I worked here several years ago when the farm was in its embryonic stage and let me tell you, it's blossomed! Here you'll find an amazing selection of herbs, vegetable/fruit plants, flowers, annuals, perennials and more! And of course, the gorgeous lavender! RVA residents shouldn't miss an opportunity to visit this small farm tucked away in a Glen Allen neighborhood. Off Greenwood Road, drive down the country lane and it will dead end at the farm. If you have out of town guests, a ride to this hidden treasure will make for a fun day trip! In the spring, plants and herbs from A-Z are available, starting at Anise Hyssop and down the line! Some of the perennial herbs I had purchased here years ago, still come back year after year! My Sweet Woodruff was planted many moons pasts and flourishes as a ground cover each season! They also carry some hard to find herb varieties too! I'm especially fond of the Cuban Oregano, Tuscan Blue Rosemary(that's for remembrance, quoting Ophelia in Shakespeare's Hamlet) and the Rue (you must wear your rue with a difference, Ophelia says!) Winter, spring, summer or fall, there's always something to see at Lavender Fields. In addition to the wide selection of plants, LFHF also has other amenities; local raw honey, tours, classes, a gift shop, teas, garden supplies and tools, planters, beautiful landscaping that backs up the the Chickahominy River, and don't forget their famous lavender lemonade and ice cream. I have not been here for several years . No reason just don't live near Lavenderfields Farm. The other day I took a ride to there Farm. The parking lot had changed and the area where they had these wonderful raised beds is being renovated. Everything else was exactly how I remembered it. I went there for jalapeño and cucumber plants ... well let's just say I left with a whole lot more. They had their pottery 30% off and Earth go boxes 50% off. Yard art was a special price as well. They have a variety of herbs and vegetables right now. I'm sure flowers are to come. There gift shop was packed with many items . From tea to local honey, natural skin products, natural bug repellent, lavender sachets ... and more! I am more than happy to support a wonderful local business. read more

Lived in Richmond for 4 years before ever hearing about this place, it really is a hidden gem. My boyfriend's mom had given us some lavender and lemongrass room sprays from here and even though I loved them I didn't visit until another 2 years later. They have a good variety of plants, planters, gardening supplies, soil, gifts. I'm prefer modern minimal planters, which they do have including some cool succulent displays. I think I'll have to come back next summer and pick up some of their strawberry or blueberry plants, so cute. We did pick up some lavender lemonade and salted caramel ice cream, both were delicious! FYI the ice cream comes pre-packed in little cups and lids. I just really wish they didn't use styrofoam as it can't be recycled easily. read more

I also had a great conversation with Joey - the staff is just super friendly and a pleasure to be around. What a cute farm . And they sell fresh herbs and plants. Stopped by here while I was running errands to grab some lavender and what a sweet surprise. Easy to find and it smelled heavenly in the store. They offer tours of the fields and classes on growing your own herbs too which is a nice activity for families, especially in the summer. You can also pick your own sunflower there too . Supporting local business is also a great thing, there's much to see and do here, and the products are superb!! read more

LF is not for kids, there is little to little to intereet small children and no babysitters. Please, only bring children who are interested in plants, not just to get them out of the house and away from other nerve-frayed adults. This place is it when it comes to healthy plants, knowledgeable staff, and peace in an otherwise stressful world. read more

This is fun place to visit and you can even have tea here for just $10.It's at 2 p.m. and you have to make a reservation, as everything is made fresh for the afternoon guests. I love the dried lavender bunches and always keep some around my house or in the bath. I like the sachets too and put them in my closets and dresser drawers. Despite the name, the farm is an organic herb and vegetable farm, so in addition to the lavender product, you can buy those here as well or take a class in something like pesto making. read more

