Not just any Port in a Storm…read more Buying a home in Northern California is extremely stressful -- even in the best of times -- and these are not the best of times. Coming from another state also presents a rather steep learning curve, the wood loving pests don't die here, and California has millions of confusing regulations -- laws that present the deceptive appearance of protecting you from tragedy, but mostly seem to have massively increased the amount of paperwork you are supposed to make sense of. Choosing a knowledgeable realtor to guide you through troubled waters has probably never been more important, (but not easy, considering there seem to be far more realtors than houses in this part of the world). Laurie was that safe harbor in the storm for us, and I can't recommend her enough. Not my first rodeo, as I've bought a home before and made my fair share of mistakes (watch out for massive trees next to your foundation), but since we were buying a home while living in another state, and running a business at the same time, we really needed a realtor who was going to go far above and beyond what most seem to do. We needed her to completely handle more than a few series of inspections (house, pests, well, water quality, roof, permit history, etc. etc.), and be able to make sense of those inspections. We also needed her to manage a non typical escrow and line up contractors and tradespeople we could trust. Laurie kept on top of a million balls in the air the whole time.
