Great little animal clinic, I will say that I reached out to them originally as there aren't that many clinics that do 'Certificate of Health' for pet air travel. Yet, I did have my dogs get a checkup/microchipped here, but ultimately I didn't use them for the certificate of health as they actually referred me to a different veterinary; a military veterinarian which ended up saving me an insane amount of money. They honestly didn't have to say anything, and could have been greedy. Yet, the fact is that they looked out for the client at the end of the day; and just did what was best for us. We used this vet office for 15 years, but ever since they moved buildings and became a hospital, we notice a dramatic increase in costs. Every time we would take an animal in for various reasons, we would be presented with an estimate invoice for $500 to $1,000. We would have to argue with them about only doing what is truly necessary and felt they wanted to shame us into doing more tests. We took our 16 year old dog in last November for a UTI. They suggested an ultrasound, an x-ray, and blood work. That was a $900 invoice. We asked if we could just start with the $35 antibiotic, and after much arguing, they said they at least had to do an ultrasound. $650. 40 days later her UTI returned, of course, on a Sunday. I called and asked if I could get a new antibiotic. The woman on the phone said they required an exam if over 30 days, exam on Sunday $171. She stated there was absolutely no way around this. So, we take our dog back in and again they wanted to run blood work and x-rays. UGH. Just give me a new antibiotic. Nope, needed to run bloodwork for $230. Total invoice the week of Christmas, $530. They called four days later and said the bloodwork was fine. Guess what, the new $35 antibiotic took care of it. This was not the only time we felt the focus was not on care, but how much can we bill. We now go to Meadowbrook Animal Hospital and give them 5 stars!!! Our first visit was to get an allergy shot for one of our dogs. Total cost $150. Very reasonable, and the care was fantastic! read more

I boarded my dog at Gladstone animal clinic and I feel she received the best care while she was there. Everyone was super friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. The check-in process was smooth and quick. The kennel person came out and talked to me before taking my pet back. When I went to pick her up at the end of the boarding, the same kennel person came out to tell me how well she did. I know that while I was gone my dog was not only safe, but also had the opportunity to run and play. I will definitely be using Gladstone animal clinic again for my boarding needs. read more

Would not recommend them. Without going into a lot of detail, the vet who treated my dog could not decide for sure what my dog actually was suffering from when I took him in. I also did not like the ay they were handling my cat. this cat was being prescribed meds for asthma and should have never been given a gas anesthesia to sedate him just to get a blood draw!! I think other methods could have been used and should have and this vet is really acting like they could care less. I would tell everyone to avoid this vet at all costs. We have been coming here for almost 40 years. We have seen some great Vets over the years. The two bests were Dr. Barr and Dr. Schlager. Ever since Dr. Schlager retired this place has gone downhill. They have jacked up their prices and started pushing pet insurance. They are more concerned about the dollar than they are about the animal or owner. They make no effort to make personal connection with the pet owners. Everyone seems to be following some employee rule book. I thought the pet owners had final say on how their pet was treated. We hoped thinks would get better over the past couple years, but they have only gotten worse. We are moving on. She needed to have her little dog put down....First they had to charge her for an, "End of Life Exam". When she ask if she could take him home and spend a couple of days with him, they said she would have to pay for another, "End of Life Exam", when she came back. I had to have a dog put to sleep at Blue Pearl, and they let me take her home and spend a day with her first. I have NEVER heard of an, "End of Life Exam"!!! Over a hundred dollars. We have had to do it at a few places, and they were always respectful, but not here. You could hear all of the employees out front laughing and talking. I finally stepped out and ask them to shut up!!! I said, we are having a dog euthanized in here and you could just show a little respect! What a horrible place this is. All I can do is pass the word to everyone that I know. I had my experience there a couple of years ago when an ignorant vet told a degrading joke about Donald Trump. I don't care what his political stance was, just knew he wasn't smart enough to take care of my dog! I have read some of your reviews on Yelp....you people totally suck! For few weeks I thought my cat was going to leave me, because he was slowly loosing weight due to his age. Puffy is about 17yrs old. He wasn't eating as much, and I can feel his bones though he act very normal and responsive. I took him to a hospital first to get bloodwork done on him. It was showing he had high Calcium level, so the doctor gave him a Thyroid test as well. The result was negative, and I was also recommended to give Puffy an ultrasound to further diagnose the issues. I didn't believe my first doctor, because I told her I fed Puffy Gluecosime supplements with calcium included treats 30mins prior check up, and she replied with it wouldn't have elevated the level. On top of that, Puffy needs teeth cleaning with X-Ray. That will cost me around $2500 or more. I love my cat, but doesn't mean that I am gullible. I found Gladstone Animal clinic on Yelp, and it was close to home. I had doctor Carl checked on Puffy, he also recommended teeth cleaning and X-Ray first. That would save me money on the bloodwork because it was required for anaesthesia. I wouldn't need to run bloodwork twice. The price range was $600-$1600 for teeth cleaning X-Ray, anaesthesia, and possible extractions. I came back few weeks later, and tried to schedule an appointment with Doctor Carl, but I ended up with Dr. Standley. He gave me a different quote, it was around $400-$1200. He also mentioned his previous bloodwork was boring, and stated that it was most likely his teeth that was causing him not eating well. I was told that Puffy may be loosing muscle mass, because he is an older cat. I was super happy, and relieved to know that he is healthy. I was worried for awhile, and cried often because I thought my cat is dying. He is my world, and I wasn't ready to let him go. Dr. Standley is now my go-to. I brought my other cat to see him, because she had a scratching issue. She is a lot better at the moment after the steroid shot. He stated she has an allergy issue and will need to submit her for allergy exams if scratching continues. As for Puffy, he is very healthy. 2nd bloodwork with Calcium level showing normal. He loves outdoors, and still travels 3-4 weeks out of the month with me. He also gained weight after teeth cleaning, and his breath doesn't smell as bad. I only had to paid a little over $600 for his visits. Thank you Dr. Standley for your honestly. This world needs more doctors like you. Gladstone Animal clinic is the best. Most doctors I had tried to rip me off, because they knew how much we love our pets, and will try to spend the money. I'm thrill to find a doctor that I can finally trust. read more

