And the small selection of Danishes, escargot, and other pastries are both excellent and generous in size. They have a fridge with milk and drinks and a small fresh sandwich stand where they fill fresh bread rolls to order. I haven't tried their sandwiches but I always indulge in one of their pastries, as they are as good as I've had anywhere in the world.

All the small cakes: eclairs, bignet, cannoli, babas, etc sell for $1.50 a piece.. The larger versions, $2.50 a piece.. All biscotti, including macarons, $30 kg.. The whole cakes - continental and ice-cream - start at $20 and go right up to whatever.. I spent $85 in 5 minutes - could have spent heaps... Such an amazing place, filled with Italian heritage Australians, all there to buy nostalgia - Christmas, Easter, Christenings, Weddings et al - divinely delicious stuff in a white box... WOW... there are some serious eateries here - I intend to explore them all, one by one... One of these eateries had to be ventured into today, even though I had my arms full of foot-long Turkish kebabs - BARRY ROAD BAKERY, Campbellfield... They had some beautiful looking doughnuts - plain, sugared, jam filled, chocolate filled, nutella filled, creamed... I could have bought a heap of stuff... everything looked wonderful... Breads, Rolls, Biscuits, Simit, Boregs, Boreks, Pide, Gozleme, Baklava, Rice Pudding et al Did buy: 2 x Large Cheese and Spinach Pide 4 x Long Baguette Rolls 4 x Simit [big bread rings studded with sesame seeds] Cost: $18 Just loved the look of the assorted savoury filled pastry diamonds in those massive baking trays...!!! Grabbin' a four star rating is the not so humble neighborhood bakery- Gusto…read more This is one schmick operation here in little ol' Strathmore. There ain't any pretty going on here though. Basic 101 neighborhood bakery decor. But all immaculate kept. Rather impressive. I felt almost as if I could have walked into the display cabinet and discovered the likes of Donna Hay stylin' away in here. The high level of quality control really shines through here. All the tasty baked goods looked near perfect, yet still a little rough. This just emphasised the hard work that the bakers here go to. No mass produced cookies or doughnuts here. We dropped by on a Sunday morning and by 10am they had run out of croissants. Testament to how popular this little spot is. As we where heading out road tripping a few snacks were needed. The top prize goes to the smiley face cookies that I snuck in. Delicate shortbread cookies, with a sweet icing top and jam filling. Bring on the flood of child hood memories. One star was lost for the snooty staff. So I may not look like a soccer mum but hey I deserve some respect for not breeding at such a young age. The staff were not helpful at all. No suggestions, no can I help you? Nothing past the initial walk in HI. In all honesty the cookies was so cookie-licous that I'll be back.

Some-one said the closest PO was at Gladstone Park.. Hadn't been there before.. Saw TABET'S BAKERY on the outer of the Shopping Centre.. Walked in.. The space is nothing to 'write home about'.. but the big industrial gas oven, is.. so too the Lebanese Pizzas and Pies.. Bought: 3 x Oregano Pizzas with Salad added - $3.50 each - Crusty oregano covered bread bases taken hot from the oven and filled with sliced pitted black olives, juicy ripe tomatoes, crisp green capsicum and sweet red onion, then rolled into large wraps - Got home, sliced and smothered them copiously with extra virgin olive oil - WOW...!! Something so simple.. So gorgeous..!! 3 x Cheese Pies - $3.50 - Same beautiful pizza bases folded into squares, enveloping melting halloumi cheese - Pretty Fab..!! 3 x Spinach and Cheese Pies - $3.50 - Pizza pies filled with halloumi, spinach, sauteed onions and a little lemon - Hot out of the oven - What can I say..
