This pharmacy had been a part of RVA for years. Despite some issues a few years ago, Westbury looks like its back on track. We've used their pharmaceutical services and have never had a problem. They can be a bit higher in price, so shop around. The selection of medical supplies is terrific, the carry many items typical chain pharmacies don't. Along with the deli/cafe, the candy counter, the greeting card displays and the gift shop, I could spend hours here. Westbury remains and RVA favorite in my book! read more

Today is the 2nd time I have tried to return something to Westbury!! And for the 2nd time I was refused a refund!! I was well within the 15 day return window with my receipt, but the sales lady said I didn't need the box and insisted on throwing it away! BECAUSE I didn't have the box and it was from the medical side over where they sell medical things, it was non-refundable! In fact, NOTHING in the medical part is returnable nor refundable!!! WRONG ANSWER!!!! I will not be shopping there again!!! read more

Cute store. One of the pharmacists is very rude and does not do her job. I asked if my prescription came in a chewable or crushable form. She rolled her eyes & acted like I was a huge bother to her. When I got home & read the insert, it comes in a granule format. It is her job to give me that information when I ask. I made a complaint to the general manager, Dave Cousins. He was not helpful at all. Of course he kind of apologized but it seems there is no repercussions for not doing your job or for being rude to customers. I guess Westbury did not learn from past mistakes. I will not be back anytime soon. I've changed pharmacies & am Very happy with their excellent customer service. read more

Such a cute throwback spot. I wandered around in here for longer than I should have a few weeks back. This is a pharmacy/diner/toy store/home decor store? It has everything. On certain days they even have the Ms. Yoder's donut truck in the parking lot. On this day I happened to have my daughter with me and the cashier was so nice and gave her a balloon which worked wonders to keep her occupied while I browsed. Although I only got what I went in there for (shocking, honestly), I enjoyed my time and wouldn't hesitate to go back. I went to Westbury Apothecary Store for the first time today with my autistic son when the manager of the store thought it was okay to speak to my child in a very rude and condescending way all because he was showing me a toy he liked and how it worked. It was a $4 display toy on the shelf, that I was planning to buy him. When my son was trying to tell him that he was trying to show me, his exact words were "Don't you talk back to me", and I was standing right there. If you have a problem with my child, you talk to me, but I will not let you talk to my child like that. I was completely shocked at how he would treat a special needs child that wasn't even doing anything wrong, just simply looking a cheap toy. He was also apparently following my son around and was rude to him while I was in the bathroom, too, which made him uncomfortable. I will never step foot in that place again! read more

Not very appreciative of their employees especially when new management took over. I worked here for 5 years in the pharmacy department as a technician when Chip & Joe were the POC & they were very understanding, they always helped out the patient when they could & they also would help the employees also if they could . They were very caring, helpful, and knowledgeable . I haven't been in Westbury since so I don't know how it is today but word of month they aren't doing too good but like I said that's word of mouth. I'm just appalled by the way I was just treated today. The catatonic woman that sits in the back and doesn't say a word got after me today because she is very judging about prescriptions even though she doesn't say anything I even know your name she goes and you never will. Lovely people and they also blame chip for all of the diversion, which makes me sick because I know him too well for that I never going back there again that's for sure and the people are very, very, very rude. It's disgustingly sad how this happened and they wanted me to get in trouble because I made a comment about the place just bumming me a lot of the time which turn naturally into that wanted to burn the place down that made a lot of sense so the police were there at that point thank God I called them cause I'm not going to jail for a bunch of BS anymore. This is unacceptable They should definitely go out of business because they are so freaking rude. They don't care about anybody except themselves and they don't even speak to anybody. ATTENTION: BE VERY CAREFUL AT WESTBURY. Company double charges clients then refuses to help when asked. Dave Cousins, the general manager is NOT the guy I want running my company. Inflexible, defensive, abrupt, obtuse, arrogant.....not a manager type. Wife bought products for $100.00. Westbury charged her twice. Asked to do a simple refund, older lady, quite incapable, said she couldn't do that. Needed manager approval. Of course, Big Dave not around. Next employee, trying to help (hence the one star) actually ended up triple charging the same $100 purchase. She was able to reverse that charge, claiming that all was fixed and we should just wait "a few days" for it to reverse. Today made our fourth trip Westbury. Met Dave Cousins....awful experience. He refused to do a thing saying it had been handled. We went to our bank where they said they clearly see the three charges, the one reversal and two attempts to refund that WERE BOTH CANCELLED BY WESTBURY. PLACE IS STEALING MONEY. STAY AWAY. I am disabled and do not drive. When an Lyft driver took me to fill two prescriptions at midday, he could not wait the 20 minutes required for them to be filled. I stressed with the counter person that I had to have prescriptions today. She assured me that the pharmacy would charge them to the card on file and deliver today. I once emphasized I again I had to have them today. They were never delivered. When I called, the pharmacist did not apologize. He is kept saying,"Unfortunately, we do not deliver again until Monday." I could not wait until Monday. I need them now--Friday night! The pharmacy suggested I come get them. I explained again I cannot drive. This is a serious lapse in patient care. I am disappointed and very angry. My trust in Westbury is gone completely. Don't expect minimal patient care. read more

