I am so blown away by the most excellent service! I was in Ottawa for a very brief stay assisting my elderly mother who has had to move into a care home. She loved her queen size duvet cover and was so sad to have to leave it behind as she was needing to downsize to a twin bed. Wanting to create the most comfortable and familiar space for her in her new care home, I went to Glebe tailoring with the request to have her duvet made into a twin size and needed it to be done on very short notice as I had to return to BC. My mother had no way of picking up the newly tailored duvet cover by herself so they kindly made the alterations in one day. They even offered to deliver it to her care home if I was not able to pick it up for her in time. I also had to purchase her new pants as she lost weight while in the hospital. She is very short and I needed them hemmed on the same timeline. They were able to make the alterations the same day as they knew I needed to leave town. They were SO kind and caring! I haven't had many great experiences with this shop. When I walk in, I'm often treated like an inconvenience and not a paying customer. The seamstress if usually curt and there are always pins sticking out of the carpet in the changing room and on the alterations platform. I brought two pairs of pants in for hemming on separate occasions with terrible results. I wore each pair of pants twice and the hem fell within that time. I've never had this happen before. I took them to another tailor and he said they barely reinforced any of their stitching. I had to pay to get them hemmed again at this tailor's shop. The pricing is moderate. read more

I had an ultra simple job to get done (pants hemming), and they managed to butcher the bottom - they now don't sit properly, they bunch in the middle where the seam is, and they are too short. When I mentioned that it wasn't very good, she told me it was fine and the length was what I had asked for. She wouldn't do anything to improve it, or offer me any sort of discount. Jesus... Don't go here. Horrible customer service. I needed a simple fix for a rip in my raw denim, and the lady refused to do it because I hadn't washed them. I tried to explain what raw denim is and why I hadn't washed them, and showed her they were perfectly clean but she didn't listen to a word I said - she didn't even make eye contact! My family has been going to Glebe Tailor for years. My mom stopped going a while back after ownership changed and now I understand why. I agree with the post (from four years ago!!) I'm treated like an inconvenience when I step inside. I paid $75 to get a bridesmaid dress taken up two inches (and while I'm not familiar with tailoring I feel that's a bit much). When I got it back I asked to try it on while I'm still in the shop, I noticed there were stain spots along the bottom, in the front and on the sides. When I asked her what happened she said it was like that when I brought it in. I told her it was in pristine condition when I dropped it off, I'd only tried the dress on twice before - tags were still on it even, she denied any responsibility. She said it was deodarant or sweat stains (on the bottom??), not the case. I find it strange the only places where there are spotted grease-like stains is all along the bottom where someone would be handling the dress. Mistakes happen she could have knocked off a bunch of the price or paid for the dry cleaning, she refused. What happened to customer service? Not going back. The woman in front of me when dropping off my dress took her clothes back and walked out, I should have taken that as a warning. read more

devastating experience my daughter in law went to pick up my grandsons christening outfit and they had closed an hour later-they had closed way begore closing at it was 502 pm-my daughter in law banged and screamed and cried and the staff had left long ago--this was the suit my son was christened in and now his son was going to be christened in the same out fit in the same church the next morning---but thanks to staff that decide to go home early we didn't get out christening outfit for next morning- I was out of mind-my dad is 82 and this may be the only christening of his great grandson he will see-to have his great grandson wear the same outfit his grandson wore for his christening was to be amazing for him---I wanted to go a whole new suit-mind you this was ought on preston st and was silk-at this point I didn't care-pictures has to be taken at a later date--to to mention my daughter in law was completely traumaitized---we have mad several calls which have been never returned-we want that suit back within the week-free of charge---Please call one nad grandma at 6130700-5952---if I hear nothing by next week-I will be down there that is if you follow your website hours read more