I'm crazy about Lavender Fields Farm! Their plant selection is wonderful. Their gift shop is one of the first places I shop for local products. I love their local honey and I take a spoonful every day to help with seasonal allergies. They have a unique selection of pots and decorations for your garden. I took my Mom here for a lovely lunch. We love Lavender Fields! The have tons of herbs for purchase to help you grow your herb garden, many of them organic. They have charming garden art and, of course, many varieties of Lavender. They were even nice enough to give our Brownie/Daisy troop a wonderful and informative tour including the bee hives. While visiting RVA with my family I did a search for outdoor things to do as we are from the beach and wanted to explore new places. This little farm is heaven! It was such hot day but I was offered an umbrella for shade while picking lavender and the ladies that worked in the little store were so kind and helpful. The ice cream was delicious as was the lavender lemonade! Kiddos got some honey sticks and loved those too. There is a cute little overlook of the river and a couple benches. Overall the kiddos loved it even though I picked a hot day to go. We will be back! read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Given, I don't physically go here often because it's quite a distance away, but my mom and I have been customers for about two or three years now, and we've bought so many bottles that I can't even keep count. Their honey is very clean and pure tasting, and is very sweet, but not overdone. The flavor is, in my opinion, the epitome of "summer fresh". Store-bought industrialized honey or imported honey cannot even compare to the local taste! Because it is local, the price is a bit more than its store counterparts, but I think it is definitely worth the price. In their gift shop, they also have various honey and lavender-themed items, such as soaps and candies. What I love most is their ice cream, which is by far the best I've ever had. I'm addicted to it! I even go to a local ice cream store that they supply, called Gelati Celesti, to get it! The lavender and honey flavors are sooo good, and the lavender aroma just lingers around your breath for the rest of the day. One bonus to buying their honey in jars is that the glass jars can easily be reused, and are definitely environmentally friendly if you reuse them. (I have about three jars at home storing other things, and one for putting my smoothies or drinks in.) Also, if you bring back a jar, they will take $2 off your purchase! read more

I visited with a coworker, and we had the best time at this lovely little farm! They have a great variety of herbs and a darling gift shop featuring their products and other local artisans. We had a delicious lunch full of fresh ingredients (the chicken salad was scrumptious!) and ended with an order of divine half-lavender and half-honey ice cream. It's a cozy dining room that would be perfect for a small bridal/babyshower or tea. Take your best friend for a visit and enjoy the picturesque moment it creates. The grounds aren't extensive (although we didn't get a chance to visit the honey bees and other parts of the property) but the main herb area (amazing variety!) makes for a great stroll and a chance to enjoy the peaceful yet lively country scene. read more

My husband and I had lunch here and it was such a delight. The herb butter, lavender lemonade, and honey and lavender icecream were amazing! I was so impressed with the food, it felt like such a treat. The only awkward thing is that it's in a sunroom attached to a house and you can hear the residents (and you have to walk thru the house to get to the bathroom). This place is a joke. Looks like a large substantial operation on their website. So glad I came two hours and had another thing to do. This is nothing more than a house with a large backyard, a small portable green house and some herbs for sale. It was amazing to take the tour and find out how this beautiful place came to be. They have honeybees, plants to buy, a place to sit by the water, so many lavender and herb products (plus samples!!). Super cute nursery; we had fun picking lavender, sampling ice cream (honey and lavender), and trying their homemade lemonade. It's a small operation and I believe this is their first year opening their lavender field to the public, so picking was limited to 20 stems per person. Their gift shop smells heavenly, full of all things lavender and they sell their own honey as well. We bought a bottle of their Elizabeth Lord bug spray and unfortunately, we have found that it is not effective at all:( I feel that my toddler gets more bug bites when she wears it then when she doesn't but it does smell amazing and is all natural, at least! Not at all a criticism of the farm but just fair warning, I did not find it to be a good outing for small children; it probably makes a better outing for adults or older kids -- or at least a 1:1 parent:child ratio if you do have little ones! The field is only roped off, as opposed to fenced, so my toddler was running off into the woods every chance she got. Same story for the river overlook. Even so, the staff was very kind to everyone in our group! read more
