I was seen in October 2025. The office staff at Dr. Mitchell's dental office are friendly and welcoming. I had a root canal done here and, clinically, I've had no issues since the procedure. However, my concern is with their billing practices. The office is contracted with my insurance, yet I was billed an amount significantly higher than what was actually owed--nearly three times the correct amount. As someone with experience in the medical field and certified in billing, I reviewed the charges carefully and requested a correction. Unfortunately, the office refused to address the discrepancy, became unprofessional in their communication, and stopped responding altogether. I've since filed a grievance with my insurance to resolve the matter. My advice to others, do not pay the full billed amount without first reviewing your Explanation of Benefits (EOB). I discussed it afterwards with the dentist who said it was due to my bite. so I carried on as normal even though I had pain. I went to another dentist eventually who said I didn't need the root canal and the tooth is cracked and has bacteria and needs to be pulled. I call Dr Mitchell's office to discuss it with him and his front desk was rude and discourteou. they insisted I couldn't even discuss it with him without paying $300. the money just keeps flowing and the results are not. I try to avoid places like this but was referred by my dentist. Lesson learned. Came here for a root canal. Was overcharged by a little over $200. Requested a refund. They admitted they overcharged me mid-February. On 4/11, I got an envelope post-dated 4/8 with a check inside that was unsigned and dated 1/31/2024 which was actually about a week and a half prior to my office visit. Check was for $35. Laughable. The Root Canal experience was OK. They definitely overcharge by billing "non-covered" services for standard procedures. If you don't mind paying for services that aren't necessary and don't mind spending the time following your money to make sure they're doing things above board, give them a try. Please stay away from this endodontist. I am livid at the horrendous level of care and the sheer audacity of this disrespectful, pompous jerk. Everyone in this office is downright nasty. There are "surprise" fees after you get there in addition to them charging you money for the same thing they're billing your insurance. Double billing. They demand your credit card, just in case. Very shady business practices. I hope this review helps someone else. He did a root canal on me about five years ago, I returned for another last month. I even offered and took their business cards back to my general dentist so he could refer patients to them, what a fool I was! They dishonestly told me my new and confusing Medicare dental insurance did not cover about $150 of the fee, so I would need to pay that when I arrived. When I checked the benefits with my insurance co., I inadvertently discovered that was untrue, my insurance covered it all, 100%. When I arrived for the procedure I informed them, Karen was really miffed, she very reluctantly called my insurance and had to admit the truth. She ran back, I guess to tell Dr. Mitchell, then she demanded a credit card, "it's our POLICY because he's been burned too many times". Like this guy is hurting for money. They REFUSED to see me if I wouldn't. I was in horrific pain, I had no other choice. Oh, I wish I would have left then. I was concerned when the procedure only took about 15, maybe 20 minutes. At checkout they informed me I owed $90, no explanation, I had to ask. It was for a bioceramic (?) sealant, they would not submit that to insurance, said it's not covered. I paid but I later called my insurance co. to check benefits for this. They offered to call Mitchell's office with me, together we spoke with Barbara, the office manager, who was extremely nasty ,literally screaming that she knows nothing because she lives and works in Port St Lucie. However, Barbara said she knew the office had informed me of the $90. charge PRIOR TO my appointment. I told her absolutely not, she volunteered to refund the $90. to my credit card. I thanked her. She lied, she said that only because the insurance co. was on the phone with us. Disingenuous. About a month later, July 20, I called and left a message for Barbara ,she had not refunded my money as promised. Then a few days later, I began to have the same symptoms and pain again, in the exact same spot. Severe pain when chewing on that tooth, I made an appointment for a recheck, Karen made no mention of any fees for that. I waited a long time in the exam room today, then after two xrays, he came in, was very brusque, examined me and told me he couldn't find anything wrong. When I tried to ask him questions, he was vague and obviously annoyed, he advised I can see my general dentist or any dentist or I could have a dental CT scan. I asked the cost of the scan, he said $250. I told him I would see my regular dentist and I would call him if I wanted the CT scan done, he repeated, more specifically, any OTHER endodontist can do it. I asked if there was a problem. He said yes, because I had contacted my insurance co., I should see another endodontist. I was blindsided. I asked what the issue was (since you have the right to check insurance benefits), he began to BULLY me, trying to put words in my mouth. He kept repeating- since you are so UNHAPPY, see another doctor. I never said I was UNHAPPY, he did, I was only asking for answers to my