I have documentation that money has been transferred to me over a week ago and the bank is still not releasing any of the funds to my account. They were completely unhelpful and rude like I was bothering them by calling and asking for clarification on why they will not deposit the transfers. read more

I had Alaska USA for years and was used to their much less silly website. It actually looked like their bank statement. I had a phone issue yesterday and lost a lot of info. When I had to re-establish my account I could only find some silly website structure where my account looks totally different. I cant find the old login. read more

To state that the baseline when calling "customer service" is incompetence would truly be generous. At times it also is vengeful when a customer cannnot put up with it anymore. Tonight, over the course of over a half-hour, I was transfered to four people, two of whom were the wrong parties, and the last one who wanted to transfer me yet again to the purported "right office," the fifth person I would have spoken to. I had the fiasco of them messing up my loan payments and sending it to a debt collector without telling me - I'd been making payments towards a car loan and then one day I found out they had record of me calling to make those payments but they had no record of the payments ever going through. They said either someone didn't do it right or there was a glitch. But because they hadn't been getting payments they sent it to a debt collector and never informed me. Seriously what kind of idiots are running this place where they can admit they messed up and they still punish the customers? Anyway. I paid that loan off in 2024 and I've had ZERO interest in using Global again. I decided to give them another shot like an idiot. When I called about getting access to my account again they informed me I still owed them money on that same loan. It's been 1.5 years and they're just now telling me this? I questioned this an they confirmed I did pay my loan off with the debt collectors and that's closed but they're saying the amount I paid off to the debt collectors wasn't the full amount and I still owe $260. HOW DO I STILL OWE $260 WHEN I PAID IT OFF?! This bank has become such trash since it became Global. Dirty business practices and holding peoples bank accounts hostage for money the person doesn't even owe. I hope they know it's actually illegal to force someone to pay more money towards a debt once it's been paid off through a debt collector. read more

Absolutely terrible fraud service. Debit card fraud has wore me out. In the past 18 months, three times I had to get a new card. I found new fraud today for over $1000. The scammer had four transactions in one day, out east, and from a fraud laden platform. They allowed two to go through, then declined two more that same day...All the same scammer, all the same scam company. They didn't cancel my card, or call me or anything but deny two of the four purchases. I'm done with them. I'm working on getting new cards from elsewhere. I was a huge fan of debit cards but no more. Global ruined me. I'm considering going back to credit cards as much as I loath their business model and practice. if I did't travel so much, I not use cc's either. read more

The line was at least 15 people deep and no one working there appeared to care. I've been a customer at this branch for 11 years. I've always gotten outstanding customer service here. When I needed a loan, a notary, or just a new card, I've always had friendly reliable service. Once when I overdrafts, I got a personal call asking if I could come deposit to avoid a fee. Not many banking institutions provide this kind of service. I also really appreicate the many layers of security they require so people cant gain access to your account I feel secure with Alaska USA. Banking is stressful enough already, but the transition from Alaska USA to Global has been about as smooth as the AlCan Highway. I've had roughly 7 major retailers reject my transactions in the past month alone over "out of town" sales. Yes, this is the year 2023 and (gasp!) many businesses are based out of the Lower 48. I became a member of AlaskaUSA in 1991, when I first moved to Alaska. I stayed when the named changed to Global - for no apparent reason, and completely contrary to Alaskan's independent spirit. At first it was ok; then, despite their claim of "no overdraft fees," they started charging $30 fees if my balance ever drops below 0 - even if my paycheck will be automatically deposited within 24 hours. Now they're denying me a car loan - for any amount - despite my excellent payment record. I'm not buying a new car - my old car died and is not repairable. No grace periods, no grace, no small-town personal assistance or consideration like there used to be - just a cold online application and denial. Thanks for nothing. read more

