I honestly love these guys. I've been going with this place for over 20 years. They taken such good care of Nikki (Rott),Harley (Cane Corso ),EmmaAnn, and Leah (our Shih Tzu's) . When it came time where I had to lay two of my baby down, because they had no quality of life left. They genuinely made me feel at ease with Nikki. Unlike the one off 291 when it was Emma's time. The other clinic tried to get me to further my 17-year-old Shih Tzu's life , by trying to get me to order x-rays , to see if I could further her life even further. Just a little history she was blind,deaf, and wasn't able to hold her bladder anymore. Leaving me feeling guilty for putting her down. If it wasn't for my son saying something to the doctor, I probably would have left without going through laying her to rest. I will never go through that again! Independence Animal Hospital , was caring, gave us our time, didn't rush us out of the room, while my family and I lay with her as she went to sleep. I left there feeling at ease. They made me feel I was doing the right thing.Which speaks volumes to me. After experiencing the traumatic experience with the other place. So I have much respect for this place! Always able to meet my needs, and Always ALWAYS stepping up when they needed too. I've been through a lot with some of my babies, and they are always attentive to explaining things that I may not understand fully. They saved my Cane Corse Harley's life. If it weren't for them, she wouldn't be here today. The nurses are the shit! The front desk girls (no matter the time of day) they are Always pleasant, and I love Dr Becker. Absolute waste of time in waste of money going here! My French bulldog was in horrible pain. He was barely walking and he had a bug in his ear. I took him to this vet which mind you was the chiropractor of this facility looked at him for five seconds told me it was his back. Nothing was wrong with his leg. Go to find out two weeks later after he sat in pain in agony that he has lux patella, which means his kneecap pops out constantly. It was never his back if I wouldn't have went and got another opinion because I noticed that this vet was nothing but a rotating door he would still be in pain in agony. Not only that he never even looked in his ear just stuck a cotton swab in it and said nothing was in it. He was fine due to that weaving that bug in there biscuit has literally had ear infection after ear infection after ear infection this place might be affordable, but sometimes you get what you pay for this is just a rotating door read more

I had to euthanize my dog yesterday and of course it was HORRIBLE. I was all tears and I just want to thank the staff who was so sensitive, empathetic and understanding. They made it bearable and it meant the world to me that my dog and I was treated in such a kind way. Even the doctor explained everything so well and helped me get through it. I've been here several times and I don't even own a pet! My BFF is a professional breeder/handler/groomer. She is one of those picky dog people and she would not trust anyone else with her animals. She drives about 30 minutes to see Dr. Becker and Dr. Matt. She has been going here for over a decade. The place is usually packed and that's a good sign! They do not treat you like cattle, either. Each vet takes a sincere interest in your pets well being. You never get the sense they are rushed or uninterested. They both have very good bedside manners. You can tell they love animals first and foremost. The receptionists are kind and friendly. They smile and will engage in witty small talk with you. They have always been pleasant. The techs are the same- friendly and helpful. They always take time to acknowledge the animals which I appreciate. I know they deal with a great deal and it must be challenging. They do their jobs well. I've seen all sorts of animals in the waiting room. Dogs and cats all sizes and ages. Gerbils, guinea pigs and even a pet rat. These people all love and trust the staff at this office. Cannot speak highly enough of this group. I am looking forward to the day when I own a dog so I can be a client. read more

