We used glenda to have our house cleaned when we moved out for our new buyers. We had our personal items packed away in our closet to get us through the next few days while we were moving. Upon arriving to our house we noticed our personal items were thrown into trash bags and tossed into the garage. Once we went through the bags to recover our personal items out of the trash, we noticed that my wife's wedding ring was missing, along with her grandmothers wedding ring that had been passed down to her. We were also missing my wife's overnight bag, her tennis shoes, her outfit for moving the next day, and our phone chargers. We cannot legally confirm that glendas team stole these items, as we are all innocent until proven guilty. However, she did confirm that her team did in fact throw everything in the house into trash bags and tossed them into garage. We filed a police report the next day and the police indicated that she had been very defensive and uncooperative and would not speak with them or give her full name or the names of those on her team. I left a review before and she threatened to contact her lawyer if we did not remove the review - I have since made sure that everything in this review does not fall in line with defamation and I'm well within my rights to leave this review. WORST. CLEANING. EVER. Found this company on a Valpak coupon promising $100 discount. First time using the service, I was hit with a $395 charge - saying that this was already a discounted price. Okay... OVERPRICED. They sent 3 ladies for a move-in cleaning. House was empty so just needed to clean windows, inside cabinets, door frames, things like that. NONE of which was clean. To our detriment we have used this cleaning service for several years now for several homes that we have but after the experience we had yesterday we will never be using them again. There were always problems with either not getting a full cleaning or cleaners being late or leaving before they were done and now we understand why The ladies to do the cleaning themselves are fantastic, Glenda is the problem. They did a decent job overall but broke part of my sink which the owner still has yet to have fixed. There were multiple areas in the house that were left dirty- sticky areas on floors, spots on walls, dirty doors, etc. and nothing was left in its place- items were left on counters haphazardly. I contacted the owner about this stating it wasn't worth the price. She offered to come out and redo, I said that was unnecessary I just wanted the missed areas fixed. We hired Glenda's Cleaning to do a "deep-cleaning and we barely got a "touch-up" cleaning. Like many others, the $100 coupon lured us in, but we definitely did not get what we payed for. We actually had to go in and sweep the floors that hadn't been touched. Further, we had an incident of a couple missing items, to which we addressed immediately with the cleaning staff that was on-site. Due to the language barrier they claimed not to understand no matter how it was asked. They actually left the premises very shortly and came back in and were once again asked about the missing items. The owner, Glenda, was called and the situation was explained, she was rude and verbally combative and basically blamed us for still leaving items in the home. During conversations prior to hiring the service, Glenda was advised that there were still items in the home and she assured us that her staff does deep-cleaning all the time in homes that are furnished, definitely NOT the case. This was one of the worst business that we have ever dealt with. We now know that we should have looked at some of the other reviews stating some of these very same issues i.e. Glenda is the problem, they don't do thorough cleaning and they over-charge. Thursday, January 28, 2021 Glenda's cleaning service did an excellent job on their first-time deep cleaning of the entire home on Monday, January 25 which includes three floors(two floors and a large basement) and charged $495 for their work(approximately 7-8 hours). They were well-prepared wearing face masks, but I do not believe they were wearing gloves when they entered the home. However I would like to make a few comments. When the cleaning employees came to my parents' bedroom, they appeared to be a bit hasty and I witnessed them knocking over the telephone in the parents' bedroom and more importantly the Merlin St. Jude Medical Transmitter(Abbott) device that monitors my Dad's pacemaker (Dr. S. Manickavasagar) somehow became unplugged from the electrical outlet at some point during their cleaning when they were vacuuming and sweeping. During the time the pacemaker device was unplugged, there may not have been data transmission to the cardiologist's office. The device has never been unplugged since we first obtained it in August 2019, and it seemed a bit careless that while cleaning, it somehow became unplugged. When I noticed that the device was unplugged, I quickly plugged in the device. My mother Dr. Marie Manickavasagar repeatedly reminded them that this is the pacemaker monitoring system and yet it became unplugged while cleaning around the lamp. While I appreciate that they swept under the beds, furniture and placed all garbage in a trash bag, they could have been more careful since there was a Texas Instruments calculator, combs, nail clippers, etc. in the trash bag. I became concerned seeing such a large trash bag on the second floor. Just to make sure there were no valuable items, I searched through the trash. While 95-99% of the bag was trash, there were still a few items such as the calculator that were inadvertently thrown away. While I appreciate a multi-cultural society and I have taken two introductory