I recently moved to NJ from Manhattan, and maybe I am just used to a different caliber of medicine and patient care. I am also a nurse practitioner so I have high standards for patient treatment and respect. When I arrived at Dr. Kolanaky's office, I was asked to fill out paper work and show my drivers license (which is still NY) and insurance. The receptionist made a snarky comment saying "you shouldn't even be allowed to have this license if you have a NJ address." Again, I JUST moved here and because of Covid-19, DMV appointments are not easy to arrange. When I was put into an exam room, the nurse asked me why I was here to which I responded "a skin check" as I several moles on my body. When Dr. Kolansky entered the room, he asked me to stand up and began looking at my exposed back without any warning. It was the absolute shortest, non thorough skin examination I have ever endured. I had a mole on my abdomen which he questioned whether or not it has been there for a long time. I responded saying, "I think so but I'm not sure." He dismissed it, saying "well if it's been there, I'm not going to worry about it" ??? If there are any concerning findings, I would prefer if it were further examined and biopsied if needed. I had also requested to speak to him about my facial melasma which he quickly dismissed saying, "nothing I can do for that. Come back in the fall." The entire visit was about 7 minutes- maybe less. I have never felt so rushed by a doctor before and never had such an incomplete exam. I went for a skin check (I've had skin cancer in the past) and moved to this area so decided to try a new Dermatologist. It was the most rushed skin check ever. He did not check my scalp, my palms, between my fingers or toes, when he looked at my back (I was standing with underwear on) he looked for 2 seconds and said good. My hair hangs 1/2 way down my back and he never moved it to see the back of my neck, upper back or ears. He didn't look closely at anything! My previous Dr would use this device (like a magnify glass) to check each mole and measure and record its size (to track them) He didn't use that device and didn't write anything down. When I questioned this he said he doesn't do scalps and he sends people to a specific mole doctors if they want moles checked. Then what did he do??? Absolute nothing! So rude, unprofessional and clearly doesn't care about his patients. I'm so disappointed! read more

My visit was no more than 5 minutes, and for 3 of them he talked about himself. And it was the first time I had been there. I went there for a problem with my nails. He didn't ask questions and barely looked at me. While in the waiting room, I noticed a constant stream of patients coming out of the office, which definitely lowered my expectations and made me think he gave "express" visits. I went to another dermatologist in Wall where I felt I was properly examined in a professional and caring manner. read more

I visited the office 2 days ago, the staff was very professional but when the doctor come in the room he rushed me through making me feel like he couldn't spend more than 3 minutes with me, I wanted skin tags and blood pimples removed, under my plan up to 3 are covered with my insurance when he snips and burns the small cut to heal, he said that leaves scares but I have had many in the past removed like this with out a single scare or problem. Instead he recommended using his laser starting at $350 and $1 more for every zap. I don't recommend a doctor who rushes you when your paying him, I won't be going back!!!! read more

I will never see this doctor again. I came with my paperwork already filled out and still had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be seen. When the dr walked in he was extremely rude. He didn't make eye contact with me and only spoke with the nurse in the room. While doing a body scan he asked me how I got a bruise on my leg. I told him that my dog sat on me and he said "that's your excuse?". Then he examined me and told me to lift my girls. I was shocked when I realized he was talking about my breasts. He finished the exam and was about to walk out when I said I wanted a mole removed. He seemed annoyed. After the procedure he tried to leave again, but I said there were a couple of other things I wanted to discuss. He crossed his arms and said "Ask" in a very aggressive way. I told him my concerns, he said he would need to get bloodwork and then rushed me out. Without including the removal of my mole, I was seen in about 10 min. I would never recommend this dr to anyone. He was arrogant, had zero bedside manner and was down right rude. Save your time and go elsewhere. read more

Terrible staff. Called for a consultation and the second I told her I didn't have insurance she hung up on me. Paying a copay isn't a problem I just didn't expect someone in a professional field to be so rude. She literally brushed me off as if she didn't take me serious at all. Whoever is running the front desk should be fired. You completely lost a customer and I'm glad I seen beforehand because I will never step foot into an office like that. read more

