I should of written this review long ago. I've been a Global Discovery Member for a total of 9 years. For the first 3 years, I never had the opportunity to use it because my career was very demanding. Even with the best intentions it wasn't until my 4th year being a member that I actually was able to take advantage of the membership. That's what my fiancé and I found so attractive about it; if we couldn't use it one year we didn't have to pay for it. That's a huge plus and the main reason we never bought into timeshare. We liked the condo resorts type stays just didn't like the maintenance fee attached to it. Anyways our first vacation with Global was Mayan Palace Christmas of 2015 we got a 2 bedroom Christmas week. There were 4 of us and looking back at it now, it was my most memorable time with my family. Resort was beautiful, service was exceptional right on the beach. If you ever have the chance I highly recommend Cancun. I'm sharing this because unbeknown to us that was the last vacation my sister would ever share with my fiancé and I. She passed the following year from Breast Cancer. So I will always hold those memories close and Thank you Global for making it possible. I try to make it out to Cancun every year around the same time in her memory and having global makes it much easier. read more

We purchased the membership for $10,000 and financed $9000 of this at their cut throat rates. A month later I developed heart issues and am having to quit working. I notified them and the answer given was the date has come and gone for cancelling. No concern for my health whatsoever. They are greedy and if you have hard times they don't want to hear about it. Stay far away from this one. I haven't given up yet and will give the company credit if they have a change of heart. read more

This is the biggest scam. Once you sign up you cannot get in contact with anyone for support. The inventory of the access they have is very limited. I would take the gift card and the mini vacation they offer and run. It seems very high pressure sales. If you compare discounts on any travel app to there's you are not saving anything. All of there sites are located away from everything and not up to date. For example we looked up available places for September of this year and there was only about 10 around the US. I would not recommend not getting caught up in this scam. read more