courses in Beginning Spanish at Old Dominion University with A grades in summer 2005, they were speaking Spanish most of the time and when my parents and I spoke to them, sometimes it appeared that they had difficulty understanding. This is the WORST cleaning service I have ever used. We live in Fawn Lake and our realtor recommended this service, as many people in the area use Glenda's Cleaning Service. Unfortunately, we were ripped off and our house was not cleaned. Glenda charged us $595 to clean our 4 bedroom house. That is $100 above the normal price of $495, and $200 above the price for new customers like us. She said they would do a "move-in" cleaning, which included cleaning the whole house, including floors, baseboards, kitchen appliances, window sills, and inside the cabinets. When we moved in shortly after her "ladies" cleaned our home, we noticed that the kitchen sink in the basement had huge cob webs in it and had not been touched at all. The cabinets had old crumbs in the back. The windowsills were dirty and so were the baseboards. The microwave had not been touched either. I think they sprayed air freshner and vacuumed only because literally everything else was dirty. When I called Glenda to let her know that her ladies had not done the service we paid for, she accepted no responsibility and only eventually offered for them to come back out and clean again. I then asked her for a refund, noting that after we paid her $595 to clean our house, we noticed that her website advertises a price of $395 for new customers. She then told me that the $395 price is only given upon request and since we did not ask for it, we could not get it. Again, she offered for her cleaning ladies to come back out and reclean, but, I do not even want them back in my house, as I feel they lack integrity completely and did not clean. After spending a few more minutes on the phone with her complaining about the fact that I felt completely ripped off, Glenda eventually said she would give me $100 back, taking me down to $495. However, she said she would have to call me back later to process the refund because she was not in the office. It is now over a week later and she NEVER CALLED BACK. When I called her back again today, she was incredibly rude and told me that I was being unfair to her. Oh the irony! I CANNOT BELIEVE we WASTED nearly $600 on this "service". She even had the nerve to tell me that regardless of what prices are listed on her website, the price she charged me - $200 above what is charged for new clients - is in fact what she charges Fawn Lake residents. To this day, I still have NO REFUND of any sort because when I spoke with her the second time (I called her since she never called back), she used the SAME excuse that she would need to go to her office to process my refund and would call me back when she gets in the office. We will see if I hear back from her. In the meantime, I ended up having to clean my entire house myself, which is infuriating because that is exactly why I paid someone else - so that I would not have to do it. I called they did the " Deep Cleaning" which went Ok. Areas were missed being cleaned. I gave them another try and was disappointed. ..First communication., never called to confirm appointment . I had to contact them.. then was told not today tomorrow.. staff arrived half hour late.. in a rush they were very busy.. they had bags on their shoulders that knocked off my plants on walkway and I told them to careful inside as well not to break anything. Hardwood floors were NOT cleaned just vacuumed. (saw my dogs dirty spot still on floor after they left) which was one of my BIG cleaning spots areas Stove was not wiped down and other small areas. with having arthritis and not being able to clean my natural hardwood floors like I could in the past.. I thought they would help me there. I went to local HD and purchased the floor cleaners and did it myself after they left. I should not have to do this when I paid $$ to have the task done.. I has used them twice now, once for a move-in cleaning and a deep clean of my current home. For $295, the first cleaning was through enough for a move-in but the ladies 1) used general purpose cleaner for the walls and baseboards and 2) sprayed it all over the wall paint while doing so instead of trying to keep it on the wood. Whatever they use does NOT clean the door jambs/baseboards very well. BUT since it was not a deep clean, I did not complain too much but did let Glenda know about the spraying issue. I also told her about using Magic Erasers on white door jambs and such as it really gets marks off with little effort. I also had them dust the walls as they needed it. It was not a bad experience as they wiped out all the drawers and cabinets and pulled out the fridge and stove to clean behind them. So, I hire them for a deep clean of my current house as it is about to go on the market and having it staged. She comes out to look because I tell her that her normal $495 price for large houses won't be enough. She quotes me $1200, which, for a deep cleaning of my large house seemed reasonable, especially for the number of windows needing to be cleaned. I ask her if they are going to do the higher things like the ceiling fans and the high windows if I provide the ladder, she says yes. I also reiterate the staging and needing it spotless. Having seen other reviews, I told her not to do my stainless stove top but that the ovens needed to be done. They arrive 1 hour late. She said she would send some in the morning and then a couple more at 11. NOPE. She said she sent her brother to deal with the ladders--never happened. My upper windows were not cleaned. /I had to stop them in