Earlier this year, I went to Dr. Glenn Kolansky, as I was concerned about a mark on my face. He said the particular spot I asked about was 'nothing to worry about' but while examining the rest of my face, he noticed something 'suspicious.' He quickly did a biopsy and I went on my way. The office called a few days or week later and told me it did show up as skin cancer and please come in to discuss Mohs surgery with the doctor. Dr Kolansky performed Mohs surgery a couple weeks later. I appreciated getting treated so efficiently and quickly, as I was very nervous to have the basal cell carcinoma on my face, especially because it was close to my eye. I was worried it would pull at the skin under my eye. However, Dr Kolansky assured me he would get it all and stitch it up nicely, which he did. He IS a skilled surgeon. I found the staff could not have been more caring. The scar healed smooth and barely noticeable. Dr Kolansky said if it bothered me 'at all' he would treat the scar with a laser treatment. He also said sometimes it takes two treatments with the laser to make it unnoticeable. I opted to have the laser treatment on the scar, which definitely made the scar even less noticeable than before. Because the scar is on my face, I will opt to have a 2nd laser treatment after the summer, to make it completely disappear. Having had this experience with skin cancer, I wanted to have an all over body check for both my husband and myself. I asked if the doctor could see us together and the woman booking the appointment said that would be no problem. We went today and Dr Kolansky spent the time to examine our skin and put our minds at ease, as he didn't see any skin cancer this time around. He did suggest a treatment for one of us, which in some cases, can covered by our insurance. Dr Kolansky gave us the information, and said his staff can get the pre-approval necessary to make sure it's covered before he does the treatment. He spent some time speaking to us about it, while examining the area where he did the Mohs surgery on my face a few months back. He spent the time. We both thanked him again and would recommend him to anyone. Even though I would say Dr. Kolansky is very nice and personable, I am not one who is looking for a 'nice bedside manner' to soothe me....I want a knowledgeable doctor, a skilled surgeon, and someone who respects my time, Dr Glenn Kolansky is that person. If only I had read the reviews before I went... I went to see Dr. Kolansky to perform laser on a scar that was a result of MOH's surgery for skin cancer. I was recommend for V-Beam (pulse dye) laser by two other doctors (one plastic surgeon). I was told by Dr. Kolansky that my scar was a keloid and that V-Beam would not help it - and that V-Beam was only for vascular lesions (which this was not according to him). Later, at the end of the appointment, he contradicted himself and referred to my lesion as vascular so I was completely confused. I was shipped off with an apology that he couldn't help me, told to "just cover it up with makeup" and convinced to buy some of his expensive scar cream and some cortisone tape - both of which I read terrible reviews about when I got home. Upset at thinking all hope was gone in getting my scar on my nose to look better, I began doing research on keloids, only to discover that one of the most common suggestions to help the appearance of keloids was V-Beam. After traveling over and hour to see Dr. Kolansky, paying for the appointment and some useless medications, I made an appointment for another laster doctor in NYC who did the V-Beam laser on my nose and called it a "no brainer" and that this laser was the proper treatment for what I had. He also told me that this was in no way a keloid and not even the step down from a keloid. He referred to it as a simple scar. I'm happy to say that I am two weeks out after V-Beam and my nose looks amazing!! Save your time and your money! Do not go to this doctor! read more

