Whenever I need help with medications, referrals, or getting in touch with my doctor, they act quickly and make the process as smooth as possible. What stands out most is how they treat you as a whole person, not just a patient. They take the time to get to know you, listen to your concerns, and provide thoughtful, compassionate care. Everyone there works hard to make you feel supported and valued. After more than a decade of care, I can honestly say they've been a 10/10 in every area. Not all, but some drs are exactly like this.it won't improve until enough of us complain: "To complain to the Medical Board of California, submit a detailed written complaint online via the BreEze System or mail a printed Consumer Complaint Form to the Central Complaint Unit, 2005 Evergreen Street, Suite 1200, Sacramento, CA 95815. Provide copies of your medical records and a signed release.The board investigates claims of substandard care, negligence, sexual misconduct, and unprofessional conduct. When I arrived, I was informed that the office does not use Zocdoc, even though appointments were still listed as available. Instead of being handled professionally, I was spoken to in what I perceived as a hostile, interrogative tone and sent home. I then had to schedule a second appointment through the receptionist before I could see the doctor. I sought care for recurring hand pain, hoping to receive a medical evaluation and, if appropriate, a referral to a specialist. Instead, the doctor told me to see a workers' compensation physician and declined to provide a referral. I explained that I am not a full-time employee, that my Medi-Cal coverage does not allow me to see a physician through my employer, and that I had no practical way to obtain the referral elsewhere. Despite explaining my circumstances, I felt the doctor was not willing to listen to my concerns. No alternative solution or referral was offered, and I left with the impression that my individual situation had not been fully considered. After making two trips to this clinic, I left feeling very disappointed. I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously and that I had invested significant time and effort seeking medical care without receiving meaningful assistance. My experience left me with the impression that patient-centered communication and genuine concern for patients were lacking during my visit. As someone who also works in healthcare, I believe every patient deserves empathy, respect, and a genuine effort to listen, understand their circumstances, and help them access appropriate medical care. Based on my personal experience, I would not return to this practice.

You never have a sense that he is prepared or fully present…read more We regularly bring in print outs of labs taken within the St Johns / Providence system he's part of and he asks if he can make a photo copy of our print outs. He and or his staff are slow to follow through and follow up. He has suggested actions without consideration for the person's entire health situation. As an internist, he's the 'conductor of the patient's healthcare orchestra' so to speak. Dr. Tyler is not aware enough of the patient when they walk in - it feels like he's trying to jog his memory as he's talking to you and that he sometimes forgets fairly significant aspects fo the patient's heatlh. For example, he recommended continuous oxygen use but didn't note what that means for CPAP use. This required that we call back with obvious follow up questions that you'd expect an internist/who "knows his patients" to proactively consider and instruct to to begin with. Given the limited office hours 9 to 3p a few days a week with 2 hours for lunch getting answers and call backs for information that should have been provided to begin with is frustrating.

Dr. Martyak is what I wish all of us in the profession could be-very current on knowledge, thoughtful, empathetic, and deeply caring. Dr. Martyak treats me for GI complications caused by other medications that I have to take despite their horrible side effects. She thinks outside the box and goes the extra mile to make sure I'm okay. I go years without needing her aside from the recommended GI maintenance, and then there are times during which I desperately need her help. She and her amazing front office are there every time. Dr. Martyak recognizes that this stuff is hard for most of us to talk about, including me. You can say anything and she will receive it with concern and a deep understanding of how important personal dignity is. I love that she keeps both short term comfort and symptom management as well as long term plans front and center. I cannot recommend her highly enough. My husband is also a patient of hers and would agree wholeheartedly. I take tremendous comfort in knowing that she is ready and willing to take on my rather complex GI issues with a true understanding of how hard this stuff can be on your quality of life.