They do NOT participate with Good RX or other prescription drug programs. They overcharge for medications that are easily half or a 1/4 the price at other pharmacies in town. Staff is also lackluster and not very friendly. I hadn't been to Westbury in years, but I will never be going back. read more

Pharmacy Delivery? Do not make the mistake! I had the RX on delivery due to a severe Infection, and my work schedule. Westbury states they delivered, and it is not in any mailbox in my apartments. I called back and the pharmacist had the "OH WELL!" attitude. I had to call back my Doctor and have it sent to a different pharmacy, BUT I let my insurance company know and they did a charge back.! This is my first ever review on yelp and I didn't want to write it but I feel I have no other recourse. Im disappointed with the store that we have used for years. My mother whose 84 and has Alzheimers and dementia had to get a prescription cream that cost $120 and it was somehow lost before we left the store. We had to get it filled again the next day and they had ZERO compassion for her and wouldn't budge 1 penny. The pharmacists didn't have the guts to get on the phone with me and tell me they wouldn't help us at all. I never complain, but had to address the how they handled this situation. read more

Pharmacy locations in the 80s smelled of grilled hot dogs and milkshakes. There were people there who sang hello, sold penny candy, and it felt like family. Stepping into Westbury pharmacy is like stepping back into time. There is a store, restaurant, and pharmacy. They are super friendly, helpful and life is a little better just by walking in the door. read more

We went today to get a sandwich for lunch. It was 1:25 and we were told we close at 2:00 so we will not be making anymore food. The waitress went to tell the lady at the register/ cook line that we wanted a sandwich and she said no, we're closed. What? I sure hope the owner sees this. They have a little Cafe/Soda Bar inside and its a full pharmacy with a candy bar like Hallmark used to have! I love this place! My only issue is that they aren't as busy as the chain stores! I feel bad for them. Its a dying business trying to compete with everyone in town. Please come support this establishment if you can. read more

Love the actual store but the pharmacists are rude and NOT knowledgeable! My son was getting muscle cramps from playing his sport in this humid hot summer. His physical therapist suggested electrolytes and hydrate more. Not more Gatorade, as that has lots of sugar & no electrolytes. Went to Westbury. 1st! I was the ONLY person at that big long counter, 4 pharmacists on the other side. I had to wait & wait for them to acknowledge me with "have you been helped?" WHAT? 2nd, I ask about the Electrolyte tablets & explain why I need them and that our physical therapist had suggested I get them for my son to help him hydrate. The pharmacist looks down at me and states that he has never heard of those tablets and that my son needs to drink more Gatorade. I told him what my son's physical therapist told me about Gatorade vs. electrolytes, said thank you and left... As I was leaving I heard them snickering. I went to The Vitamin Shoppe. They knew exactly what I was asking for & explained how to use them. Extremely helpful! Sad that a pharmacist was giving me very harmful advice! read more