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Kolansky at 10:15, and I didn't even get called in until almost 11:30. I filled out my new patient paperwork before hand and that didn't seem to help. I came with a list of some concerns and problems I've been having. He didn't seem concerned with any of my issues and ran out abruptly! I further explained some of my problems to the nurse he was with and she looked at me like I was crazy during my time in the room. I was very disappointed in Dr. Kolansky with both the fact that I waited over an hour past my appointment time, and how rude he was to me by disregarding my concerns. Dr. Kolansky does not deserve to be a participating Meridian Inner Circle Doctor! My son waited one hour past his appointment, only to be schulfed off, did not listen to his concerns about having eczema. Instead he loaded him up with 4 prescriptions , for what he believed to be allergies?! REALLY ???? We paid the Inner Circle Co pay of $40, plus copay for 4 perscriptions!!!! Today my son went to our original dermatologist, Dr. Shraga in our town, East Brunswick. One look at my son, and he confirmed ECZEMA!!! One perscription, Elidel, not 4!!! DR. If I could give Dr. Kolansky and his whole office 0 stars, I would. I had an appointment at 10am this morning and waited for him patiently in the room until 11:30am. I had prepared for my visit with a list of questions about a strange breakout I've been experiencing. These questions were very specific, as I have a few different skin conditions. Well, I agree with a previous review. After waiting for an hour and a half, he was rushed and obnoxious. He hardly even looked at me in the 4 minutes I had with him. I could tell he was annoyed when I pulled out the paper I had with my notes. Aren't doctors SUPPOSED to answer your questions? He rudely interrupted me countless times to throw out different prescription names to his nurse, which upset me because prescriptions should be specific to your needs and he just made a general conclusion based on a 2 second glance at me. I asked him multiple times if there were any lifestyle changes I could make, as other professionals have told me that I may be experiencing an allergic reaction. Nothing. He just told me to use the prescriptions, which he failed to discuss side effects for. After coming in to the office optimistic that I would finally have my issues addressed and waiting for an unacceptable amount of time, I left in tears. THEN, while dropping off my prescriptions at CVS, the pharmacist informed me that Dr. Kolansky had left out specific information on the medications (which she said that he does A LOT). She had to call the office! As I waited, I discussed my horrible experience with the lead pharmacist. I tried to ask him a couple questions that I couldn't get in with Kolansky. I'm taking two other antibiotics for another health issue at the moment. The pharmacist told me that the medication Kolansky prescribed would COUNTERACT those! Shouldn't he have asked me about other medications before he was so quick to prescribe these? My mother and I faxed over a letter to the office shortly after to communicate how upset I am. The icing on the cake. The nurse, Kelly, who was in the room with Kolansky and I, leaves me a nasty voicemail regarding the letter. She describes it as "abrupt" and has an extremely rude tone throughout the 2 minute 30 second message. She has the audacity to make up information, such as ensuring that I was asked if I was on other medications, which I can 100% say I was not. Regardless, I had listed that I was on other antibiotics in my paperwork, which I'm sure they were too busy to even look at. A professional voicemail would have simply asked for a call back to the office instead of talking down to me and making accusations that I am lying. Yet, I shouldn't be surprised, as this place has already proven unprofessional. All in all, I would have been totally fine with the wait if it was justified by an effective visit. I understand that there are more important issues that the doctor has to deal with on a daily basis, such as skin cancer, but I did not waste my time and money to be treated that way. I have been treated by Dr. Glen Kolansky for 13 years. He is an amazing and skilled Physician. I had a strange looking raised and dark bump on my face, right between my eyes. My general physician suggested that I see Dr. Kolansky. He told me that Dr. Kolansky was one of the few Drs in the State who performs Mohs surgery, and since it was on my face, that was highly recommended. Dr. Kolansky biopsied it the first time he met me. A few days later, I got a call that it was squamous cell cancer. I was so nervous when I went in for the Mohs surgery. I had about 8 tiny stiches on my face. Within two months the scar was totally unnoticeable. Since I had a skin cancer, and both of my parents had skin cancer, I knew I was in the right place. After my first skin cancer, I made sure to go to him for a full body exam 3-4 times a year. Two months ago, I had a spot on the side of my nose which, had been biopsied at least 4 times over the past 10 years. It was always pre cancerous. This time it had developed into Squamous. The office, ( which is always very pleasant and efficient ) was able to get me in within the week, as they had a cancellation). Again, I was very nervous, but I knew that I was in very good hands when I went in for my surgery. I had 13 stiches on the side of my nose and two Laser treatments. I am happy to report that it is now two months and the scar is nearly undetectable. Dr. Kolansky is really amazing. I am very fortunate to have such a skilled Dermatologist in my area! Thanks you Dr. K! PS. My Mom had a quarter sized spot on her cheek about 5 years ago, and that turned out to be cancer, and Dr. Kolansky also did such a great job on her. Her scar was about 11/2" long and again it became invisible after several months. read more

I went to Dr. Kolansky about five years ago and he found two hotspots one on my shoulder one on my back they had to be cut out sent out and stitched up. Due to my negligence I didn't go back to him for for five more years. After those two issues were found I finally got the nerve up to go back and get a full body scan the other day, since I am one not to use suntan lotion for many years. Between the waiting room and sitting 90% naked inside the room waiting for the doctor was one hour and 15 minutes. He burst into the room said hi I told him I was here to get full body scan he said OK stand up. OK he said turnaround you're going to live don't worry about it I said well there's two areas I'm concerned about he looked at them in three seconds and he said again you're going to live don't worry about it take care and walked out of the room. The whole visit he was in the room with me was a little over 90 seconds. Didn't ask me if I had any questions, didn't talk to me about my history of sun abuse etc. didn't talk to me about the two cancerous spots that he previously took out and about my concerns for the future of those hot spots . He is an embarrassment to the profession so unprofessional, he is a disgrace. I will never go back to him, I will never recommend him to anybody. read more