BEWARE: YOUR MONEY IS NOT SAFE AT GLOBAL CU Global legacy employees overdrew my wife and i's account with no notice after they found an error that they had made on a completely unrelated account where my wife was a beneficiary after the passing of my father in law. We were out of state dealing with his house and estate when Global helped themselves to our money. When asked for explanation and written evidence to support their claim the staff at global has threatened to ruin our credit and send us to collections. Not disputing the fact that they may have made a mistake, we just need written evidence to support it so we can settle this up. I been a member with global credit union bank for long while still am a member with an account. there has been a transaction made from my savings account that was accidentally done by my niece who's 3 years old shes born with a hyper disorder which makes her all hype active she was on my phone pressing any random buttons on my touch screen phone and has created a transaction to be done which wasn't meant to be done. I have to wait until 9am Alaska time to get this fixed I talked with a representative and they explained to me that I'll have wait for a department with global credit union to open which opens at 9am Alaska time and I am indeed of getting this process done ASAP/right now before transaction is down and sent out which I would not like happening how can I get quick help before this transaction happens on my saving account. read more

Here's why; Arrived at Global, presented my STATE ISSUED DRIVER'S LICENSE, handed them $3,000.00 in US currency, and said: "I'd like to pay my rent", gave them the acct number, as well as the owner's full name, and they REFUSED TO TAKE THE MONEY.........unless I provided them with MY SSN! 25 years ago I opened my Alaska USA account. Used to be a friendly, welcoming organization. Now they have become Global FCU and have spiraled into something more similar to Wells Fargo. I'll be closing all of my account​s. read more

They drove us online and away from tellers, but now the website is lacking and the customer service line wait times are at least 10 minutes. They also don't return "general inquiry" emails regardless of the type of inquiry. You need to know who you need your talk to beforehand to get any specific service. read more

I banked with the CU for nearly 15 years and they are worse than all of the big banks combined. They have terrible customer / member services (unless you go to a branch - the branch staff are usually great). The phone and online services are just terrible. Limited technology, limited financial services, mobile app UX is subpar and honestly I have never been treated so poorly by a bank when I call in for standard questions and assistance. They lost my business recently and they don't care at all. I would definitely not recommend and if you are looking for a credit union look elsewhere. Global's customer service has severely gone downhill this year. Just got off the phone with a customer service representative who said I couldn't verify the questions. Except the questions asked were "what's the last check you wrote" (I said I don't own a checkbook so I don't write checks) and "who's the joint user of the account" (I said I'm the the sole user, which I am) and "verify the email on account" (gave them the one I used to apply for my loan and asked me to changed to when I applied) Yet seemingly none of those answers weren't correct. I genuinely regret getting my vehicle loan through them. They have been horrible to deal with through this entire process and still haven't sent my loan paperwork despite having my loan for over a month. Edit to add: the branch apparently gave me the incorrect email address to send my loan documents to, never sent me my loan agreement which has all the emails I needed, and charged me a duplicate document fee for a document I never received in the first place. read more

The absolute worst. AlaskaUSA was my first and only since the early 90's. Loved AKUSA and was bummed when o found out Global was taking over. AlaskaUSA always had my back and did their best for me, Global however doesn't do anything beyond just hold my money. Had an issue and both times got the response that it was the computer and nothing they can do. Really? So much headaches with Global even so that if I explain a payment not getting covered, they say they get that a lot with Global. I've since relied on my new favorite credit union, CU1! Top notch and the service I expected from Global. Even nicer facilities! They offer me the protection Global can't because of "computer issues." All my important withdrawals are through CU1 now. Even linked my new business through them. Nothing but greatness. Read the reviews on FB,yelp, BBB and everywhere and you will see Global is just plain terrible. Too bad I cannot give this a zero star. Just found out Global (formerly Alaska USA Federal Credit Union), just laid off 25% of their staff, due to "economic forecasting". What kind of crap move is this?? When you as a company promote moving up from within, then you let the "newest" people in their new position go, you have just lost my business. This is a bad business idea, and I can guarantee no one from Global /Legacy lost their jobs..just all previous Alaska USA tenured people. When the merger between Alaska USA and Global happened, many members, like myself, thought Alaska USA would retain their name. Nope. Global is the new name. Now I feel like the identity of the credit union I have used since the 90's is gone. I will be taking steps to move my money elsewhere. I can't log into my account without having to get a code first, and with multiple accounts, it's a real pain. I cannot reiterate enough how dissappointed I am, and feel so sad for my friends and family who have lost their job because management can't do their job. Maybe upper management should lose theur jobs and Global/Legacy employees should lose their jobs too. You lost so many great people, and your company culture has turned toxic. Worst company to deal with!! Got the loan just fine but could not do anything online with the account. Was told several times I needed to get one of their credit cards first. WTF?!?!? We paid off the loan early but didn't receive the 1098 form. Multiple calls and promises to get me a copy failed to produce results. Being very polite, I have asked to have my form emailed or USPS mailed got me nowhere. They hung up or "dropped" my call three times today. If I could make a strong recommendation, I would try using another company for your loan. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! read more