the first room and have them do the windows over because whaever they were using-regular white towels- were leaving them foggy and smeared and not clean. I suggested to use vinegar and water and I let them have my case of paper towels. Better but with disgruntled looks. When I checked the upper window sills, they were filthy and untouched. I said they had to be wiped down with a wet cloth. The girl tried to tell me that she couldn't wipe it with a wet cloth 'because the pet hairs would get rubbed into the paint'. I told her that was impossible and to please wipe all surfaces, as originally requested. They just didn't want to do a thorough job because to them, you couldn't see it from the floor so why bother. One of the ovens was still filthy and the other had to be re-done. I asked multiple times for the baseboards and chair railings to be re-done because, as I showed him, there was a ton of areas they missed or did a crappy job of doing in the bedroom like spider webs still under the cabinets, dirt still on the doors, areas where it was clear it had not been touched. I apologized for complaining, but said that I did specify a deep clean. They would come in for a few minutes and leave. I would re-inspect. STILL dirty and I am NOT some OCD person freaking out over some tiny thing. So, I started doing the very thing I was trying to avoid by hiring them to help me--I sat there on the floor re-doing the baseboards and wiping chair rails. I ended up doing all of my outer kitchen cabinets because he said they just use water to clean the kitchen cabinets. WHAT??? All kitchen cabinets in the universe have some film on them from the grease and oil naturally found in using a kitchen--even if you don't see it. Water wasn't going to do anything to clean them. So I ended up doing a bunch of work I was paying them to do. Towards the end, when I kept finding stuff like the ovens while they were in the basement, I lost it and called the owner. I was crying because I was so upset about the situation. And to be fair, the people who came were very nice so I hated having to complain. I told her what was happening and she said she was going to have one of the ladies talk to me. NOPE. No one talked to me. Light fixtures still undone full of dust and cobwebs, ovens filthy and needing to be redone, marking left on my tub from where they tried to vacuum around it, using their defective vacuum cleaner, which I now have to find a solution for, upper windows not done as promised, butlers pantry not even touched (I did not require them to do the main pantry), some areas of baseboards not touched, floors not swept or mopped in basement, bedroom in basement not done. They got paid and did not fulfill the commitment from the owner to do a deep clean. When I called, her response was that she wasn't making any money on the job. BS! You came out yourself to give the quote so you knew full and well what was needed. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!! will not recommend or use again. Terrible service. I was told they do a thorough cleaning including windows. The windows were done ... but the smears they caused I could have done without! Additionally one of the cleaning women pushed out one of the screens and it landed on the roof below the second floor window. She made no attempt to get it back. Then another woman pushed out the shower glass door and made no attempt to put it back. Only after I called the owner did she try to explain herself to me saying "that's an old shower door. It happens all the time. " Really?? If it happens all the time, why not fix it or be more careful in the first place? No floors were cleaned either. FREDERICKSBURG VA: I have been a client Glenda's Cleaning Services in Fredericksburg VA for 3-4 years. They provided weekly cleaning service for my home. Recently, the employees scoured my Viking Pro cooktop with steel wool and scratched away the markings for the burners. The owner, Glenda, inspected the damage and stated "My ladies did wrong. I am responsible." She immediately filed a claim with her insurance company but now is stating to the insurance company that her employees did not damage the cooktop. She is not being truthful and is trying to avoid the responsibility for the damage done; the damage she admitted was caused by her employees. Twice I had to call them for not showing up in a timely fashion. Once they were stuck in traffic, but couldn't be bothered to call me and tell me. The second time I was told your appointment is next week. Once they had to come the day after my appointment because they forgot me altogether. When I called to inquire if they were coming I was told , Oh I knew we forgot someone, but I couldn't remember who.They don't know what a calendar is and don't take the initiative to call their customers. I contacted Glenda's Cleaning Service in response to an ad I saw which contained a coupon for a discount on your first cleaning. I was quoted a price based on my square footage, and when I asked about the coupon I was told it was already included in the price I was quoted ($295). A bit disappointing but ok I thought, my house is on the larger side. I was told that the first cleaning would include EVERYTHING and that the 3 cleaners would be in my house between 5-6 hours. Neither of which was the case. They were done in almost 3 hours and the job they did was the furthest thing from a deep house cleaning that one can imagine. I found myself having to go back and clean after them which defeats the purpose of hiring someone to do a deep cleaning. When I contacted them to let them know my dissatisfaction, they didn't even have the common courtesy to respond. Very unprofessional from start to finish. read more
