I was introduced to stylist Denise Heller two years ago by a mutual friend. I was visiting Ojai from San Francisco and was desperate for a cut and color. I absolutely loved what she did then so, when I returned over this Fourth of July week Denise was able to book me for a cut, color and brow shaping. She usually books up 2 to 3 weeks in advance but because of the holiday, and the shift in scheduling, she was able to fit me in. So grateful! Denise is gifted and can look at a person and tell them exactly what's needed to make them look their best. I decided to trust her because my hair had grown really long and she knew I wanted to keep the length. She did some beautiful framing around the face and used product that gave my hair a really high shine. I couldn't be happier. She also taught me how to blow dry properly and how to use teasing and a roller to give my hair some volume because it's very thin. She also had time to shape my brows properly. Not only that she's a great person to have "girl talk" with! I highly recommend her and the staff at Glo West. You Ojai locals are so lucky to have her. Update 7/6/2018: A reviewer below insinuated that I was solicited to write a positive review. This is not true. Businesses ask clients to "yelp" them all the time. My experience at Glo West was positive in 2016 and again on my return visit this past week. I took the time to write the review because I was very happy with how my hair and brows turned out. It can be hard to find a stylist that you really click with in a small town, but Glo West has stylists of a different caliber. I have been getting my hair done by Marina for over a year now, and she is by far the best hair colorist I have ever worked with. She asks you questions to really understand what you want and brings a wealth of knowledge from classes that she takes throughout the year. While she is already very skilled, you can tell that she is honing her techniques even further. As a blonde, I have had some bad highlights, but I have NEVER been disappointed going to Marina. I 100% recommend if you want to go to a hair stylist you can trust and someone who has a high level of skill in coloring hair. I don't get my hair cut often, but when I do I always walk out feeling satisfied with the results. I have gotten some of the best hair cuts with her as well. Glo West is also a charming hair salon/store, so it is worth a visit. The staff that works there is so friendly and there is a great selection of gifts, natural makeup, and candles. Love this place! Just back from a trip with my sister to Ojai. I walked into Glo West thinking I might try a new stylist for a fresh cut while in town. Lucky us, (my sister decided on getting a cut as well), we met Denise. She was so kind to fit us both in the following evening, staying late to give us the royal treatment. I asked her to evaluate a better shape cut for my face and I absolutely love what she created. I have been to many very high end salons in Orange County and she does a better job with cut, color and highlights. She is also a very sweet, fun and kind person to be around. She is a color expert - my hair was colored way too dark and over time she was able to get me almost back to the color my hair was as a kid. She is also a pro with cutting and styling curly hair. Denise Heller who does extensions ,was not with a client, and said she was busy! The owner Natasha did not encourage Denise to help me out! I went to Glo West to have Denise Heller do my hair color and cut. To begin, when I first walked in, I was greeted with a smile. Rene, the person behind the front desk made me feel welcome! Denise also greeted me with a smile and listened patiently to me communicate how I wanted my hair cut and colored. I brought a few pics on my phone which she said was appreciated. I used to live in Ojai but now I live in LA, but I go all the way to do my hair even takes me at least 2 hours from where I live to where my hair dresser Korina works but its all worths it. I am originally from Japan and I never liked going to any of the hair salons because the service is not the same compared to Japanese. So I used to do my hair only one a year every time I was going back to Japan. But, things changed, When I met Korina almost like 10 years ago and cut my hair the first time. I loved her right away because she does exactly what I ask for and exceeds my expectations all the time and most of all she is fast and precise. I just trust her.
