It's tough to come up with a 40th birthday gift for an estranged spouse. These days, the only thing we have in common is our children, so it seemed fitting to include them somehow. In a rare moment of clarity, I found a way to get this done, give business to a worthy photographer ( ahem, and friend) at the same time. I posed the idea to Tom, to do a photo shoot of my kids as a present for my wife and his energy and enthusiasm made me immediately think I made the right choice. We discussed locations and concepts based on what I had seen of his work. Tom had some fantastic ideas and was very receptive to my own ideas. Tom feels that the comfort of the subjects is important, so we decided to do an outdoor shoot at the park in the neighborhood where they grew up. The day came and although Tom had nothing to do with the weather, I couldn't help but feel that with the most beautiful fall day I'd ever seen, Tom has an in with Mother Nature. The shoot went flawlessly. He worked great with usually difficult kids and I could tell they felt at ease. My kids are into cosplay, where they like to dress up as their favorite characters. They loved that Tom incorporated their costumes into the shoot and couldn't wait for the pictures. And what pictures they were. I've never seen my kids look so good. The shots were classy, true and fun. I am more than pleased with the results and they were a big hit with everyone who got one. Tom uses an easy method for getting you your pics. He sets up a web page where you can view all shots and order them however you wish ( mugs, cards, photos, digital, etc) . With one click, a picture will be in your hands within hours. The overall experience with Tom, was one that I can't say enough good things about. Luckily, they were available for our new date. It was a stressful situation but they put our worries at ease. Same with our engagement shoot. We moved this multiple times due to Covid or weather implications and they never once gave us a hard time about it. They're both super responsive and it was so easy working with them. We've gotten the digital version of the photos, the full-length video, and 6-minute highlight video and they came out great. My husband and I don't know a whole lot about photography but we just told them that we don't want any heavy filters (like some of those super Asian wedding photos), and we want it to look natural, and they delivered! The package we bought was extremely reasonable and considerably cheaper than comparable NJ area wedding photographers. It includes photos, 10-hour video package, a canvas, a guestbook, a wedding photobook, engagement shoot, and drone footage. It took about a month for them to get the photos back to us, which I think is pretty good considering some wedding photo horror stories I've read about. There are some shots that were missed (i.e. I didn't get individual photos with my BMs, but my husband got individual shots with his GM), so if there is something you definitely want, be sure to make a shot list. He did get all of the Chinese wedding shots that your family would want, that we would never have thought of, so I was happy about that.
