Whenever you make an appointment with RRMC, you may as well tack 30-50 minutes on to the end of the quoted time, because they are constantly late. Take a book (or maybe even a tent) for the waiting room; you're going to need it. That said, if you can get an appointment with Dr Phyll (I am not kidding), it's worth the wait. Being seen by Dr Phyll was one of the very best experiences with the medical profession I have ever had in my life. She is a wonderful doctor with a great presence and genuine care for her patients. Whenever I tussle with the idea of getting a new doctor, I'm reminded that she is the reason why I stay.

Furthermore I wrote an email to the clinic shortly after my appointment raising my concerns and 36 hours later I'm yet to receive a response; not even a simple acknowledgement that they have received my message. The downside is that everyone else has worked this out too so it can be really hard to get an appointment the same day- not ideal if you haven't planned your illness in advance... However, last time we really needed an appointment on the day we rang, they offered to book us in with a nurse and got a doctor to pop out. Super helpful! Some doctors seem better than others so is worth trying a couple to work out who to make your regular. The nursing staff are LOVELY. The appearance of the place may come as a surprise - it's more than a little run down - but there's something quite charming about it and, seriously, it's $17!

Very shortly thereafter, Dr Ruoh Sim saw me. Even though it was the end of his shift, he heard me out on ALL my concerns and provided a solution for each one. I received a breathing treatment in the office, and the doctor gave me prescriptions before I left the office. Visit was 1 hour in total that included roughly 45 minutes of treatment time. Note: I am traveling from overseas, paid out of pocket, and had a flight scheduled for the following day. Dr Ruoh treated me with all of these factors in mind. Professional, kind, and thorough.

At this stage Glenfield Family Doctors were at their old location inside the Pharmacy on the same road just a few numbers down to the left. Years on, I continue to visit Jocelyn for check up's and when I come down with the flu, and also bring my little 16 month old to visit her when he also gets a bug. I love the new location of 575 Glenfield, as they are situated inside a bungalow and it's very homely and bright. The reception waiting room has some great toys and games for my little toddler to amuse himself with while he waits his turn too which really helps ease the time. The doctors and nurses at Glenfield Family are a wonderful cheerful group of ladies, who are professional and experts in what they do. I am always well looked after in every respect of my health when I walk in the doors of this clinic. Thanks so much Glenfield Family!

This Medical Centre also houses a podiatrist clinic and physio which is convenient. Unfortunately there is no longer a blood test lab attached to the building - this was one of its huge bonuses, but even so, it remains a trusty wee doctor's clinic to keep in mind! Dr. Julie Taylor was my doctor most of my life and I would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a new doctor. She's incredibly lovely and genuine, and absolutely dedicated to making sure you receive the health care you're after. Her locum doctor, Dr. Leone Russell is equally as great, so don't worry if Dr. Taylor isn't there - Leone will look after you! With a carpark behind the Medical Centre and lots of free on-street parking readily available this doctor's practice is easily accessible and very friendly.

I was actually recommended this practice, and in particular Dr. Heather King, by a family friend who is a doctor herself and so far I have been more than impressed. Dr. King and her fellow doctors at Balmoral Medical Centre treat each patient with care and don't try to rush people through. Though this can mean appointments often run longer than the usual 15minute time allotment, it's definitely worth it for the thorough and genuine care you receive. The downside, of course, is that if you're in a rush don't count on this practice running on time - but this is a common problem with most medical centres. Bonus: There is a brand new pharmacy that has opened up right next to the Balmoral Doctors, so you can get your prescriptions filled quickly and easily!

And that I was wasting her time, so all in all I felt like I was treated with alot of bias for my age and potentially how I was dressed (in leggings a large t shirt and a beanie- keep in mind I was sick and it was pouring with rain out side) I was basically treated like a moron who the nurse referred to as some one who walked off the street. Considering they do not know how much I earn or what job I have it would pay not to judge someone on looks and not to be so rude! Will never go back or recommend it

The actual appointments are also good, as no matter who I see at the clinic I always feel comfortable telling them about my medical ailments. Ok, so basically I have known this place all my 20 years and the best I can come up with is 'good', but seriously - can't think of any faults, and as long as I am in NZ or until my doctor ditches the place then I will keep coming back here without a doubt.

To accommodate those in wheelchairs (or for the entertainment of small children) they have a button on both sides of the front door that will automatically open it for you. Booking in the morning you will obviously have more of a chance of getting in and seeing your selected GP. Although this medical centre has all the niceties about it, it is very expensive. I suppose it is Remuera and that's to be expected, but it's certainly not cheap to come here. They do however accept community service cards which can sometimes help discount the price.

And I'm not talking about the procedures (even though that would be saying something good for the hospital) I'm talking about the experience here. The first time I came in was to have my tonsils out and I don't know what I was expecting but I wasn't expecting to wake up in such an awesome room. With a TV, a comfy bed and my own bathroom. It was wonderful. Waking up to a great room really does make a painful procedure that much better. The second time was for my wisdom teeth and, although I didn't get my own room this time, the short stay was just as nice! Third time lucky - bones cut out of my foot (don't ask). Again I had my own room, en-suit and all. Lucky me! The whole hospital is so fresh, clean and crisp. Pretty much exactly what you want and expect from one! I don't want to say "come on guys go and visit" or "I can't wait to go again" but I will say if you ever find yourself heading into Southern Cross for whatever reason I'm sure the experience will be good.

The doctor originally, and I quote, said "the story for appendicitis doesn't sound convincing to me, I doubt it's appendicitis"..... 12 hours later? You have appendicitis.. like okay! Great! That's what i'm supposed to think right? my surgery was then delayed an entire 3 days where I stayed in the surgery prep ward forced to at this point starve because I was constantly told to fast and "oh you'll be having the surgery today/soon!" Now I'm back a mere 6 days later after post op, I have almost identical pain and issues as to when I originally had appendicitis, what do they do in the first 24hrs? Absolutely NOTHING. I came through the ED, was told within an hour (for once I got to see the doctor fast - come at 7-8am or else you'll be waiting a minimum of 5hours) that I needed to get a CT scan done and that it should take 1-2hours. I was like "Great!".... then the ENTIRE day, I get told by the doctors yea yea well do the ct scan, only to then do ABSOLUTELY NO TESTS ALL DAY - not an ultrasound, nothing - make me fast ALL DAY and then decide not to do the CT scan at all at 7pm after I specifically told them id rather do it and go home if nothings wrong than waste a night here for you to not do it at all. 12 hours of being there for absolutely NOTHING because they refuse to get tests done to prove things or diagnose you.