concerns. He seemed to enjoy ambushing an ill, senior patient. I soon realized this "talk" was all planned on his part. HE handed me a paper and said- here's the copy of the credit Barbara gave you for your $90. It was no coincidence that the transaction was dated 7/21, exactly one day AFTER I left her the msg about the missing refund. When I stated I was still waiting for her call back, he said NO, she had already called me. He was calling me a LIAR, so unprofessional. He was very scary, I think he's an extremely cold individual on a good day, this was over the top. He's came across as a miserable, strange, money hungry creep. Linda, the most nasty office clerk I've ever encountered, asked me for$53. then$153,"your portion" for today. NO ONE told me they charge to recheck work they did LAST MONTH. Shhhhh! I believe he had bad feelings towards me from the start because I learned he was overcharging, it caused him to lose an extra $150 he wasn't ever owed. But Dr. Greedy still wanted the $1500. from my ins., so he worked on me anyway, did a CRAPPY job, then "fired" me weeks later. This dentist (and his equally HORRIBLE staff), are NOT concerned about the medical OR financial consequences to his patients after he gets his claws into you and your insurance. Steer clear of Dr. Glen Mitchell DDS, unethical, greedy, unprofessional, incompetent, unscrupulous bully. Trust your gut. I just came back from my first root canal. I have to concur with all the positive reviews. Dr. Mitchell (and his staff) are phenomenal. When I first walked in there was a discrepancy with my insurance. However, the lady at the front took care of it very quickly. Cynthia the dental assistant is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Even though its my first time I wasn't nervous about the procedure. However, Cynthia still took the time to go over everything in detail. Also, she just has a way about her that will put you at ease if you are nervous. Dr. Mitchell was extremely professional. He came in, explained everything that Cynthia hadn't covered and went to work. I was awake through the whole thing and I had a chance to observe his demeanor during my root canal. Based on the efficient way he carried out the procedure; there is no doubt in my mind that he is an expert at what he does. After, the root canal I found out that he did something additional during the root canal that was necessary and didn't even charge me for it, now that's classy! This was a horrible experience. I was referred by my periodontist for a consult about a root canal procedure. My x-rays were emailed. Dr. Mitchell's assistant spent a few minutes with me, and tried to get me to do another x-ray. I told her they had been sent, and she replied that they hadn't received them, so I asked her to look again! She found them. When Dr. Mitchell came in he spent barely 5 minutes, and then tried to get me to do a root canal right away without ever giving me a price. When I asked the cost I was finally told $1475. I explained that I had to figure out my finances first. Dr. Mitchell seemed impatient that I was even asking questions. When I went to check out I expected to be offered options, such as Care Credits, etc. Instead I was charged $150 for the "consult." When I asked if I would have been charged for the consult had I done the root canal right away, she said no. I reminded her that when the appt was made my periodontist told me that it would not be a surgical appt, as I was heading to a business event afterwards, and this had been explained on the phone as the appointment was made. This was simply supposed to be a 2nd opinion consult. She simply said "For you, I'll take the $150 off your next visit." However, I never wanted to return to this office again, so I emailed afterwards, asking if perhaps I could get half of that charge back, but they never responded. No other office has ever charged me for a second opinion. I've done extensive research on root canals since, and had appointments with both a holistic Dentist, and a then higher tech office. Neither of them charged me for a consult/second opinion. It turns out that even the higher tech office who uses a laser therapy called PIPS is less expensive, and cares so much more! Dr. Mitchell doesn't care enough about his patients, nor does he want to be bothered taking the time to help them feel better about whatever procedure they need. I went to Glen Mitchell and he accepted my insurance and after the service was over said my insurance covers most and I paid roughly 400$. Well I get another bill for 558$ because he charged my insurance almost 2k for the root canal. The charges my card without my approval only to tell me the paper I signed was approval in case insurance did kit pay. Total thief and deceptive practices. Don't be fooled. Did not go through with my root canal procedure. I started asking questions to the staff to understand the Drs. Procedures for numbing the area, as well as for calming techniques. The staff kept building up the Dr, trying to reassure me to ask him all my questions and he would take the time to talk to me. By the time he walked in the room, it was around 6:30 in the evening and he seemed either annoyed with me, or annoyed with his day. He wanted nothing more then for me to shut up and just let him drill into my tooth. He explained he only gives 3 injections and typically that is enough for his patients, unless the tooth is "angry" and if so then I may feel something. I explained that I had a root