My experiences with Global Discovery so far have been fantastic. We recently went to Las Vegas for our vacation and stayed in a condo with Global at the Jockey Resort, right on the strip. The property was clean and comfortable, the location was perfect. We were literally right next to the Cosmopolitan Resort. We brought friends, had a blast and plan on going again soon. We have 16 star credits and have been members for about 9 years. We've recently upgraded to access hotel discounts. We use the hotel feature at least twice a month and absolutely love it. The discounts we find allow us to book 5-star hotels on most trips! I used to shop around and compare prices before booking, but there came a point when I realized I will always find an amazing deal without all the extra hidden fees that sites like Priceline and Expedia throw in at the checkout page. We use the condos for big family trips. We've used the condos in Maui, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Huntington Beach, Naples, Clearwater Beach.. all very comfortable, clean, cozy - absolutely no problems. Some are new and shiny, while others may be a bit dated. But if we are trying to book something super specific, we'll just use the hotel feature. If you know how to use the membership and where to go, you will LOVE your membership, brag to your friends and likely use it way more than you anticipated. Don't be afraid to call the Global corporate phone number if you need help booking something. They will help you plan your trips and teach you how to use the membership. Both myself and my wife became a member in September of 2004. Over the course of the last 18 years we have taken numerous trips. My wife says that this is the best investment we have ever made. It has saved us thousands of dollars over the years. We use all of our stars each year. Truly don't understand how somebody could give this less than a five-star rating. Either they don't know how to use their membership or they are simply ignorant. A few years back the entire family stayed at a four-star resort in Princeville Kauai, HI. It was a two bedroom condo for two weeks. When I looked it up online, the price was $5,780 for the two weeks, for the same exact place. I paid under $800. Been members since 2011 -2012 . Most of the Condos are old but for the price they're ok . We stayed in Kauai twice , New Orleans , Scottsdale etc all like I said older but at least clean .. This year we tried staying at the Maui Sands .. Wall AC unit sounded like a broken down 1960's unit ,, oh wait it was! Standing plastic fan in the bedroom .. Carpets, couch, dirty, again probably been used for 20 years . Fridge had a note on it said don't put too much stuff in here cuz it takes a while to cool down.. hmmm ! Seriously ? , you mean I have to go down to the ice store and grab some ice on my horse ? We spent the evening we arrived calling Air b&b's to find a place.. Called the Globals office number and of course Friday after 5 nobody's home. .When they did call us back the following week I was told us to call this other person , we did, " after we were back"all she wanted to do was argue and put the blame on us.. Put a review on BBB they had someone from their office or friends or family member contradict my review and put up a glowing faux review of the Maui Sands .. It was pretty obvious.. I guarantee the owner of Global or any of their employees would not stay in that rat hole they expected us to stay in.. Global takes your money then treats you like the enemy instead of a member of something . No trying to settle just threw us a bone , $100 refund when we spent 3 star credits some extra amount cuz its out of the continental US , which wasn't there in prior years .. Obviously I wouldn't join this if I had to do it all over again.. but were stuck . This is a scam! They run a bait and switch operation. My boyfriend and I bought 2 stars last week. they said book a vacation. you'll be excited. we booked a 5 star all inclusive at punta cana. (pre murders) a week later they emailed my boyfriend and said the hotel it over book and that they had put us in another hotel ( a crappy hotel not on the beach). Global was a gift for the family from my mother. Since she joined in 2016 all members of family have utilized the subscription. My mother has explored everywhere from the Ozark Mountains to Colonial Virginia, I've had pasta in Italy and paella in Spain but grandma keeps going back for solo trips to the sands of Oahu. Bigger than the ability Global has to make the world smaller is how much closer it's brought my family. In Waikiki, four generations made memories as my grandma, mother and I watched my sister and her son play in the waves. Travel has a wonderful way of filling in any "generational gaps". We have been members for 11 years. The first condo we booked with them was fantastic. For the first 3 years we were quite happy. Then inventory started dwindling. They convinced us to upgrade our membership to the new platform showing and promising a much greater inventory. This lasted about 2 years. Now the inventory is once again not good at all. Through the years we have also noticed that the quality and cleanliness of the units we reserved is going downhill. We turn in surveys spotlighting the problems and never hear from them again. When we started complaining about the inventory we were told we needed to start booking further out. You can only book out 13 months. It used to be as long as you booked out 6 months you could find inventory. We started looking a year out for a condo in northern Michigan and nothing was there. They tell you to call because the online listing is not all inclusive as far as inventory available. We called and they still had nothing. They tell you that you don't have to pay a maintenance fee in a year you don't use the services. In 2020 they told us we could pay the annual fee in either a lump sum or monthly amount. We chose monthly. Now I find they are continuing to take out monthly fees for 2021 even though we are not using the club because of Covid and lack of inventory. When I called they said we had to stop payment if we didn't want to go beyond the year. I never saw any such notice. The gal on the phone said she could cancel payment going forward but couldn't refund what we had paid. I called and spoke to her manager Eric Stout and he gave me the same story. I told him they should at least have the decency to tell us that the year was up and they were going to continue to bill. He claimed they sent an email telling me that. When I said they didn't he told me it must have gone in my spam even though all their solicitation email comes straight to me. I looked in my spam and nothing was there. I explained to him all the thousands of dollars we have paid them over the years and the people we have referred to them so he should have the courtesy of giving me a refund. He refused to refund me even though I told him all the bad publicity I would give him. Apparently once they have your money all customer service goes out the window. I will not recommend them any longer. Stay clear of them! Use Airbnb or something else. read more

They are finally giving back some stars for travel less than one month away, BUT not refunding or crediting any money that you have paid. Reputable, ethical travel companies are refunding and/or rescheduling to a safer time with no trouble at all. Like Overseas Adventure Travel, they would refund, reschedule and also give Major discounts to anyone who reschedules even in 2022. OATS is awesome!! Global is horrible. This Covid year has taken its toll on customer service. We were assured we would be able to use our membership this year. Our sales people told us how good Global Discovery is to work with. That is not what we found. We were unable to travel in this year of the pandemic; we asked for ONE week extension so we could get our travel in for the membership fee we had already paid. We asked and were told no. We asked the next level up and were told no. We asked the next level up and were told, "You could have travelled." Do not; do NOT; DO NOT pay your membership fee until you have determined you will actually be able to use the fee for the year. I visited Maui after saving for three years. I was a single mother and raised four kids by myself. Vacations like this were not possible. While here on what I thought was a once in a lifetime trip, I attended a presentation for Global Destination Vacations. I was skeptic. As I listened to the presentation I started to get excited. Still cautious, I decided to look up reviews.. I'll be honest, some were not good. But as I dived deeper, I could see most were not even really from this company. And, some out of the companies control, COVID. I started to read more and I quickly saw that they handled each with such care. I was blown away! Been a member for almost 10 years, in order for this to work congress, the pope, and the president need to agree on the same thing at the same time while being in the same place. annual membership fee has almost doubled. You need to plan a trip out almost a year in advance and they still won't have what you need available. In ten years used this twice, twice, if and when you get it to work it ends up costing you more than if you just googled the place to stay. Every few years they call about an upgrade, which costs thousands more. They said fees won't go up they do, Offered me a a free vacation with airfare still waiting for it. They have been sued by multiple municipalities. They now offer the same search engine has Travelocity and expedia but expect you to pay a $410 annual fee for the service. read more

