Central Caloundra stay! My husband and I stayed five nights…read morein a second floor three-bedroom apartment in a terrific location in the centre of Caloundra, just a short walk to the shops and restaurants and one block away from Bulcock Beach. We stayed in apartment 201 which had two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom with 2 single beds. The master bedroom had a TV, ensuite and walk in robe and there was a family bathroom. There was a full laundry washing machine and dryer, and a combined kitchen/dining/living room area with flat screen TV. The kitchen was very well-equipped with glassware, cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, fridge freezer, kettle, electric cooktop, microwave, oven, toaster, and dishwasher. We really loved the feel of the apartment - it was bright, modern and well designed with high quality furnishings and fittings. The complex has two pools - which we didn't visit because it was too cold. The underground parking garage was very secure with access controlled by key fobs. If you have mobility issues, there are two lifts with access to all floors. This is a terrific option for a central Caloundra stay!

Located on Maple Street (main drag) in Maleny, the boutique is a little tucked away, but you should be able to spot the sign on your right as you head through the roundabout and smattering of shops. Drive on into the driveway, if it's not full, or park in one of the diagonal parking spaces outside. City-dwellers may forget that you don't have to pay for parking this far out, so don't hesitate to park it on the street; there's plenty of space between your car and the road, too, so no need to worry about other drivers. Ambience **** This is my first B&B experience. The Lodge is a CIRCA 1900 built Queenslander; it's large, to say the least! If you've never been inside a true old Queenslander, they've usually got a minimum 4 bedrooms; in this case, I think there's.... 5? I think that's a good start for my first B&B as I wanted to experience the familiarity of what I was expecting to be a home away from home. I always imagined a B&B to have two levels at least, but this one is cosy one level, a few steps to get up, with creaky hardwood floors, panelled wood walls, gorgeous 'antiquey' decore, and even an old rounded television in the back room (think OLD JVC style tellies!) with a tea and coffee buffet. There's a pool down the back, which you're welcome to use at any time (not sure about late night dips), and a patio area to lounge and chill your balmy Summer afternoons away. Just be careful of the bindis out back, make sure you've got your sandals/jandals/thongs/pluggers/flipflops on. As the website says, this is a feline friendly venue; no cats live in the Lodge, make no mistake, they just happen to inhabit the teacup garden out front and the backyard. Clean looking and cute as a button, and if you're not scared of the possibility of cat germs, then feel free to give them a good ear rub when you see them lounging around outside; they're quite friendly. Service ***** The Lodge is currently hosted by Bob and Judy who are as nice and hospitable as you could want. One of them will give you a tour, provide you a key, and ask for payment of the remaining outstanding amount. All very well and good, and if you have any questions, this is a good time to ask - especially about what's going on in town, what promotions, or markets might be happening. Judy and Bob have a very good knowledge of their surrounds, given I'm not sure how long they've been here. Breakfast is served at the usual time on the front porch. Your package should include a hot cooked breakfast, and it is ample to fill up on before you depart. Being a country-come-city girl, myself, I was sure I needed my dainty teacup replaced with an industrial sized mug but Judy came around often for refills and with more croissants. Accommodation **** The one and only reason we settled on the Maleny Lodge Boutique to begin with, was that they offer single night accommodation. A hard thing to come by in the Sunshine Coast hinterland! You pay a pretty penny to do so, but it's still cheaper than staying two nights anywhere else. Maybe it's just me, maybe it's in keeping with the old homestead feel, but the beds are kind of lumpy. Like, old stuffed mattress lumpy. The sheets and blanket had that lovely fresh crispy linen feel and smell, though, and we had some kind of a lace overhang over half the bed. Weird, but very cool. Each room has it's own bathroom, and while I had been excited at the prospect of soaking in a bath (we don't have one at home), I was disappointed we didn't have one. Maybe another room does? Well, the shower, toilet, and sink facilities are in good order and clean and although new, work well with the old timey feel of the rooms. Overall I wish we'd have stayed for two nights without any rush to get back home; I would have liked (like the inner granny in me says) to learn more about the history of the place, a snippet of which you can read on the website, and to explore more of the immediate surrounds as Maleny really is a beautiful little getaway spot.

They think of everything i.e. chilled water in the mini fridge, ice ready to go, milk for tea and coffee etc... The lot is very well kept and cozy. Breakfast is brought right to your room on time and hot. The rooms have recently been upgraded and are very clean. The showers are nice and the rooms have cutlery, plates, wine glasses etc. To explain all the little details that make this place an excellent stay would take forever.

