I was visiting Riverside and I came across this local business. The citrus industry is Riverside's history, so I had to stop by and check out what produce they had. I was surprised to find they were set up more like a little market than just a fruit stand with many locally sourced goods. I was excited to find Old Town Bakery bread. They had cheese bread, sourdough, cinnamon, squaw bread, and jalapeño cheese bread. The price was comparable to a store and the bread was fresh. They also had several varieties of oranges, including a 5 pound bag of seedless cuties type oranges. They also had navel and Cara Cara oranges. The market has a sweet citrus scent when you enter. They also have a refrigerated section with juices, cheeses, spreads, salsas and other products. I also saw they had a large container of local bee pollen. They also sell snacks such as nuts and candy. I also saw they had Stonewall Kitchen products. They also have little cute citrus themed gifts by the register. They also sell fresh produce such as vegetables and strawberries. The strawberries looked delicious. Service was excellent and the check out it was fast. I will be back again to visit. read more

Best orange juice in my life. July 2015. It was a rainy day. Got the oj from the small refrigerator in the back. Not much to see. Selection is very limited. We Are here for the oranges. Bought a giant bag of orange and a bag off grapefruit. Price was very good. Grapefruit was amazing. Oranges were Not. They got better and sweeter a week later. MayBe we got a bad batch. The store/ fruit stand was very simple. Most of the good stuff was in the front patio. There are some dry fruits, nuts and candy inside. Nothing fancy, quite the opposite. But the orange juice, which we drank on the way home was absolutely delicious. I was Shocked. The best part (beside the taste) ... The Ingredient label: "Fresh Orange Juice". That's it. So simple. So good. And suddenly my mind start listing all the times I had bad orange juices in buffets, restaurant, store bought, etc. I wasn't even in the mood for oj. Go there for the oj. I've passed this little stand numerous times and wanted to go inside . I got my chance when I realized they carried products from local Riverside restaurants Olivia's and Ancho's. I was there in the afternoon and the selection was pretty picked through. I wanted Olivia's Spanish rice . There wasn't any left.Well kept shop , small feel . There were some original hometown items for sale as well as food . The pricing for the food was a little high for me. I came for milk too , but a 1/2 gallon almond was a little over $4.50.I didn't make any purchases this time . May stop in again in the future for one of their specialty days. read more

I've been coming here for years and I will probably never stop. Not only are the prices great, the fruit sweet, and the customer service great, but they just updated the building and added a whole little market full of goodies. Plus, they now have plenty of parking, and a cute backdrop for pictures. In the fall, they set up a mini pumkpin patch/picture area that's great for the kiddos if you don't want to make (and pay for!) the trip to one of the big patches around the area. Overall a great place to get local, giant, sweet oranges. I only wish they had a small trail or walkway where we could walk among the trees. Maybe one day. read more

I'm so disappointed! We moved from Riverside, Ca to Tucson, Az and our last stop was the Gless Ranch so we could buy a large bag of oranges as gifts to our new neighbors. We bought them yesterday and today I was going to make up a few baskets. We opened the bag to find several rotten oranges and the rest were green! What a rip off! I was always bragging about the great service and quality of items at Gless but I guess it's not that way any more. Don't let the orange bag fool you. Citrus never ripens once it's been picked. My sister took my family and I here once go get oranges and now we're hooked! The oranges here are perfectly sweet, great for a snack, and when juicing there is no need to add water or extra sugar--it's so tasty and refreshing too! Currently they are doing construction to rebuild their building so they have a little fruit stand on the side but they're still open! I haven't seen anything beat their 25lb bag of quality oranges for $10 yet! Workers are nice enough though it is harder to talk to them now that their cashier stand is high up and the fruit stand itself if rather small. When stock starts to run out however they have a forklift ready to bring over another container of fruit! I don't think I'll stop getting oranges here anytime soon read more

I was in search of grapefruit juice and went in and asked the manager every when do they make the grapefruit juices and she said it's upon "costumers request" so the next time I went in I asked one of the guys that only spoke Spanish if he can make us a grapefruit juice and he rudely said "NO" and left to talk to the manager so when I asked the same manager about the juice she switched and said "No we can not make them" and gave us attitude the we're definetly not friendly and profesional at all so therefor I would not be going to this place no more. read more

Terrible place! The air is not filled w the sweet smell of grapefruit! We went to get out of the city. Was looking forward to going for 3 months. We drove four hours. I was craving sweet grapefruits forever that were not from a store. I asked for a bag of pink grapefruits. When I was handed a bag I asked again if they were pink and the guy said yes. When I got home they were not only white, but very old and bitter. I never tasted a grapefruit that tasted so bad. Like an old lemon. My friend spit it out and threw away the bag. It hurt my stomach. It was so gross. Way over priced!!! Only thing that saved the trip was we were able to shop at a couple thrift stores that help animals. Foster Army and Mary S. Roberts. Bought a shabby chic mirror. Before, I would've definitely given them five stars, but their prices have increased since I last visited, and this last time, I was not impressed by their fruit. I purchased a 25-pound bag of oranges (because I'm excessive), and this huge thing of strawberries. The oranges weren't as sweet as they normally are, and the strawberries tasted and smelled terrible. Seriously, after sitting in the car with them in a bag for like five minutes, I was overwhelmed by the smell of farts. I'm not a fan of that smell coming from food I plan on putting into my body. Either way, though, they're decently-priced, and I'll chalk this up to being a one-off. I just hope their selection is better next time. read more

