He and or his staff are slow to follow through and follow up. He has suggested actions without consideration for the person's entire health situation. As an internist, he's the 'conductor of the patient's healthcare orchestra' so to speak. Dr. Tyler is not aware enough of the patient when they walk in - it feels like he's trying to jog his memory as he's talking to you and that he sometimes forgets fairly significant aspects fo the patient's heatlh. For example, he recommended continuous oxygen use but didn't note what that means for CPAP use. This required that we call back with obvious follow up questions that you'd expect an internist/who "knows his patients" to proactively consider and instruct to to begin with. Given the limited office hours 9 to 3p a few days a week with 2 hours for lunch getting answers and call backs for information that should have been provided to begin with is frustrating.

Unfortunately, her front desk is the reason my gf doesn't get the care she deserves. My gf has to call 6 or 7 times (leaving voicemails) sometimes before she gets a call back. I have to constantly see her stress about not hearing back or not getting her prescription refilled. There has been 2 situations where my gf just had to go to urgent care because she could not get a hold of the doctor or even a call back. Who is in charge of scheduling or answering phones at this place?! What kind of business is being run here? This doctor is a great doctor. I have met her myself and her care is amazing, but what's the point of being such a great doctor if it takes 2 months to make an appointment or have such a rude receptionist who never replies back. I am rating this on a whole, and as a whole, I am not happy with this place.

That was the same day I had a problem with the front office about scheduling an appointment through the Mychart portal. I opened the documentation notes and low and behold the person I spoke with over the phone that day Cynthia, has taken it upon herself to add notes regarding our interaction. These notes paint a false narrative, were not added by my doctor, and do not in any way pertain to my medical well being. Cynthia has her name attached to the documentation, listed as Cynthia H. I think it is grossly unprofessional to have a front desk worker/scheduler add any notes to a patient's medical profile on the Mychart portal, that are not pertaining to patient health. Notes regarding a bad interaction on a telephone call have nothing to do with one's health. These types of notes should be entered into one's file in that specific office, not on the Mychart portal. Even after the numerous bad interactions I've had with front desk workers there, they have never added notes regarding these interactions to the Mychart portal, only Cynthia H. This kind of unprofessional behavior solidifies that I have made the right decision to move on from this office. I ran into Dr. Lily Nourmand in person last week at a birthday party and she was very pleasant as always. Again, it's unfortunate that front desk workers have the ability to ruin relationships between doctors and their patients.

The front office employees hover over others with full blown conversations right in front of you, typical of UCLA, so there is no respect of privacy for the patient and very little to no regard for optimal patient treatment. Dehumanizing is certainly one way to put it. And not to mention some of their sour attitudes in both their verbal and nonverbal communications with you. When I tried communicate to the office manager, jasmine jack, about how inattentive and dismissive the doctor is, and how he really does not make much of an effort at all, all she did was to continue gaslighting me and defending her employees to her customers, even after this became an established behavioral pattern in the doctor, years after year. And UCLA wonders why people don't bother complaining to them! I wish I did not stick around for the several years that I did. At first I thought that maybe the doctor was having a "bad day" but the next time and next time and next time I saw this man, he would completely ignore me giving answers to his questions, even though I reiterated my answer to him - FOUR TIMES! Still ignored me! Complete Silence on his end, and again, established behavioral patterns. Yes, that's how Much this fella "cares." And yes, the office mgr still gaslighted everything. All this because this fella is inflexible with not wanting to do Doximity or zoom. Other doctors are Much more agreeable than this and when there is a problem, others will try to find workable Solutions, but not this doctor and not this office, for sure. Also, I cannot make an endless amount of doctor appointments just to get my basic questions answered just because the doctor failed to be communicative during all The times I already see him For follow up Visits. And especially when I already have 50+ appointments per month just to stay afloat and wait hand and foot on all these offices that really find no helpful solutions to incurable illnesses. Interestingly enough, my spiritual counselor commented on how at least four or five other clients of hers complained vehemently about the abusiveness of ucla to her within the same week I had mentioned all this office's abuses. These complaints and negative reviews of this doctor's office are some of their most accurate and honestly authentic accounts of having to deal with such abusive offices like this one. Adhering to the wisdom of these negative reviews is strongly advised if you don't want to suffer from its wear and tear of all this office's antics. This group, typical of ucla offices, has no shame, on every level of the word. And not a care in the world about us. When encountering the occasional employee that is respectful and trustworthy, that is a rarity inside ethe UCLA affiliation. Thankfully I am in much better care with a different doctor. But now this office does not want to send me a copy of my own medical records to me now too. Note Regarding signed authorization forms: When the patient provides the entity with his own signed authorization form to obtain a copy of records and go over policies like insurance coverage, communications, and the like, the entity is obligated to accept the form that the patient provides over their own forms. Any form of manipulation and coerciveness and pressure to sign their forms in addition to the ones you already provided them is unlawful under the Privacy Rule and these are bad business practices on their part. Under any circumstance, do not succumb to their abuses and intimidating tactics to strongarm you into al their phishing schemes to find excuses to know things about you that is none of their business and as they try to look for excuses to withhold sending you a copy of your own medical records to you. WE must be steadfast and persistent in knowing our rights as patients as these entities will stop on no account taking away what little rights we have in the first place, even when they are in the wrong. Report them to the Office of Civil rights but be ready to stay in the saddle with them for the long haul.