Overlooked their April 9 warning that reservations are non-cancellable and non-refundable due to Covid related restrictions or dangers. Lost $404. The airlines and a tour company all allowed rescheduling due to Covid. No one tried to keep our money and do nothing to earn it. No one expected us to endanger our lives by going into one of the nation's hotspots for Covid. We are 68 with underlying health issues and would not survive Covid. We've been members for 20 years. The representative repeatedly talked over me saying "You were warned and you accepted the terms." My bad. It's still immoral. Stay away from a company that prizes money over continued participation by it's members. We bought this plan before the internet started. It was a terrible mistake. It has never been competitive with internet offerings. Historically, this company has had inadequate selections through our travel plan. I wanted to take a trip to Europe and I didn't know where to begin. I started by browsing all the mainstream options to get a feel for costs. Nothing made me pull the trigger. A friend referred me to Global Discovery Vacations. They showed me some of the same hotels I was searching for, and surprisingly, Global Discovery Vacation had the same properties for a much lower and more reasonable rate. I ended saving hundreds on the weekly stays at the Skyloft Hotel in Kiev Ukraine, which I stayed for probably 2 months. It was such an amazing experience I have gone back to the same hotel 6 or 7 times now for weeks for about 1.5 years. I mean - of course, it's their job ... but when you get right into it, the fees are high, just about everything you want is considered peak season (another added fee), most condos are outdated and do not have good amenities, and you use up stars SO FAST to try and knock the fees down a little. I have been a member for 4 years. I thought it was great the first 3 but 2020 has been a big disappointment. They called us to offer a new VIP membership which basically forced us to spend $7500 to use the membership we already paid for but took away all the inventory unless we upgraded. We needed accommodations in FL and couldn't book anything until the summer with our current membership (not useful). We were promised a one week condo certificate for doing the presentation and 2.5 months later they still haven't sent it and I've asked about it 20 times. I'm so sad that the customer support seems almost non-existent now and it used to be satisfactory. The staff lies and says "I'll send the certificate overnight today with tracking." and when I call 3 days later it still wasn't sent. I'm tired of the lies. The only good thing about GDV is that the annual fee is optional. I also do not like the "no refunds, no cancellation" policy which is unnecessarily strict. Have owned this for few years. Was OK for first few years, now I agree website is a scam. Looking today at options, nothing available in FL panhandle until August 2020, even though I have 10 stars. Website is constantly changing while I am looking, plenty of availability in earlier months, then poof, all of that disappeared. Call to customer service no help either. Constant calls while on vacation, as well as before and after my last trip, wanted to meet with me while I was on vacation, NOT. Now my options are even more limited. We have been customers of Global Discovery Vacations for over 10 years and have used this service a handful of times. We are currently booked for a vacation in Sedona Arizona and Lake Tahoe Nevada at the end of August. We booked this trip on April 7th when Covid19 was new and not in the Midwest. Predictions at the time were it was going to go away and return in the Fall. I spoke numerous times over the past few months as this virus is fluid and changes daily. These are very unprecedented times.I was told to call back as the vacation gets closer. NOW this virus is now RAGING in Arizona and Nevada we are told we will lose our money and stars if we cancel. I explained that my husband is a physician, I am a nurse, my son is a Paramedic, my daughter a Health Counselor and the we are needed on the Front lines right now. GDV is REFUSING TO ALLOW us to postpone our vacation or refund any of our money. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. We Will be reporting them to the BBB and the Attorney General. We will blast this all over Social Media to get the word out to not buy into this company. Kelly the manager claims It said at the time of the booking due to Covid19 there would be no refunds. I spoke to a guy Mike prior to booking I inquired about getting the insurance and he told me " I don't think you will need it" he told me they were making exceptions due to Covid19. When I called another time to cancel the woman told me we couldn't cancel because we didn't have the insurance I asked if could purchase the insurance now ..she said " We could try but I doubt it will make a difference ". This is OUTRAGEOUS. To fly across country to sit in a condo for 2 weeks in not acceptable !!! Spoke to the resort the gym is closed the game room is1 family at a time. Many parks and monuments closed. No transportation to the Grand Canyon. Restaurants 50% capacity stores are hit and miss. read more

