I would say my apartment is almost fully furnished by them (if only they sold furniture lol!) Truly one of my favorite shops to visit in the whole state. The staff is always very friendly and their items are reasonably priced. They also host pop-up events a few times a year which offers a great opportunity for local vendors and artists to get some exposure. Can't wait for my next visit!

On a telephone pole, I saw what looked like an advertisement for a carnival, but it was for a new store called Weirdo Wonderland. It said it was a store dedicated to all things strange and unusual. I've been obsessed with horror and sci-fi films my whole life, so it sounded like it was right up my alley. I eventually popped in on a Saturday afternoon. I was stunned when I walked in. Lots and lots of horror and sci-fi collectibles. Tons of old movie posters and art prints. Various props, masks, old toys, plastic model kits, comics, and even old issues of "Famous Monsters of Filmland". The owner was very personable too. I'll definitely be popping in again to check out their collection of creepy chachkies.

The longtime collaborators turned life partners have loved all things Halloween for as long as they both can remember. Amanda has been working for a number of various haunted house attractions since 2008 (both as an actor and set designer), while Alex has designed and built a number of Halloween sets over the years. The two eventually founded their own production company called Doom Haus Creative Studios. Originally planning to open an escape room in Shelton, their plans were squashed when the 2020 pandemic shut down their progress. When a spot that was formerly home to the Greenwich Workshop art gallery became available in downtown Seymour, the couple decided to open their own shop. Every item on the shelves is either handmade by Amanda and Alex, handmade by one of their small business Halloween friends from around the country, or hand-curated by the couple. Halloween Dungeon is more than a Halloween shop: it's an immersive shopping experience. I recently stopped by Halloween Dungeon when I happened to be in downtown Seymour. I had a ticket to see a double feature at the Strand Theater (sponsored by Connecticut Cult Classics). As I was walking to the theater, my eye caught the exterior of Halloween Dungeon. I have loved all Halloween-related things for as long as I can remember, so it was a natural reflex for me to step inside the shop. The interior is almost like the set of a horror film. It's dimly lit with sound effects and you can smell the aroma of what I can only describe as "Halloween in smell form", courtesy of the shop's curated selection of scented candles. There were so many cool masks, costumes, books, and various props and accessories. I was especially impressed by the shop's selection of custom tombstones. I spoke for a few minutes with Alex and Amanda and they informed me that they host various events with costumed characters. They also have different themes in the store throughout the year, such as "Christmas with Krampus" or "Valloween". I didn't purchase anything on this visit, but I know that I'll be back. Whether your're looking for props for your haunted house attraction or items to make a terrifying costume, Halloween Dungeon is the place to be!

No, this is a LEGIT Halloween store with many items that are handmade. Here's the scoop on this spooktacularly cool spot! The store is located right on Main St. in Seymour, just two buildings down from the Strand Theater. You'll know you're in the right spot because you'll see the Frankenstein and other creepy figure in the front windows. Once inside, there's a cemetery complete with headstones, turf grass, and a picket fence. There's a large chalkboard sign listing the number of days until Halloween. The two owners (either husband and wife or boyfriend/girlfriend) are very friendly and will greet you upon entering. The store goes decently far back with tons of spooky items for sale, like high-quality clown masks, straight jackets, fake heads and brains, "severe trauma kits," custom headstones, skulls, skeletons, halloween handbags, books of spells, "Zombie Parking Only" signs, and so so much more! All of the items are high-quality, and many are even hand-crafted. They even have events and characters come in every so often. For example, the owners told me about how the had Van Helsing come in to take photos with customers several times. And around the holidays, they had Krampus come in for a meet-and-greet with customers. It's obvious that the owners are very passionate about Halloween and their store and I would definitely recommend paying them a visit! They'll be sure to wish you a "Happy Halloween!" when you leave.
