So, in Episode 1 of TRC Photography, we discussed buying prints of Toms amazing work. In Episode 2 we discuss the other aspect of his services, The Photo Shoot. It's tough to come up with a 40th birthday gift for an estranged spouse. These days, the only thing we have in common is our children, so it seemed fitting to include them somehow. In a rare moment of clarity, I found a way to get this done, give business to a worthy photographer ( ahem, and friend) at the same time. I posed the idea to Tom, to do a photo shoot of my kids as a present for my wife and his energy and enthusiasm made me immediately think I made the right choice. We discussed locations and concepts based on what I had seen of his work. Tom had some fantastic ideas and was very receptive to my own ideas. Tom feels that the comfort of the subjects is important, so we decided to do an outdoor shoot at the park in the neighborhood where they grew up. The day came and although Tom had nothing to do with the weather, I couldn't help but feel that with the most beautiful fall day I'd ever seen, Tom has an in with Mother Nature. The shoot went flawlessly. He worked great with usually difficult kids and I could tell they felt at ease. My kids are into cosplay, where they like to dress up as their favorite characters. They loved that Tom incorporated their costumes into the shoot and couldn't wait for the pictures. And what pictures they were. I've never seen my kids look so good. The shots were classy, true and fun. I am more than pleased with the results and they were a big hit with everyone who got one. Tom uses an easy method for getting you your pics. I chose to do a city hall wedding because - I cringe at the thought of setting tables and picking flowers and making a big deal out of everything; - exchanging pleasantry with extended family and feigning interest all day felt like an even bigger chore; - I had to make an obnoxious political statement about millennials & fiscally responsible life choices & wedding industrial complex yada yada; - I have big time daddy issue and partly had the 'bullshit wedding' to troll my dad. but unconventional quirks aside, deep down every girl wanted to look conventionally pretty for that one special day. He knows all the spots and angles, and if i hadn't been half an hour late for my 2 hr appointment (blaming it on the pouring rain/highway traffic) he was planning on going to a beautiful park nearby for more pictures. we got solid 90 minutes of pictures. my friend took pictures from the same angles and we saw those pictures immediately and thought they turned out really well - until we saw the professionally edited ones! read more

Tom did the photography for my wedding and was awesome. Leading up to this I would begrudgingly e-mail photographers thinking I'd never not get the response "packages start at $7000". When Tom replied I was pleasantly surprised at how it actually fell within my price range (and with albums! - you won't know how rare this is until you need to look into it). Tom's an easy guy to work with - he explained everything like prices and services over a few beers and then went to work scouting locations and asking all the important questions. When the big day came, he and his 2nd photog Meredith were totally on top of things, almost definitely more than I was. I even had to ask Tom's advice during the thing on scheduling issues since I apparently never paid any attention to anything at any previous wedding I was at. The pictures came out great, as expected, and Tom has been very patient with two people who are even lazier after the thing was over than they were before (we'll pick those pictures soon man). Also - no proof book here, but all the individual pictures printed out and hand delivered with the CD which is pretty sweet. The man is a marvel. Professional, enthusiastic and brimming with talent. He was able to work with a 5 month old and keep him (and in turn me) in good spirits throughout a near two hour shoot. Coming up with creative solutions as to how to position the kiddo in new ways; hence achieving camera angles and shots no one expected. Thomas went so far as to remove the contents of his camera bag and use the foam padding within to create a makeshift chair with a hollowed seat to allow for the child to be seated stably within it, after it was covered with a white towel we happen to have on hand. After a bit of Photoshop, the results were gorgeous shots of a smiling baby sitting up. Shots that without such ingenuity would have been impossible due to the baby's fidgety nature. The rest of the family were all photographed as well and everyone was all smiles both throughout the experience of the shoot and after seeing the results. The few edits that we requested after reviewing the shots online, such as cropping, were done quickly and flawlessly. These were our first family pictures and Thomas Made them memorable. The bottom line is that we enjoyed the whole experience so much that my better half and I decided to come back with our new puppy to do another shoot. Being an animal lover himself, Thomas beamed with excitement when told of the prospect of working with a dog, suggesting parks and places around the city. Like I said, the man is a marvel. read more

We loved our previous pictures so much we hired Tom again! This time we threw a lot of chaos in the mix, because we wanted to be outdoors, with a dog, in a park with other dogs, and a large geese & squirrel populations.