My Yorkie needed a kill shot to end his suffering. Instead of doing that the vet did a full exam, writing down his 12 years history of health issues. I told him to stop just give the shot. Didn't need analysis. Instead they decided to give us a bill of over $500. I kept telling them to stop but my husband in his grief paid the outrageous amount. Included propothol and cremation. Brought our Beardie into the office for a consultation on if it was time to put him down. He was with us for 15 years. Saw the vet and decided to proceed as he had a great life. Assistant then came in for me to sign two releases which was fine. Then came in 10 minutes later and said we needed go out to pay at the front desk right then before they gave him the shot. Was appalled at the demand but complied as my son was with me and our pet. Then 10 minutes later the assistant came in and said we could not be present which was what we requested in the initial conversation. There was no empathy or understanding by either the assistant or vet. I only took him there because they supposedly specialized in exotics. It's obvious they only care about getting their $170. I was new to the area and my dog got very sick on a Sunday night. This vet was closest to me and the animal hospital on a Monday morning. I got there almost as soon they opened and even though they had other appointments, everyone on staff acted with urgency to help my little buddy. Dr. Roberts was my vet and he did a great job explaining everything and was so sweet with my dog. He even called me with updates because I had to leave him over night. My dog is 100% better and I have decided to take him there as a regular patient. Thank you so much during a very scary time for us! (Also a plus is that it was affordable. Our dog has an infected wound and they shaved around it without asking us first and then charged an extra $33 for doing so. The doctor also wrote the wrong prescription after we told him which antibiotic we wanted and we waited 45 minutes for a new one... I'm sure this clinic is fine but DONT come here during the pandemic. Total waste of time. Totally was nearly $200 and we saved $60 by filling our prescription at HyVee instead of here. Went in for 2nd opinion on my aging Shih Tzu, saw young female vet who only works part time. Very sweet, very informative. Tried her suggestions, but alas, that didn't help my dogs cough either. The place is filthy. Doesn't look like it has been cleaned or painted in years. Does not look sterile at all. Then they know they have you when you are in the office in an emergency and jam you with the bill. Then they told us the removal of staples were free, full well knowing sedation would be needed as it was needed for the staples. We came back on the new forms I saw that they were going to charge us again and I asked and they said yes they would need to for the sedation. Again they knew this and told us otherwise. We have been going to this vet for few years. Our lab was older gal, maybe 12 when we switched to this vet. The care they gave her in her golden years as a relatively healthy lady with some age typical issues was wonderful. When she died they sent a card hand signed by many of their staff, and it really touched us. We have since taken our kitty as well as our new dog. We have used Gladstone Animal Clinic for more than 25 years and have always had great care. Dr Richards has always been our vet for our dog and cats. He was there for us when it came time to make decisions about our pets. The staff is very nice and helpful. We recently had to board our cats while on vacation(something we've never had to do) and our older cat became sick and the vet was on the phone with us immediately. I have use this clinic faithfully since I brought my service dog home from training. Today, I placed a call because that same service dog is sick. they told me that they have curbside service and would come pick my dog up, take him back, and care for him. Once they were done, they would bring him back out to me. I agree to this and let them know that I was also sick. As soon as they heard this, they immediately refused to treat my dog. They refuse to talk to me about any kind of other alternatives, just refused to treat him. I called around and discovered that a local veterinary emergency clinic, (BluePearl), would be willing to treat him. I have taken our dogs to Gladstone Animal Clinic for over a decade. The doctors are knowledgeable, up-to-date, and kind. From the front desk staff to the vet techs and kennel attendance, all of the staff really cares for their pet-customers. They keep owners apprised of requirements and risks, but understand budget issues and never try to 'sell' something a pet doesn't need. Dr. Carr especially is very patient with my two senior citizen dogs. The older one actually gets crazy-happy when she is told she is going to see the doctor! I have also boarded the dogs at Gladstone. They have received excellent care and always returned happy; in fact, the younger of the two is much more socially adapted after a few times of boarding there. read more

The final straw is when we needed 2 cats to be fixed... around $400. NO PRICE BREAK ON 2 CATS FOR LONG TIME CUSTOMERS..... even in this economy. They were really snotty about it when we asked. Within about 6 months before, we had just spent lots of money (over $1000) on a cat that had to be put down due to cancer... we asked if they could wave the fee for the shot (I think it was only like $25), but nope.. they looked at us like we were crazy. Never again will we darken the doorstep at this place... For those who don't mind the travel... go to KC Spay and Neuter... $100 for both cats to be neutered... great place...great people read more