WARNING!!!! Global Connections uses a "Time Out Vacation" to lure people in. Once you go to use the certificate, there is a $200 deposit you have to make with Global Connections. Please note, the $200 is paid before they even make a reservation for you. The next step is there is a charge for an upgrade as that is all they seem to have available. For me it was $275.00. So you end up paying $475.00 at the time you book your vacation. Once you get to the resort, there is a $24.95 per night "resort" fee plus tax and another $250 deposit. I was a little frustrated withwhat I thought was a "free week" beginning to cost more and more... Out of pocket it was going to cost me $475 for the week with $450 in deposits I hoped I wouldn't have any issue getting back. But the real surprise came during the Covid 19 pandemic. Las Vegas was shut done, California issued a "shelter in place" order, and my wife working in the medical field was required if she left the state to be quarantined 14 days after coming back before she could return to work... however, the resort decided to stay open and we considered going. I contacted the resort weeks before our arrival date and learned the resort had all their amenities closed save for wifi. The pool, hot tub, gaming room, business center, fitness room... everything was closed. But they insisted I still would have to pay the resort fee which would have been close to another $200. I made it clear that I was not interested in paying $200 for a week of wifi and the resort offered another option which was to reschedule but I had to go through Global Connections. And you can imagine - Global Connections refused any rescheduling and said that I would not be refunded the $275. The only option Global offered was to pay another $750 for a trial membership which was for 2 stars. And then every time I used a star it would cost me $229 + $350. I guess it costs $229 to use a star and because Las Vegas never has a non-peak season, $350.00 for using the star at a non-peak time. LOL My advice is to avoid GLOBAL CONNECTIONS!!!!! There is a reason people are always trying to get out of time shares - even when it is supposed to be a free "TIME OUT VACATION"! read more

I was given false information about all-inclusive resorts, and booked based on that information for my brother. Turns out, not all-inclusive... crazy expensive in fact! GDV keeps failing to return my calls. I've tried contacting managers, emailing through their main website, calling the woman who first helped me sign up... no follow through. Do your research and you will see that GCI provides not just great travel and pricing, but reliable agency servicing and property management. We stayed at White Oak Resort from June 19 - 26, 2020. Karen and I met with Sean on June 25, 2020 and purchased a SPX4 plan with Global Discovery Vacations. He is a representative of Smoky Mountain Distributors & Global Discovery Vacations. On June 30, 2020 I contacted him about setting up two trips for Karen and I. At that time he asked me to email him the dates and details for those trips. On June 30,2020 (6:31 PM) I sent him an email containing the information he requested. At 7:41 PM I received an email from him stating that he would try to have the trips completed by the next day at noon. Having not heard from him again I contacted the receptionist at his office on July 6, 2020. She told me he was with a client. She took my contact information and told me he would call me back in the afternoon. On July seventh, having not heard from him the previous day, I sent you an email asking that he contact me ASAP. On July 9, 2020 I called his office and asked to speak with his boss. I was transferred and the call went to voice mail. I left a message asking for a call back. I still have not received one. I have contacted Global Discovery Vacations by phone on July 9 and !0. The agents told me they did not know how to use the SPX4 package and transferred my call to Miranda. I have left 3 messages on her voice mail and have not received a call back. By not contacting me they are depriving me of the use of my membership. read more
