The spa is in a convenient West End location that was easy enough for me to get to from SW. During all 3 of my visits, the staff were so warm and welcoming. The spa is clean & quiet, and the treatment room is very relaxing. I had a different aesthetician for each of my facials, and they all did a good job. They were able to answer any questions I had about the eminence products used, and customized my facial according to whether or not I was going out after or going home (ie. redness, shine, etc.). Elysian has an easy online booking system through their website, and I notice they have promotions on their Facebook page so you should check that out. Experience was good but not satisfactory. I've noticed that she did not take time in scrubbing my foot while my co-workers are getting their foot scrubbed and callus removed. You noticed that there was not even any flakes on the cloth she used for me because she did scrub them for a minute or less. I was observing how the other ladies are doing my friends' and they were all taking the time to scrub. I haven't had spa for years so there's no way that there's nothing to remove. I did not want to ask or complain as I did not want her to feel humiliated as everyone would hear for sure. It couldn't be possible that she forgot as she should be trained on how to do it and should take time to give an excellent spa experience. The place is very clean, modern, and comfortable except for the manicure section which is isolated and so tiny, it does not feel comfortable.

So anyways, I just said to her "Are you going to do my microdermabrasion?"..because I am absolutely not there to talk about my reviews..I was there for what I hoped would be a relaxing beauty treatment, and a Friday treat. Well I didn't get that!! She then says to me "Yes, you can have your treatment, but you need to pay $50"...ya that's right she demanded 50 bucks!! Or she wouldn't do my treatment!! I've already prepaid for a year of Microdermabrasion AND Green Peel..so the fact that she had the audacity to ask for more money is in my opinion is completely outrageous; and purely for the fact that she didn't like to hear the truth. The building itself is kept immaculately clean and the staff have always been uber friendly and professional. I originally purchased a Living Social (think Groupon) deal over a year ago for laser hair removal. I found out shortly after that I was pregnant and was unable to use the voucher. The laser technician, Jillian, offered for me to return after I had my baby and advised that they would extend the expiry date. Since having my baby 9 months ago, I have come for 2 session, with Jillian, who has been an absolute pleasure. I was definitely a little nervous, to say the least, that I may be treated differently because of my voucher but that has not been the case. They have free parking spaces in the back (so don't pay at a meter on 124th street) and a basket of sandals to slip on when you come through the door. You will walk through the Chiropractic area filled with modern items like stability balls and a trampoline. The decor is gorgeous and quite tranquil! The owner, Dr. Greg Stiles, is a chiropractor and I have run into him several times - and is he is as charming as he is handsome. I have overhead him working with patients and he has an amazingly calm and gentle demeanour. Even Jillian, the laser technician I see, has only had wonderful things to say about working for him. In fact, when I consider chiropractic treatments in the future I will start with Mr. Stiles! I also appreciate that they sell items that are health conscious - nail polishes free of dbp, formaldehyde and toluene. The also carry the Juice Plus line of greens and fruits that is supported by Dr. William Sears (www.askdrsears.com) - MY FAVORITE go to doctor and website for all things natural and parenting! They carry a few of his books here and I also was able to check out one of his DVDs to borrow for free! Upon arrival, I am always offered complimentary tea (and they have quite a selection) or chilled water. They have apples and snacks in their tranquil seating area that also boasts a fireplace. My old skin care routine is no longer effective so I sought out professional help and booked a skin consult here. Well they cancelled on me twice, then finally when I had my initial consultation the esthetician didn't ask me anything about my skin or my skin care routine or the products I was using, nothing. I explained to her what I had just been through and how it affected my skin and asked how I should care for my skin. Her response was: "if you are on cancer medication you can't have laser". "But overall, just looking at you, your skin is saggy and you looked tired". "My professional opinion is you should get filler". No Joke, that was her response. Really? Omg, I just had half a breast removed and went through radiation therapy, of course I'm tired! I felt like crying and stormed out. Who treats someone like that? I went in trying to feel better not worse and I left feeling just awful about myself. How unprofessional, tactless, cold, insensitive, inconsiderate, unfeeling, thoughtless, uncaring, callous and cold-hearted. I understand that part of an estheticians job is to upsell the client but really, have a little common sense and use some discretion. Just because you have a job to do should not mean that the client is unworthy of consideration or respect.

Nicole told me she would look into my file and would call me back the next day. Her reasoning made no logical sense She did not call in the time frame indicated above so I tried to follow up multiple times. I had to call at least 15 times as she proceeded to ignore and avoid my calls for weeks.  Nicole was unethical and unprofessional. She has no appreciation for customer loyalty, takes no accountability and handled this matter poorly.  Skin and body has changed their management a few times and I can see this trend continuing in the future with this type of ownership.  To anyone reading this, please be cautious before prepaying for any services with this company. Chances are your money will not be recouped if management changes once again.