Independence Animal Hospital ( in my Opinion ) provides the top Veterinarian care in this entire area of Jackson County. It is based on first come first serve. I was concerned about that at first just because my free time is often limited , I'm impatient and was uncertain of their triage procedure, should I have an emergency. ( No concern required)! My first visit was not a critical situation. However, their impressive & verifiable knowledge, skills and experience , I can tell you, I have no worries should you have an emergency! My first visit, the office was packed! I did have my adult son with me and our family pet ( well baby/pet), so he could hold her while I checked in, communicated with the ladies at the desk, etc. My Bebe girl thinks everyone is a new friend and wants to go see them and sick or not, determined to say hi! If you can have a couple extra hands should you have a social pet like mine, that would probably make you feel less overwhelmed about the process. Also, I'm slightly overprotective & do not want her saying hi to all other pets , annoying their owners and worrying me, she isn't liked by all other breeds! Lol They are a VERY busy practice , why... ? Because people come back, why... ? Because these Vets are beyond amazing! Mainly, because your pet gets well and you feel so grateful & relieved... you return should you need to! I would be very skeptical of an empty practice? I have NEVER waited over 20 mins, received top quality care, learned from the Drs willingness to explain & share their knowledge. The vets visits are very quick! They are NOT lacking in care, thoroughness or listening to your concerns... so experienced this is just second nature for this team! No need to guess or speculate. It is a no frills type clinic. They are there to provide your pet with the best possible veterinarian medicine and not there to goo goo gah gah over our precious angels as we do! They get them & keep them well to give you longer time with them! My moms neighbor had two Schnauzers, one has since passed, but lived a long wonderful life with two hip replacements, etc..! She used these Vets I believe as long as they've been there! She's since moved out of state but I could easily see her flying her pets back to see the Drs here! That's how I decided to bring Bebe to Independence Animal Hospital, as she was VERY knowledgeable about vet medicine, I trusted her opinion & advice! I'm hoping you will too! It's tough to decide! I had another vet in this same area, I paid $$$$ to for two surgeries that through other ( not just these Drs ) but various others, could've possibly been avoided, as I began to suspect after the second surgery and my girls response to it. Do not take your cats here! Even though Dr. Beaker is great with cats the other doctors are not! I saw a Dr. Scott 11/15/19 (after months of being told she had allergies and given allergy shots) because I had very worried about my cat Tassys breathing. Sounded labored and congested. Was told yes she was breathing fast and heavy but that her weight was the cause. They never did any other tests. Sadly had to rush Tassy to Vet Hospital ER last night 11/18/19. Found out she had been in respiratory stress all along and finally one of her lungs had collapsed. Long story short there was so much fluid in one side of her pleural cavity their was nothing that could be done without spending a couple thousand and because it had been going on so long, it was too late! Thank you so much for caring so little about my cat Tassy Dr. Wingert and Dr. Scott. May she rest in peace! 07/2013-11/18/2019. We have been taking our pets ( dogs ) to The Independence Animal Hospital for several years now. The staff is friendly and kind. You can tell that they all care about the animals that they treat. We have dealt with almost ever vet that works there and received the same outstanding service from each and every one. When our "Sugar" was passing away Dr. Becker stayed on the phone with us for over an hour suggesting ways to comfort her. This was at 9:00 pm. There were no charges for his services. These folks are not out to get rich. They are there to help our little furry children. I would recommend them to anyone, anytime. I have taken my English Bulldogs here for over 10 years and I drive 35 min to get here (past many other vets). This is an excellent practice. I agree with another reviewer that they are no nonsense. I got so tired of going to the vet and being sold special shampoos etc. and being made to feel guilty if I didn't buy extra products every time I was in there. At IAH they don't take appointments which can be good and bad because sometimes there is a bit of a wait. But, if you have a problem you can always get your dog in the same day. They have frequently offered me low cost ideas on how to treat my pets conditions like things I can mix up at home. I appreciate them looking out for not only my pet but my wallet! Over the years my dogs have had surgeries here and it's been literally a fraction of the cost of what it would've been elsewhere (I called around to check). read more

The BEST vet I have ever visited. We are so thankful to the wonderful staff at IAH. Our whippet/boxer tore her CCL (ACL & meniscus) this summer. First I took her to Blue Pearl and they only care about the $$$. Thankfully a friend recommended IAH and we could not be happier with the compassion, knowledge and care the staff provided for us. They truly love what they do and love the patients they treat. The surgery went well and they cared for Bailey for 3 days post-op and have checked on her multiple times. I love this vet's office. It is all about the animals here and when you own a pet, that is what you want. When I brought my boxer pups to them for ear cropping, they didn't waste my money and do a job that wouldn't have worked. They told me their ears wouldn't sustain a successful procedure so we left their ears natural. I love that an appointment isn't required. Who wants to make an appointment or get fitted into the day when there is a sick pet involved. This does happen at other vet offices. Three months ago, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to send one of the afore-mentioned boxers, 12 years old, to heaven. The staff was beyond sympathetic and kind. Knowing my pain, they got me into a room right away and gave me time with my beloved boy until I was ready for them to proceed. They were gentle with him and placed his 110 lb body onto the table afterwards offering me some more private time with him that meant a great deal to me. When I was ready to exit the office they let me take care of the bill in the back and allowed me to leave thru the back entrance so that I could be comfortable not going thru the main lobby having suffered such a loss. They provided me some kind words and I was at peace. No one wants to put a pet to rest but they were lovely and accommodating and I was so grateful that they made the event as stress free as can be expected at that time. Including when we were breeding St. Bernard's and then Newfoundland Hounds! I now drive from Harrisonville, MO to Independence, MO this is about a 40 minute drive. With them, I know not only am I getting the best care for my animals, they have seen many from the cradle to the grave, but a staff that cares. I used to take our 2 pups to Crain in GV but felt like I was constantly being charged for the most petty things (example: "allergy cleanse" for $25 a dog...) ANYWAYS, I started bringing our 2 pups here shortly after that and have been so happy with every visit since then whether it be regular check-ups, shots or most recently our youngest, Gracie, broke her front right foot. I got my kitten at 1 and half week old I rescued her from a garage where her mother had abandoned her. I brought her home and she was very sick. That was on a Saturday and then on Monday a few days later I had her seen at independence animal hospital. Her eyes were horribly infected and she had an upper respiratory infection. The Dr gave her medicine and nothing else was said because i wasnt allowed inside with her. Well she has had 3 more eye and upper respiratory infections. I decided to take her to a different vet. And right away the Dr looked at her asked some history on her and diagnosed her with feline herpes! Independence animal hospital neglected my baby. It took the other Dr just minutes of seeing her to know she was sick. Dr Scott is a jerk and he did not treat my baby with care or take the time to properly diagnose her. As I have shared my experiences with others on my personal fb page so many people have reached out to me sharing their horror stories of this vet. These veterinarians are ok but I just don't get the feeling they like cats real well, and lack the compassion and empathy to deal with them, or their owners. If I had it to do over again I would have put off the veterinarian visit and gone someplace better even if it costed more. The general cold-heartedness and lack of kindness of the staff is not a good sign either. I am blessed to have other options right now. If this is all you can afford, it's just a shame good people with a heart for their animals have to deal with something like this just because they are low on money.
