Based on the two previous reviews, and especially Tab Bs', I took 5 pieces of clothing to Lynn's Tailoring to have them taken in. Believe the reviews, Lynn is excellent at what she does. I've been sewing for 45 years, but alterations are not my line of expertise, so I 'know' where she opened up the garments to take off 1.5 inches but I can't 'tell' by looking at them - that's how good she is. RESPECT. I'm also very picky as how clothe fit and everything fits perfectly. I have several other garments I'll need to bring her. Yes, her prices are very reasonable too. read more

I went in with snowpants that needed to be shortened. Unfortunately, Lynn was eating and was not merely put out but very angry when I asked her to put on a mask. There was no sign on her door saying she was closed for lunch, and she didn't suggest I return later - she simply got VERY angry. She told me she was vaccinated, which, tragically, we've all learned, does not guarantee 100% safety either for the vaccinated nor for the people around that person. As a seamstress, her work is absolutely impeccable. No question about that. But my goodness, the vitriol and anger she threw at me when i asked her to put on a mask because she was going to measure the snowpants on me, and pin for the hem.... Why can't she put a sign on her door saying that she's closed for lunch and to suggest at what time customers can return because she will have wiped her face and put on a mask? She's not the only good seamstress in town. read more

I walked to Lynn's on Saturday after bailing from Stitch-It - because Stitch-It didn't hold true to their quote. I have a few pairs of pants that seem to tear in the same place as time goes on, so I brought Lynn a pair of jeans and asked that she demonstrate her skills. Lynn was pleased about my request, and indicated my jeans would be ready by Monday. When I picked up the jeans I was impressed by the patch work and happy to pay the $15 + tax. I am wearing those jeans now, and if the patch works holds after running them through a couple of wash cycles, then I will be bringing Lynn's shop more work. ... IMO it's the smaller personal shops that like to demonstrate how they care by injecting quality. read more

Contacted to Lynn on Yelp and she got back to me the very next day. Brought a wool jacket to be shortened, Lynn was very nice very professional and super friendly. Was done in a timely manner and she did a superb job, I wouldn't know it was altered unless I looked closely at the stitching very closely. Upon closer inspection, I found that she removed the remnants of a fabric care tag I had cut off but left a bit behind but didn't say anything about it, what dedication she has! Highly Recommended!! I often use tailors and had gone to Lynn for years but stopped going a while back when she said that hemming pants wasn't worth her time. I tried again recently and got the same response. Sadly she was rude and not interested in my business. I have opted for another tailor not far away who is very friendly, extremely accommodating and certainly won't turn away business. read more

Lynn is awesome. She seems to be working 24/7 (she is actually closed on Sunday) yet she always has a kind word and smile on her face. The work she does is top notch and she isn't shy about giving her opinion about what will look the best, which is something you definitely want in a tailor. Ultimately she will do what you want and its at a great price. She has even sewed on buttons and fixed zippers while I waited and then not charged me for it. No one in Canada, or even North America for that matter, comes close to the expertise, precision, & quality Lynn exudes in her work. The next closest best tailor (shop) is in Denver, Colorado. Lynn has altered or modified a lot of my best & expensive clothes including pants, shirts, jackets, suits, etc. She knows how things should fit, consults extensively on what's being done before doing the work & then again after, and can handle absolutely everything whether it be prom/wedding dresses, suits, jackets, kid's stuff, drapes, tablecloths, and even upholstery! After moving to Toronto, I wanted no one else to work on some clothes so I sent them to Lynn, a friend picked them up, and the work was perfect. I entrusted another shop in Toronto "Harry & Sally" of which the former is an obliterating, untalented, liar, and they ruined both pants AND shirts, took the ruined stuff with me on a trip to Ottawa, and Lynn fixed them like pro. Harry & Sally can have some credit for fixing the pants however. There's a lady at the corner where Somerset turns into Wellington that's pretty good and she's been there for a long time. I sometimes take my less expensive clothes or pants to her, but all good stuff or important things should go to Lynn. The guy in the Byward Market near the Rideau Centre sucks - so does Harry Rosen and Moores - shoddy! Keep in mind that this the FIRST TIME I have ever given anyone or anything a PERFECT SCORE on ANYTHING whether it be movies, music, restaurants, etc, etc, etc. I hope Lynn never retires and seriously dread that might happen, coz I'll have to go back to Denver, Colorado! read more

I have been going to Lynn's Tailoring for years and my favourite items of clothing have lasted for such a long time due to the quality of workmanship and quality of replacement products. So many of the clothes we buy today cost good $$$ but they use 2¢ stitching!! drives me nuts. I bought a jacket many years ago and the zipper broke in less than a week. The replacement zipper cost more than the entire coat!! but it was soooooooooo worth it! I love this coat and wear it every winter and it has lasted this long because of that zipper!
