I took classes here during the summer of 2017 and the bio professors here were kind, informative, entertaining in their delivery, and helpful (Professors Kelly Lum-Naihe and Erik Gergus). Thr labs and classrooms were spacious and clean. I also recently called the admissions and records office to get old transcripts and the person who helped me was really attentive and patient. It's wild to me that I contacted my school ahead of time to let them know about my surgery (cancer treatment) on Wednesday, and they still made it mandatory that I come to class today. They did "graciously" allow me to skip the lecture and only attend the 3 hour lab. Off I go with drains, no pain meds, and lifting my books which is above my restriction.! read more

Wow we used to drive down here when I was in High school and sit on the bleachers and watch the fireworks. Couldn't get anymore up close and personal. They were straight above us! I finished high-school early and I spent half of my junior year and all of my senior year here but one hour of class in the morning where I assisted in our high school's main office. Back then I didn't feel they had the best support getting new students set up for their career paths. Especially for the unique educational requirements Arizona had and still may have for social work and psychology. They have come a long way. I was an honor student here and my favorite class was sociology. For a special project on a paper my teacher Thomas Powell who used to work in the criminal justice system and who has since passed, met me in Scottsdale with a couple other LGBTQ students in our class. He took me on his Harley Davidson and we all met at a gay bar his close friend owned. Don't worry our professor was was very appropriate and was old enough to my my father! He had 2 daughter's older than me he cared about dearly. We had so much fun, I drank Shirley Temples and they drank soda. I learned so much and we met some really awesome people. We passed out surveys people filled out and we learned finding jobs was challenge. We did a class project together working with local businesses and corporations in the valley advertising and communicating with the LGBTQ community jobs that were available to everyone! We advertised at job fairs all that year. That project is why I and my two classmates made it on the honors program. The bar owner is now 77 and was a huge part of the start of and opening the door for the Melrose District. We still keep in touch even to this day. So many good teachers, students and good times here. I am glad to see more eaterys in the area and Starbucks. This area is really growing. read more

The Enrollment Center is by far, some of the worst group of working individuals I have ver had to deal with. I am a veteran attempting to enroll in courses, I became a student as was told I was cleared by them and I needed to now certify enrollment with VA services. Then, I was told by VA services that I needed to show proof of Arizona residency, and that I needed to call Admissions. I was told I needed to come in person and I only needed to bring my car registration to show proof of residence, I take PTO because of their working hours and was seen, from the get go the lady at GR16 was rude and di not want to be there. She began to tell me I needed 3 forms of proof and I needed to fill out a paper, additionally, she stated I did not need to come in person and it could have been handled via email. I asked her for assistance on filling out the paper and she told me I needed to "leave and fill it out on my own" because she needed to see more people waiting. There was not one single person waiting, completely incompetent and completely useless. I took PTO to go down to GCC, get told I needed additional documents, and then rushed out so she would not have to work, and I still got told if I email it today it would not get cleared until next week. Place is unsatisfactory and I would urge students , especially veterans to choose a smarter more respectable option. read more

Campus is beautiful especially around golden hour. The staff were helpful when I needed to find where I was going. The instructors I had were all good and there are many opportunities to go in for tutoring or to ask your instructor about anything you don't know or even just to talk about something related to the class or what you are studying. I only had a couple instructors that came off a little hard to approach at first but once I needed to talk to them it was easy and they were willing to help me. I found I was able to enjoy most of my classes because the instructors made it as easy as they could to take in without talking down to us like children. When I had an issue with my enrollment status and financial aid I was ale to promptly get it resolved and everyone I spoke to in the enrollment center and in financial aid were helpful. The student union was great, hopefully it has been able to reopen. The coffee shop has some delicious selections but the café is definitely where you want to go for the food. They have a lot of good items/selections on their menus. Overall, Great campus, great instructors, and surprisingly good food. read more

Went in on 8/27/21 to take my State board exam to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Three wonderful ladies by the names of Roxanne C, Maryann A, and Hala S work in the Testing Services Building. They really made my day after my exam. I was so nervous through the whole session. My family and I had been going through an unexpected loss in the family and all types of emotions came out, including tears. The ladies were there to console me and as well to congratulate me on passing my exam. They are definitely Angels. For them to hear a complete stranger cry and vent, shows that they have a Heart of Gold. I will never forget how they cheered me up but yet let me cry on their shoulder. Thank You So Much ladies, it means the world to me that you were there beside me after my test results. read more

I have never attended GCC but I have received an offset on my AZ taxes for 2023 for a ticket they said I owed back on 9/11/19 for parking in an employee space. They never sent me a letter in the mail saying I owed this and they had access to my home address and email address. Please be careful where you park because 5 years from now they will take your tax refund even though you never attended that school or recall visiting it. They took $59 for a ticket I never received noticed on. If your child was driving a car you owned they will look up the license plate via MVD and charge the car owner. So if your child gets a ticket and doesn't tell you just know you wont receive any notification and will be charged for it 5 years from now. read more

I attended GCC when I completed my Bachelor's degree. I loved that NAU had options to complete their university programs locally at community colleges. I never had to move away from home to complete my four years of school. I'm really thankful I had that option. The campus and classrooms were clean and well maintained. This review is purely based on the perspective of an employee of Chandler-Gilbert Community College who attended a meeting here in the Student Union. It was a nice meeting space. The Student Union is a more inviting student space than at CGCC. For example there is a coffee shop inside the student union, and separate game rooms for students to play video games ping-pong or pool. The campus is much larger and has 60 clubs unlike CGCC. About 10 years ago when I lived in Peoria, I took a few fitness classes at Glendale and was very happy with them. Overall I think it's probably a great community college! read more