Worst bank ever!! Their direct deposit is a joke! They say it goes in at midnight but it doesn't. My husbands payroll was set to go it today and they said there was a delay causing issues with all my bill pay accounts! This bank is more than a hassle than it's worth. Global CUs service has been in decline for a while. Tell me I will hear back about a loan application within 24 hours. It took 2 weeks. This happened on multiple occasions. Lately I bought a car and the loan offer from Global was downright insulting - while other CUs I had never done business with before were happy to loan me the full amount at a reasonable interest, Global only wanted to give me 2/3 of what I needed at an absolutely insane interest rate - over 14%, which was more than double with other CUs offered me. I've been with Global for over 15 years; to be treated so much better by CUs I've never talked to before really showed me how bad Global is. At the end of 2022 they changed their service structure a bit. I called support to ask if I would experience any fees, and they seemed to not know. It took several times of them putting me on hold to talk to a supervisor to finally get an answer, but that answer contradicted the information that was emailed out to members, so it was hard to believe. It was EXTREMELY CLEAR that they had not properly trained customer service representatives to deal with questions about the new change, resulting in a lot of my time wasted. In another instance I wanted to know if a branch had notary services. There's no way to call the branch directly, and the Global CU support (based in a different state) didn't know the answer! So there was literally no way to have my question answered short of driving to the branch and seeing if they had a notary. Laughably bad service. It's like they're actually *trying* to be bad. read more

The worst banking choice in Alaska! 1) If you have direct deposit they will delay it by a few days compared to other banks. 2) If you deposit a cashiers check they will put a hold on it for several days, unlike other banks. 3) The final straw was a suspicious withdrawal of multiple thousands of dollars from my account which they authorized without my permission or even my notification. I'm talking about the company not the people. Card cancelled due to fraudulent activity. Frustrating and inconvenient but I've dealt with that before. I was not told that global doesn't send out a new card for at ten working days. Not the 3-5 that I remember. In today's world a vast amount of bills are paid automatically. Now having no access to my account for at least another week I can't even order groceries for my home daycare, nor can I update other services such as Netflix, Amazon, audible Disney + and others. Don't suggest that I shut my business to make my way to a branch to get a card. I don't treat my customers that way. Akusa bought global but we turn around and drop a name we were proud of to take on the dorky unimpressive name of global throwing out the window the customer care that let us know we mattered. Global Credit Union has the most Anti Customer Services practices I have ever run across. Too bad Alaska USA had to be bought by them. I will now move all my accounts to another bank...anything has to be better than them. Putting hold on remote deposits that have been made every other week in the same amount for over 4 years. Putting holds on my debit card with no explanation. Not sending new debit card before current one expires. Customer service not helpful but rather mean. My Atm card stopped working. I paid $15.00 to expedite the shipping of the new card. The new card came late. After activating the new card it failed to work twice in 2 different locations. I called GCU on both occasions with no real help. I was informed GCU would send me a new card but if i needed the card before 7-10 days I had to pay the expedited fee of 15.00 again. This is truly unacceptable and poor customer service. I will be closing my accounts in this substandard financial institution. read more