canal before with an out of state Dr. Who took the time and necessary injections to get me completely numb, so I couldn't feel anything. I offered him that drs notes and he became offended.. he's been doing this for how ever many years, blah blah blah. Ultimately, he had no respect for me as the patient, or my knowledge of my own patient history. I went to another Dr. In the area, who wanted to understand what I needed so he DIDNT cause any pain. Ultimately, after 5 injections, was able to numb the area. If I would have stayed at this office, I would not have been numb and the Dr. could not have cared less. I found him arrogant and careless. No concern that I was a person, not just a patient. Every person is different. I know there are good reviews saying folks did not feel a thing, BUT every person is different. It does not have to hurt, folks. Every one seemed so nice at first, but the demeanor of every one in the office quickly changed once I started asking questions. My tooth was throbbing and in extreme pain for several days when late Sunday left message on the office voice mail. Barbara called me back within five minutes and by the time I arrived on Monday the infection progressed even more including my face now being swollen on side where tooth was infected. Back story: I had two molar extractions, 'completed' by another dentist who believe my gum was numb, and I disagreed, yet he pulled and yanked with blood splattering on me and himself, disregarding my pleas to stop digging my gum with a metal pick. Had an emergency root canal and was in the WORST pain I have ever felt in my ENTIRE life. I have a very high tolerance for pain, and rarely cry from pain, but this pain would only get better with ICE. When my ice ran out at my regular dentist, I sat in the waiting room bawling in tears. They did nothing to help relieve the pain. They referred me to Dr. Mitchell with an appointment time of 12:45 pm (which happened to be 3.5 hours away as it was 9:15 am at the time). I was only 2 miles from the office, so I decided to go there as I was on my way out of town, with my car packed and husband in the car (It was a VERY important fitness competition weekend that we were heading out of town for). I walked into Dr. Mitchell's office and the receptionist saw that I was in pain, and got the Doctor right away. Within 3 minutes, I was in the back with Novocaine in my mouth to relieve the immense pain I was feeling. I was physically shaking from the pain and from being cold and Sandra, the Doctors assistant was the sweetest woman - she gave me a blanket, and calmed me down. She assured me that they would relieve the pain and that everything was going to be okay. They told me that they would take care of me and they did, RIGHT away. We were able to make it down to our fitness competition in Miami, and my husband has a very successful weekend. Thank you Doctor Glen Mitchell. You were a life saver and calmed me down so much that I actually fell asleep in the chair when the work was being done on my tooth. He is amazing and I couldn't recommend him more. This dentist is a rip off. They charge a $25 OSHA fee for disposing of paper goods and such used. They say they are In Network dentists but then charge fees not covered by the insurance and claim they are allowed to. Arrogant and dismissive. My wife walked out before the procedure started. She was understandably nervous and wanted to ask a few questions. Dr. Mitchell was visibly annoyed by this while touting his 25 years of experience. I mentioned that my wife's general dentist sent a letter with us as to the best way to numb her because she requires a specific method. This was very technical information. Dr. Mitchell said that he did not need that because he has been numbing patients for 25 years. Then he says, "not every patient can be fully numbed, so she may feel some pain anyway." My residence is in Delray Beach and recently, my dentist recommended me to a local endodontist for endodontic (root canal) treatment for one of my lower molars. Normally, most people would go to the specialist recommended by their regular dentist, but in my case, I made the decision to get treatment from Dr. Glenn Mitchell of Boca Raton, Florida. The decision was an easy one for me. I had practiced dentistry in NYC for almost 30 years before coming to Florida, where I was the Southeast Regional Sales Manager for a company introducing a revolutionary new product, digital dental x-rays. Over a 10 year period, I had the opportunity to "meet and greet" most of the dentists and visit dental offices, not only in Florida, but throughout the Southeastern United States. With this background, it was a "no-brainer" to seek treatment from Dr. Mitchell, even though there were other endodontists closer to my home. My decision, however, was based on my perception that Dr. Mitchell is one of the best endodontists in the United States, and perception is always reality. In my visits to Dr. Mitchell's office in the past, he had always exhibited an expertise in endodontic treatment that I had rarely seen elsewhere, but equally importantly, his concern for the welfare of the patient, in every regard, was uppermost in his approach to treating every patient as though they were a member of his family. His continual attention to details concerning sterilization, patient comfort and demands that the most up to date technology be incorporated into his practice are only some of the many reasons behind my decision to seek treatment from him.