This farm sits…read moreright in some of the most breathtaking views of the Glasshouse Mountains, the scenery couldn't have possibly gotten any better. Emma was also very welcoming and hospitable, and was on it to attend to any problems we encountered--feeding the animals was also a treat! I definitely missed this place when we went up to Brisbane to stay in an apartment for the remainder of our trip; there was so much fresh air up there. Waking up to those cheeky Kookaburas every morning over there was definitely the highlight--not to mention the view of the stars at night on the farm is absolutely out of this world (no pun intended). I would definitely say it is worth it to anyone looking to stay on this farm for a week (or weekend) away.

I would go back in the future. I liked how it was close the freeway and not far from the shops at Caloundra. It's a nice place to stay and will be posting up some photo's that I took of the room. Plenty of undercover parking which is a bonus when you are staying for a few nights.

Reviewed March 25, 2012 At the time of calling I was exhausted; and they were very happy to answer all questions; espeically when I call I had an 'stay offer' which I read out but the staff were even happy to let me know and offer me a what they had currently on offer which was more for less! FANTASTIC We arrived - which is was a little out of the way so to speak; taking turns here and there - easy to find even with the signs up everyone (so if you're not a local you'll find this place easily I reckon).., it was just never ending turning.... The staff were very pleasant at check in and helped us with local information and 'what to do' where to go and the hotel facilities available. It was a very clean neat tidy foyer and the staff were neat and professionally presented. At the time of check in we were asked what was the purpose of our stay (in general conversation - not at all in a prying way) and we told them and said exactly what we were wanting to avoid. So we were after a relaxing quiet weekend. So when an issue arose and the guests in the room beside ours become very loud we went and spoke with the staff and they happily moved us (obviously this is dependent on the rooms free) but they did it without any questions and apologised too. The room was a lovely side; had balcony and nice lounge area. On the right as you enter is a bigger ensuite style bathroom. It was all clean - nice and clean - top notch bathroom condition actually. then on the left is a kitchen area with a microwave and dishwasher (I think from memory *may depend on room); and kitchen things to use i.e. kettle, cups, toaster griller. It was really more like a mini apartel room (mix between an apartment (not quiet) and a hotel room). The lounge was sufficient to seat 4-5 adults comfortably. the bed was very comfortable. the bedding was sufficent; and the place was warm - not too cold and not too hot - just warm for that time The room overlooked the next-door golf course and the forest towards the back. The pool area was over the right of our view and directly below a few floors down was the outside area of the bar. The parking was secure and needed a swipe access- there were loads of security cameras which was very comforting and needed swipe access to go to your room :) very happy. Even after the buffet breakfast in the restaurant (which was included in the rate) the staff at the desk asked how we were and how breakfast was. the gym was busy - part of the hotel has permanent or long-term residents and the other part is the 'hotel' part for guests like us and there were a heap of people. There had been rain which made the outside area tiles entry wet and slippery risk. Care would need to be taken for anyone with walking aids, limited mobility or disability**** ask the hotel for help. There are stairs - at the entry not sure if there was a ramp. check. Overall this stay in June 2011 was comfortable and pleasant. The best part about the water park is that it has a little cafe attached to it. So it was easy to jump out and get snacks for the kids without having to dress everyone. The proximity to the beach was great. There was a supermarket next door and lots of food options in the area. Our room was decent. It took a little longer to get into the room than we would have liked and no one called to tell us it was ready (they said they would). All in all a great place and we are planning to come back.

We found this place on booking.com for $189 for one night.. We've stayed at other Oaks resorts before and felt comfortable staying here as we've done had good experiences in the past with other branches of the chain. The resort offers a restaurant and bar - but the main draw card was the kids water pool playground area. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The room looked liked it had been recently refurbished. It had modern furniture and decor with a lovely kitchen area. My only dislikes about the hotel were :- 1. The room was very very Dusty.. Thank God the hubby had some Telfast on hand! I was sneezing away and had terribly itchy eyes and nose.. :( 2. The noise from outside our room from other guests in the hall ways and car park were really loud.. And also the constant slamming of doors from other rooms front doors was so annoying.. Overall, the hotel is okay if your staying for a short time and have kids to entertain.. But, the price point is quite high in my opinion..