What a truly terrible experience. My husband went to Dr. Kolansky about 4 years ago for a cyst removal and everything went just fine. This month I returned for myself and I will never step foot back in his practice. The nurse seemed as though she was on medication as she was extremely foggy, forgetful, and overall not in the right presence. When Dr. Kolansky came into the room he was very brief. Essentially told me that each concern I had didn't have a solution but we could try many solutions that will likely not work. After that nightmare was over and the nurse sent my prescriptions to a pharmacy that they work directly with rather than my 2 pharmacies on file. When I called the office back to let them know I'd need the prescriptions resent to my pharmacy I was told they'd let the nurse or doctor know - it was brushed off as though it wasn't a serious matter for them. Not to mention I overheard some very unprofessional things being said about a certain category of individuals. Overall a very poor experience and I do not recommend anyone to visit this practice but rather for it to be closed down. read more

I am a cancer survivor of a bone marrow transplant for leukemia. When I was discharged from the Cancer center I was told I would be subject to secondary cancers. After about 3 years I developed a growth on my skin. My oncologist referred me to Dr. Kolansky. He has been treating me for over 7 years and has performed acid treatments for minor growths, Moh's surgery for others and has excised some others. My oncologist and myself are very happy with Dr. Kolansky's care. If anyone has a skin issue they want treated by someone who has experience with acne to skin cancer, Dr. Kolansky is the doctor to see. read more

i suffered through this practice for five visits and i just can't do it anymore. without fail my wait time would be well over 90 minutes, and then another 20-30 minutes in the procedure room waiting for him to see me. he offered very little on how to deal with my acne, aside from various creams and face washes that did nothing. i finally quit eating gluten, sugar and soy and my acne is finally under control (something his nurse told me would do "nothing"). it got a million times better after purchasing a microdermabrasion machine. do yourself a favor and skip this office. read more

I had MOHS surgery by Dr. Kolansky several years ago. When I went to him for a mole check he missed the growth I had on my face that had been getting larger and that was the reason I had come to him. He finished his very cursory inspection and pronounced I had no problem areas, and I asked him "what about this growth on my face?" He checked and asked me if I wanted it biopsied (isn't HE suppose to suggest that to ME?) and I told him yes. He took a biopsy and found it to be cancerous, and I made an appointment with him to get MOHS surgery. When he performed the surgery it was as though he was working on a slab of beef. When he did the numbing injection he was rough and it was painful (needles have never bothered me before). He ignored me as he worked on me, and he talked to his assistant in the room the entire time about personal matters. I have never been bothered by surgery but this was terrible. I had several stitches put in, again very roughly. As the numbing agent wore off I found myself in horrific pain. When I went back to have the stitches removed someone else in the office did so. She was at least nice, but incompetent. The procedure was painful, and I found out after I got home she left several stitches in. I took them out myself as I had no intention of every going back to that office. I now have to have MOHS again on another area, and my regular dermatologist (a "top doc" in NJ) gave me a list of recommended doctors who do MOHS that does NOT include Dr. Kolansky. I told him what had happened to me and while he was too professional to knock another doctor, the way he and his nurse exchanged looks made it all too clear that he has heard of the problems with Kolansky before. My advice? STAY AWAY! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Glenn Kolansky for at least 15 years now. Dr. Kolansky was highly recommended by my primary care physician to examine the bleeding growth/lesion on the tip of my nose right above my right nostril. After an examination and a biopsy by Dr. Kolansky the growth was determined to be basal cell skin cancer. This skin cancer was the result of cumulative sun exposure. The word cancer is not something anyone wants to hear but Dr. Kolansky assured me that this was indeed treatable. At a subsequent office visit the basal cell skin cancer was surgically removed and a skin graft was performed to replace the removed tissue. Dr. Kolansky called me that evening after the surgery to see how I was feeling. Followup office visits were required to ensure that the skin graft had taken hold was healthy and to remove the stitches. Regularly scheduled skin examinations by Dr. Kolansky have shown no recurrence of basal cell skin cancer. Dr. Kolansky's office is a pleasure to visit and the office staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I have never experienced excessively long waits for my appointments. I cannot tell you how much I respect the care and concern for my health I receive from Dr. Kolansky. I recommend him and his office most highly. read more
