If this review were just for the makeup demo the instructor gave, I would give the class 5 stars. The instructor was very personable and well prepared. I reason I give 3 stars is that during the the 2 hours of class when the students applied the makeup the teachers did not give any feedback. They sat off by themselves looking at makeup. The one comment she said was nice color choice. I thought they would come around and help us, tell us if we were doing the technique correctly, but nothing! I am disappointed because it would have been such a better learning experience if they had put the effort in. There were only 5 students so it would have been very manageable to give personalized corrections from the 2 instructors. The results showed a lack of guidance. read more

I had a great experience at Glam Lab. I am a beginner when it comes to applying makeup on other people. I have a lot of products and do my own makeup all the time but I feel amateur when it comes to producing looks that are very contoured etc. Everyone was very nice and I learned a lot of techniques that I plan to use later on myself and others. I plan to take many more classes with them and I'm excited to become a better makeup artist. Taking this class was a great step in the right direction. OVERVIEW: Note: Take nothing away from Mr. Rihana (try to get a one on one with him), he was awesome. This "product sale" is disguised as a class where you are introduced to Glam Labs's over priced makeup, cheap brushes, and more opportunities to give up 8+ hours of your life, which will require a few more hundred dollars of your hard earned money. DONT DO IT. Mr. Rihana was instructing the class but the sanctimonious female cosmetologist and Lee added a bit of confusion with their interruptions. Going from one topic to the next without completing an idea was horrible. There was no structure and not all of the topics listed for the class were discussed. Poor! There was never any mention on the web or confirmation email that there was a pass/fail aspect or that you might not get your certificate. Out of the 30 or so girls that were there (5/24/15) only 3 got certificates, about five failed and had to return, and the rest were left empty handed. "We will mail it to you!" Pardon? The false advertising is strong here. They dont deliver what they say they will. The best part of the class was the part when we were parted into pairs and played makeup. So sad. The one-day course is split into three portions - tutorial/demonstration on live model, hands-on practice, and business strategy. There were only a dozen students in my class yesterday, which allowed for ample one-on-one time with instructors and getting to know the other students. This class was awesome. It's sort of like a boot camp for makeup but don't be fooled, you will learn and retain a lot of good techniques.