Bought an 8 lb. bag of oranges yesterday and was uncertain about what I was getting...the oranges were not "pretty" but for $2.50 a bag, I figured there was not a lot invested should they taste like they looked. Love Gless Ranch, especially their Cara Cara oranges, their so sweet & delicious, just not so easy to peel so we slice them for faster consumption. Also love their oranges, navel oranges, grapefruits, lemons, variety of nuts, dried fruits, dates, candies, and Orange Juice. But I'm unsure if their OJ is still made by them bcuz labeling is different then yrs ago, and the taste isn't quite the same as years back. But all their products have always been perfectly delicious. To top it off, the prices are so affordable & way less expensive than the no-taste overpriced fruits in local grocery stores. I've been around this ranch since 1989, we were one of the first track homes to be built in Orangecrest, I remember the family still having their huge ranch style home where the schools r located and our dogs at the time were lost in their orange groves surrounding the home, and the sons of the owners helped us looking for them and we successfully did find them, the family were so kind and down to earth. To this day, I must say the ranch store has always been #1 in Customer service. Love the new place, very clean, and still has some tasters. Cashiers very helpful and kind. It saddens me to see less n less orange groves each time I visit my parents. I use to love the smell of the orange blossoms during the spring, was so strong and sweet- a fond memory, this was long time ago when Van Buren Blvd only had 6 major stop lights from Gless Ranch to the 91fwy. Stop by the fruit stand at 4:30pm today, the young man said ORANGE IS SWEETER than others. I said they felt soft/wilted kind of worn out. He said DON'T WORRY, THEY HAD BEEN IN THE SUN, HOWEVER STILL SWEET & WILL LAST FOR 2 MORE WEEKS ON COUNTER WITHOUT REFRIGERATED. Based on his word I bought a 25 pounds bag. Don't believe them, the vendor. Cut up 6-10 oranges, they were bland & some even have dried flesh. Oou, found A big lemon among all oranges. 1. Awful fruits, certainly not taste like oranges at all. 2. Not juicy. A little strange bitter taste. No Orange taste. My family won't eat them. Now I got a giant bag of tasteless oranges. 3. They sold $13 for 25 Lb. bag, other vendors on same street sell $10 for same size bag. Consumers typically think we pay more for higher quality fruits. NOT AT ALL IN PAY MORE GET BETTER QUALITY. 4. Fresh Choice Market sells 4 Lb for $1.00 taste sweet & fresh. Don't be fool by Farm Stand off the street. They said due to pandemic won't allow to cut up an orange for try out. For those that don't know, it use to be like a large outdoor stand booth..don't really know how to describe it. While on a mission to look for some pop-up sprinkler parts, I drove by this place the other day, with the crowded parking lot and decided to see what other Yelpers had to say about this fruit stand. After reading the reviews, I was craving some fresh, sweet oranges. I advised the wife that we would be making a Saturday pit stop here to see what everyone was talking about. We arrived here around 4:40 PM. Posted information indicates that both this location and the other location near the Citrus park are open until 5 PM. We drove by the other location around 4:25 PM and it was already closed. Here, the young staff was already moving the sacks of oranges inside to prepare for their closing time as well. We grabbed a 25 lbs sack of oranges for $7.00. Their grapefruit was looking pretty good as well, so we grabbed an 8 lbs bag too for $2.25. I was little bit concerned that our sack of oranges as well as all of the other sacks offered for sale, had oranges in varying states of ripeness mixed together. I was concerned that the partially green oranges were going to be really sour, like the ones you sometimes get at a farmer's market or grocery store, when the really ripe ones are all taken. We got home and I couldn't wait any longer to try one of these oranges all my fellow Yelpers talked so glowingly about. Yup, they were right! The orange I tried was juicy and sweet! I was considerably surprised since it really isn't the season for oranges. I then decided to try another orange, this time one of the partially green ones. This one was just as juicy, and just a bit tart, but still very good and refreshing. The tartness was very slight, not like the mouth puckering, eye closing reaction one gets from eating an unripe orange from your local grocery store. We tried the grapefruit this morning. They were juicy and delicious and required no sugar on them! I cannot recall ever, of not having to add some amount of sugar on any grapefruit I have ever eaten! Moving forward, this will be our only source for buying oranges and grapefruits. We can't wait to see what else they will be offering throughout the year. read more
