We feel right at home here and free to bring all and sundry medical problems to the doctors for detecting the treatment and solution. Reception is downstairs, and the doctors and nurses rooms are both upstairs and downstairs. Parking right outside the door and the pharmacy, labtests and dentists are located within the same complex.

They have several doctors on the staff here, both men and women. There are also several nurses so if you need to come in for something small then you can see them instead of making an appointment with a doctor. All the staff I've ever dealt with were friendly and professional and reassuring (an important attribute I any medical profession). Unfortunately my doctor no longer works in Avondale, so I don't know if I'll keep coming here. I would still happily recommend the place to anyone else though. It's a popular clinic and often busy, so do bear in mind that sometimes you might have to wait a little while.

This Medical Centre also houses a podiatrist clinic and physio which is convenient. Unfortunately there is no longer a blood test lab attached to the building - this was one of its huge bonuses, but even so, it remains a trusty wee doctor's clinic to keep in mind! Dr. Julie Taylor was my doctor most of my life and I would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a new doctor. She's incredibly lovely and genuine, and absolutely dedicated to making sure you receive the health care you're after. Her locum doctor, Dr. Leone Russell is equally as great, so don't worry if Dr. Taylor isn't there - Leone will look after you! With a carpark behind the Medical Centre and lots of free on-street parking readily available this doctor's practice is easily accessible and very friendly.

At first they told me I had to come in every month for a new script as they needed to talk to me to see how I was doing on the medication. This was a lie, probably to get more money out of me, as when I come in they simply ask what I want and dismiss me. Every single time I've been there I've had a different doctor so when the chemist/hospital asks me who's my gp is I have no name to give them. This is also an issue for me, due to my social anxiety disorder, you will never be able to build a relationship or trust in a specific doctor. I've also had times in the past when I was very mentally unstable I've overdosed, of which the hospital will let the doctors know that this has happened yet they don't bat an eyelid at this and continue suppling dangerous amounts of medication to a mentally unwell person which further proves my point of the lie mentioned above because they don't really care about the patients only trying to pump them out as fast as possible. Later on when I discovered I don't need to come in to get my script is when even more issues arised. In preparation I'd call in the morning to get my script faxed through only to get to chemist warehouse late afternoon/after hours and them tell me it's not been sent through. In the afternoon I'd be able to call them again to get it sent through but that's an hour + of waiting on them at the chemist. After hours I'd have to wait till the next day which is really dangerous for the medication I'm on. They'll also have an issue if I call ahead a few days in anticipation of them messing up. When they do manage to send the script through it's almost always wrong with doses messed up so again having to call them to fix it. I've honestly had these issues more times than I can count on my fingers AND toes. To top it all off they still charge me for every call in. No script and wrong scripts. Also one of the older receptionists is really rude, to the point where I pray she's not the one answering the phone as she gives me anxiety. Wouldn't recommend to anyone at all. I'm changing practices tomorrow as I've completely run out of patience and I'm an extremely patient person.

However, last time we really needed an appointment on the day we rang, they offered to book us in with a nurse and got a doctor to pop out. Super helpful! Some doctors seem better than others so is worth trying a couple to work out who to make your regular. The nursing staff are LOVELY. I enrolled at Richmond Road Medical Centre because it was close to my work, but years after leaving…read morethe area, I sit in the waiting room questioning why I don't just find a new doctor - it's very expensive to be seen by one of the doctors and the wait times are nigh on ridiculous. Whenever you make an appointment with RRMC, you may as well tack 30-50 minutes on to the end of the quoted time, because they are constantly late. Take a book (or maybe even a tent) for the waiting room; you're going to need it. That said, if you can get an appointment with Dr Phyll (I am not kidding), it's worth the wait. Being seen by Dr Phyll was one of the very best experiences with the medical profession I have ever had in my life. She is a wonderful doctor with a great presence and genuine care for her patients. Whenever I tussle with the idea of getting a new doctor, I'm reminded that she is the reason why I stay.
