tablet. No gift shop, no spa, just a completely introspective experience they're going for. There is a little lake you can sit by lined with classic Canada red chairs, which is very peaceful, though the water is so cold. Now to dining... the food was outstanding! They use seasonal/local ingredients which can change the menu from day to day. We were part of a larger travel group, and everyone was raving. Standout dishes from the party: Duck Confit Gnocci appetizer, Venison Tenderloin entree, and Carrot Cake dessert.