Given the advanced stage of my Restless Legs Syndrome, I have been prescribed very strong drugs including Methadone. Without this medication, I cannot sleep and have to walk all night with pain in my arms and legs. This cascades into insomnia, which triggers migraines, which causes me to miss work, risking my high level job. As a highly controlled substance, I have to have the doctor call right around when I need a refill. Twice now, my doctor at this center has been impossible to reach and does not return calls in a timely manner. This week I had to call 5 times over 3 days to get my prescription taken care of. This is horrible patient service. When I asked why it took so long to get help, I was given a string of excuses about how busy he is. Then don't take on new patients if you can't do something as simple as fill a prescription or call your patient when she is having issues with her medication. I won't be going back to see Dr. Padilla and I advise you not to see him either if you need responsive care for your RLS. According to Yelp, the UCLA Westwood center gets poor reviews as well. I'm going back to my old doctor. The hour drive for appointments is worth it when refills are placed the same day and medication issues called into the doctor are returned the same evening.

What stands out most is how they treat you as a whole person, not just a patient. They take the time to get to know you, listen to your concerns, and provide thoughtful, compassionate care. Everyone there works hard to make you feel supported and valued. After more than a decade of care, I can honestly say they've been a 10/10 in every area. Dr. Uyeki does not take United Health Care Insurance anymore even though UHC's website for 2019…read moresays that he is in Network for 2019. The Dr. says that they have not been with UHC for years but UHC says otherwise. This doctor is very selective about the types of insurance he accepts, and the plans in each insurance company he accepts so before coming here I would first call the insurance company to confirm and then double confirm with Dr. Uyeki's office. This can change year by year so always check each Jan 1 as doctors dip in and out of insurance networks. This Office is closed on Thursdays. They speak fluent Japanese here and that clientele makes up a large part of their practice. This Dr. also does not do x-rays in office anymore but does do blood draws and then sends them out. He used to take blood and x-rays and develop them in office--no more. On my most recent annual exam in 2018 on a Friday, he called me the next day on a Saturday to say all the blood results are okay that he had results on before all were completed. By the following Monday the rest of the results were in but he did not call again to say those were okay--I suspect because there was no problem. But after looking after all the results I saw that one test was not ordered that usually is every year (PSA) so I called the office to report that and they got it tested that week. He did not call on that result, I guess because it was okay. The long and short is that with the way medicine is practiced in Los Angeles for years and the influence of Insurance Companies--you need to be very proactive and keep records to compare on your own. The blood draws here are professional and leave no mark. You have to pay for parking in this building. The staff is pleasant. If you don't have insurance, they do take cash--call and ask them for a quote. This office is part of Cedar Sinai and if they refer you it will most likely be to a Cedar doctor.

I totally trust him to manage my healthcare. If you live in the West LA area and are looking for a primary care physician, you can't do any better than Dr. Uyeki.
