We expected rain at around noon that never came, but ended up warming up to the point where we were peeling off a layer for delightful low 70s sunny weather. I learned to play in college but only pick up a stick once or twice every year. Still the education I got from the head Men's coach of our local community college is paying off 30 years later. The front nine are flat and open. The back nine is the older original course which is a little more tricky having shots from low to high and vice versa amongst older growth trees. We played best ball (3 vs 4). Chirp, Dick and myself against Dan, Matt, Moose and Tom. We a shot 64 with 6 birdies and two boogies for the win. On the 15th hole I tee'd off with an 8 iron for the "shot of the day", shooting within 12 inches to the pin. The front 9 played a little lighter than the back. Save your energy for the back. The club house had some really nice merchandise but are still posting signs out front for social distancing and limiting one person at the register although they said verbally to allow 2-3 people inside at a time. Things are opening up again. Each of the carts also has a plastic partition. The one complaint is that the plastic sheet acted like sail and wasn't fastened well so the wind would it flap into you. Hope to be back again soon.

Good selection of beers. Sturdy outdoor picnic tables, some outside and a bunch in an open air covered space in case the weather is threatening. This place has tons of parking which is free. The pricing for mini golf was really good better than anywhere else - unlimited and two different 18-hole courses (I will say the courses itself could use an upgrade - new paint or adding some objects to the course to make the established holes a bit more challenging. We paid 9 dollars per person. The driving range was also pretty cheap for buckets of balls - it would be a fun afternoon to bring the dads for driving range, the kids for mini golf and the moms can eat food and hang or enjoy the range as well. The food looked good, but we did not partake - the drinks were decently well priced - a can of beer 3.50 - a sway was 6 bucks. They have free concerts every now and then at their art installation, which is pretty cool, I also think it's cool how they do 5 buck Mondays. The staff was nice enough, my only complaint is the grass was a little overgrown, so we got ate up with chiggers and skeeters.

Slope rating of 114 from the blues gives a pretty good indication that it isn't a significantly difficult track. Very quiet out here in the sticks and it made for a nice round. Overall appears like a very mature course with large trees lining the fairways. Greens have a decent amount of contour and played slow today...sped up some once the morning dew burned off. Greens were freshly mowed and well kept but the fairways appeared like they hadn't been touched since Thursday or Friday (probably due to amount of rain past few days). Little to no roll out on tee shots and felt like anything in the fairway was hitting from the first cut on any other course. Tee boxes were in good shape. Some interesting holes here too...it isn't just a back and forth affair. Seriously 5 cars in the lot when I rolled up at 730 on a Sunday (!) and pretty sure one was an employee. All carts still had serious amounts of dew on them. I am fairly sure there wasn't anyone else working. Very much a local operation. Attire on the course was anything from traditional to jorts. My playing partner assured me the skill sets vary wildly also. Playing time for us was just over 3 hours with no one ahead of us. Hard to lose a ball here since it is pretty open on most fairways. Pro shop and snack bar were below average and the woman running it was...surly. Breakfast burrito was $3.45 straight from the freezer into the microwave. Overpriced. For a $34 weekend rate I was not expecting a ton. It is what it is and was OK for me. I will likely be back if for nothing else the low rates and proximity to my current location.
