My father and I chose this course during our vacation, expecting an enjoyable round of golf. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. At $150 for 18 holes for two players, the price suggested a level of quality that simply was not delivered. The course itself shows clear potential in its layout and design. However, the overall upkeep and management detract significantly from that promise. Course conditions were inconsistent, with the greens and sand traps in particular needing considerable improvement. For both locals and visitors, just about any other course would be a better option that would offer stronger value and a more satisfying experience. read more

You have got to be kidding. $80 for some of the worst green conditions I've ever seen. I understand I'm not local to Gulf Shores but to charge a rate like this for greens that are basically dirt and leave your hands green from whatever fungicide or fertilizer they've used is unreal. I really feel that $40 or $50 would be plenty for the conditions. read more

I have a friend that is a member of this golf club and he also lives nearby to it so that makes for a very convenient situation to access this club. I'm horrible at golf while I'm great at enjoying some beverages while other people play golf. The Glenlakes Golf Club has a nice little bar and also serves food. So far I've enjoyed spending some time at the bar but I haven't had time to sample the food yet. At some point I will likely end up eating here and then I will update this review. read more

The conditions of the course have improved a lot but its still not worth 70 dollars for 18 and a cart. I'd pay no more than 50. Some of the Marshalls are assholes. Props to the grounds crew for improving the course. read more

can't remember when i played a course as horrible as Glenlakes . all greens were barely alive - do not play this course. in addition my war hero nephew whom was in action and wounded was dishonored by not giving him a vet discount. Had to be an active vet. only course in gulf shores that had this policy as we were in gulf shores all week. Even worse, the manager having heard of this offered us to play again for just a cart fee. It cost 69 dollars to play the first time with a cart and when we showed up for the 2nd round he charged us a $45 cart fee. Really? I've played golf all over the country and have two club memberships - cost $20 cart fee for one of them and $25 for the other PRIVATE 4 star courses Shame on you read more

I understand that new owners have recently purchased this golf course (recently, as in, dunno, two years or less maybe?) and they have it running nice and smoothly! Staff are friendly and helpful! The starter was very knowledgeable and ensured we received iced towels, which is a super nice touch on a hot South AL day! The course marshall kept us on track in a not-too-grumpy-way when the 90 degree rule was imparted after a brief rain, and we failed to see the sign :-) The course itself if in great shape! There are actually 3 9-hole courses (Vista, Dunes, and Lakes). We played all but the Dunes, which most everyone agreed was the most difficult of the three. The cost was 45.00 on this Saturday in Sept., and they offered a 15.00/person with cart deal for the following day. There were $5 off coupon rack cards laying around too. I think it is a semi-private club, run by several of the members. It was not overbooked and we only had to let a couple of small groups play through even though one of our threesome had never played an entire 18 hole round before, so we were pitifully slow. If you ask at the pro shop you get the most beautifully done soft copy "course guide" which has a page dedicated to each hole, with the distance to each hazard and to the hole. There is room to write your personal notes, too. It's definitely useful and a nice touch! The restrooms and locker room were all nice and we called in a lunch order to eat at the turn and the ladies in the bar and grill (both staff and players/visitors) were so friendly. We had everything from hot dogs to BLTs to Grilled cheese sandwiches and beers and colas. There is no beverage cart service, but I did spot one restroom *on* course, which is a plus, for us ladies. The Club does have a driving range and a practice putting green but I'm not sure if it has a pitching area. Do try Glen Lakes. You'll enjoy yourself and leave wanting to return. I don't like to leave reviews with negativity but there a couple things that I have to say about this golf course. First the layout is excellent. I loved the holes. The problem was that this place could be a "top-notch golf course but it's not in the best shape. The greens were all burnt out looking and had been sanded. They were however lightning fast which took awhile to get used to since the practice putting green was much slower. (This is also a pet peeve of mine). The greens fees were decent. I got a rate of $27 for 18 holes and a cart which is very good. The problem is that we're on vacation and needed to rent clubs. The rental clubs were trashed, dirty and old. Oh, and it cost me $40 per set. (We needed two). So $56 for golf and carts for two, $80 for clubs?!?!, WTF? and by the way, no balls or tees included. Tack on another $30. For those. I'd probably golf here again because it was a nicely laid out course. Hopefully the greens keepers can do a better job taking care of the course. Golf carts (both in our group) did not have working park brake. Spent too much time trying to make sure cart did not roll away. Front nine dunes has drainage issues. Many places in the fairway or near fairway has standing water. Back nine was much better. All staff was friendly, pub and starters. read more

If you want to golf at a course that treats it's golf carts better than it's customers then this is the course for you. Parking lot was full except for 2 parking spots next to several carts that occupied the 2 adjacent parking spots. I pulled into one pf the empty ones and was rudely informed that these spots were for club carts with no exception. So, having no where to park, I saved my $60 dollars and went to a more customer friendly course. read more

Nice, like a nice muni. Tale of two nines. One nine Pete Dye like. All mounds and grass waste right at greens edge. Hit a good iron off 5' and never find ball. Stupid. Have played this course several times and never had a bad experience. Staff are very friendly and work hard to ensure you have a great day. What a great outing! My friend and I took our kids, I have twin boys and his son 5,8,8. Their first time on a larger course, we were able to play 18 and let them hit a little with no pressure and not holding anyone one up. Course was in excellent shape, well taken care of, greens were some of the best I have seen in awhile, not to mention fairways, wow! Nice relaxing layout to work on your game and enjoy it ,with some challenge holes. Played the Vistas and Lakes. We will play again when back this way.