No need to go to the gym at this overly crowded campus, because you'll get plenty of exercise walking to your class from your car...if you are lucky to find a parking spot. I'm about to get my AA from GCC, been going here since spring of 07'. I've found that you get a lot more individual attention, instructors usually have office hours that will help if you need it. they've been building new buildings and remodeling another. they just finnished remodeling the business building and just finished another muti level building. they are also starting a Public services building for the EMT and AJS classes. The bad- the school has been adding "class fees" to all the classes, so they can say that tuition is $71 a credit hour but then you have a $10 class fee making a that 3 credit hour class $223 not $213. they've also started charging students to print at the High tech centers, $.10 per page, they haven't done that before. read more

Pasty with GCC there are planned payment programs to help you pay off such a small amount. Lastly and the most important in my opinion that makes Glendale Community College the best community college would be the programs and atmosphere. Many can tell you that Glendale Community College is the one college that doesn't make you feel like your walking a marathon but still give the college effects: the view the image and yet the classes still give you the homebody of effect and doesn't really take you away from the high school time but still teaches you the life of a college student. Glendale community college has many programs, one of which is the ACE program which allows high school students to get the college experience as early as their sophomore year and get college credits that can again transfer to any other school of their choice. Another program is an outreach program that is made to extend Glendale community college educational programs to people in need of help without the funds. This school gets a C+ to a B-. The main plus about this school is that it offers lower priced courses when compared to ASU. Therefore, those looking to transfer can save money by getting their pre-requisites out of the way. Conversely, be prepared for harder sciences. The sciences (i.e., biology, chemistry, etc.) tend to be taught by professors (or lecturers) that are more serious than you will find at ASU. So expect a bigger challenge with respect to these courses. Overall, this place needs a makeover. Some of the newer buildings (and those that have been renovated) show the class that is potentially available at GCC. However, most of the buildings are in need of repair. A general overhaul of this place would do wonders. All-in-all: It's a good place to start and save on your education if you are planning to transfer up. read more

I took most of my prerequisite classes here but a couple at other Maricopa classes as well and every instructor I have had here is amazing and really care about the success of their students! They really give their students the attention they need and make time out of class available for students to come in and ask questions. The library is beautiful and very accommodating there are study group rooms of class made for 3 to 4 people Max. There are so many computers and printers and scanners available for the students. The Student Union is also quite nice there is a coffee shop and more areas to sit and study. The bookstore is also impressive I received most of my school belongings from that store it is reasonably priced and has a variety of different materials to choose from. The campus is smoke-free however and quite spread out and most of the outdoors benches and sitting areas are in the sun directly so it gets very hot. read more

I really, really like GCC! I will be starting my third semester here at GCC working towards attending a four university for a music degree. The music department at GCC is excellent! I have been very impressed with the quality of the professors and the music program in general. Since I have already attended a four year university and obtained a Bachelor's degree in the past (where one often has teaching assistants and the quality of TA's can be hit or miss), it is great to actually have professors teaching your classes here at GCC. There has not been one professor that I have been disappointed with. They are all very knowledgeable, fair and caring. It seems like such a no-brainer to me... attend a community college with good professors and with community college tuition. Can't ask for a better deal. read more

The enrollment center has dropped me from all of my classes several times for "non-payment" when i have deferred payment plans. Long lines to speak with anyone, whether on the phone or in person. These guys have to seem their act together. A good system in place for testing and advising students new to the campus. Placement testing is walk-in and you get your results immediately. You can then meet with an academic advisor immediately to plan your class schedule, register, etc. Staff is friendly and helpful, which is a little unusual because at most community colleges, the staff act more like postal employees who dread their very existence. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the staff at GCC. I have attended PVCC and was very pleased with their young, and passionate professors. I did not experience that at Glendale Community College. I had several professors that used the book and rarely lectured. I had one professor specifically who missed several weeks of class, was on an oxygen tank throughout the semester, and did not allow for a substitute teacher during her week long hospital stay. I felt that the professors did not care about the success of the students, they were simply there for the paycheck and soon retirement.. I would advise anyone to choose any other school besides this one. This is your money and you are entitled to passionate, caring professors and an education that lasts a lifetime. read more

The cost is pretty cheap and a good way to get some of the basic college credits out of the way. It's a pretty spread out campus, which can be the only bad thing. My first few classes went by quickly, I had no interest or desire to spend any extra time examining the campus. Now that my classes are getting more serious and I am spending more time at GCC, I must admit it was a very nice surprise. Library has great resources, HT1 and 2 always have available tutors (courses and levels have set schedule), student center is great place to kill some time, there is a lot of outdoor area to sit and chill. Every class and instructor I had so far was just as demanding as it should be (again, depending on the level of study). Since I haen't really attend any other community collee in the valley I can't compare, but I would definitely recommed GCC read more

Well equipped fitness center with instructors available if needed. A welcoming atmosphere for adults both young and old. Enrolled over the phone but a screwup happened--signed up for the wrong class due to being given bad info. At that time I did question the huge increase. Later in the Fitness Center I read their fee schedule and noted the error. Over to the Enrollment Center to get this corrected. After a long 45 minutes, fixed.
