I randomly checked for any available appointments and got lucky with an open slot within two days. Super easy process! It was more difficult navigating the International Parking Garage G ($4/30 min). I missed it the first time and had to go back around lol. What to bring: - Appt confirmation with Membership Number/PASSID - Passport - Driver's License (if address is not current, also bring proof of residency) When you find the Global Entry Office, there's a big sign that says to wait for an officer to check in (don't knock!). The whole appt took maybe 10-15 min if that. An officer asks a few questions, takes your photo, and obtains fingerprints. I was told the Global Entry card comes in the mail within 3-4 weeks. The officer noticed my DL wasn't a Real ID and said the GE card would suffice (in addition to DL) when traveling domestically which was good to know.

You will see a guard/office coming out of the door, let them know you arrived (check in). You might be seen earlier like me.

I got the TSA Pre-Check and decided to get the Global Entry, too. What I should have done was get it both at the same time to be cheaper. The Global Entry fee is $100 for 5 years. The online application for Global Entry was actually long as it asked a lot of questions but once you submit it, it took only less than a week to get the pre-approval for me to file for an appt. The appt took awhile to find a spot in the SF airport. I had to call their customer service when they would open up dates and times again. Once I got the date to check for availability and schedule for an appointment , it was easy. I would get to your appointment a little early as I was able to check in with the guard earlier than my appt. The guards at the door seem to know that you are checking in for your appt so start your name and appt time but don't knock on the door, wait. Once inside, it took 5 min. The guy was super nice. He didn't make me uncomfortable at all. Took my picture quick so make sure to look decent. It's black and white photo so they can't see your makeup. I would make sure to park on the 3rd level garage G as the walkway is there. The parking area does not have a lot of spots so hope you can find parking. I got lucky as someone just left. The garage was full. I actually missed the parking A going into the airport but went past the airport drop offs and went directly into parking G which is at the end (last garage) you will see to the right. Thanks to fellow Yelper - SonyaE, finding the office inside helped a lot faster with her instructions. Thanks so much Sonya for the advice! Just follow the double doors, past the long electric runway, turn right past the glass door, than immediate left past the the elevators, than right. You will see the office on the right; across is a row of black waiting chairs and behind it is the escalator. See you back in five years! [78R,2023]

Appointments only - no walk ins, but of course y'all already knew that. I somehow got lucky and was able to score an interview appointment just minutes after I received my conditional approval online. I heard recently that appointments are few and far between -- I didn't know though because I had zero issues from the gate (pun intended). My interview was at 8:45am at this Global Entry Office. Since I don't care for the confusing routes at SFO, I wanted to give myself some buffer time in case I got lost. I arrived at 8:21am which gave me ample time to wonder around. P A R K I N G The email instructions are pretty clear but just for reference here, the closest entry point is Parking Garage G located at International Arrivals. If you follow the signs for hourly parking, it will lead you to Parking Garage A and that is where you ENTER. There are signs that literally say "follow the green line for Garage G" -- you can't miss the green lines carefully placed along the road after you enter Garage A. Once you follow the green line, you will be led to level 3 of Garage G. Find parking there. Easy peasy. R E A D After you park, follow the signs to Terminal Walkway. From there, you'll just make your way into the terminal and there will be signs that say "Global Entry Office" -- seriously, if you read and follow the signs -- it's a pretty hard office to miss. A R R I V A L As the sign on the door is marked pretty clearly: don't knock. Just have a seat in the waiting area and an officer will come out to call for appointments. Make sure to have your passport, proof of residence if your address on your driver's license has changed, driver's license, and any relevant legal paperwork (i.e., if you have a prior arrest, bring all the court paperwork, etc.). Again, all of this is outlined in the appointment confirmation email but just adding it here for additional reference. I N T E R V I E W Ladies, don't be like me and arrive looking like a hot mess because your photo will be taken. I had no makeup on and barely brushed my hair before leaving the house. Take some time to look photo ready. You can thank me later. Your right and left fingerprints will be scanned. The officer will ask you general questions -- where do you work?, what countries have you been to?, etc. You are you, so no one can answer any of those questions more accurately than you can. My interview took all of 5 minutes. I was out of that office and paying for my parking ticket ($6) by 8:51am. The officer who interviewed me had humor and still managed to murmur a couple of jokes considering it was so early on a Saturday morning. Final approval for Global Entry will be sent via email within 72 hours after the in-person interview (I received my approval email about 20 minutes after I left the office). The process from beginning to end was completely painless. Looking forward to jet setting in the very near future!

    You've arrived

Global Browser Global Entry is basically the upgraded version of the more common--and easier to obtain--TSA Pre-check for pre-boarding. For only an extra $25, you get all the benefits of TSA Pre-check at the same length of time (5 years) plus the benefits of it worldwide. The only real caveat is that it can take much, much longer to obtain. Step One (this is the easy part) is filling out the application online. It'll take you ±45-60min as it asks a lot of redundant and repetitive questions. Pro Tip: Have your visa/passport and driver's license info at the ready, and also your past addresses for the last five years. Step Two is to await conditional approval to schedule an interview. This can take as quickly as two days, such as my case; Carissa took over a week; and I've heard some people say the conditional approval took up to nine months?! Step Three (this is the hard part) is to schedule your interview online. While this seems simple enough, it can be trickier than it looks. If you happen to live in a popular area such as ours, the apts might take you months and months to get--as of today, they're full thru February and with no apts beyond that showing. But have no fear, just check back daily as there's always cancelations that you can jump on if you're flexible enough in your schedule. Otherwise, I've read online that they release new apts every first Monday of the month at 0900 local time. Step Four (the second easiest part) once you've scheduled an apt is to head down here to SFO to do your interview. While this might seem complicated, it really isn't if you follow these simple steps: 1) Park in Garage G (International terminal) 2) Park on "Level 3" (you'll have to drive down two floors from when you enter Garage G) to make for easier access; otherwise, you'll have to take the elevator there. 3) Head towards the elevators and into the hallway entering the terminal. You'll keep going thru a hallway where the parking payment machines are and hang a right. Soon, you'll see some signage. Just follow them to the door, which isn't far from the entrance to the terminal. 4) Wait at the door. Don't knock. Someone will come out eventually. And feel free to come early, as they took me at 3:30 p.m. for a 4 p.m. appointment. #EarlyBirdGetsTheWorm 5) Go thru the interview, answer a few inane questions, and you'll be home free. They'll give you your approval status right away, as well as your ID#. 6) Don't forget to pay for parking (I ended up spending $4 for my ±30min stay) and get the heck out of dodge. TLDR: Overall, it is fairly efficient for a government organization, although the website does kinda blow chunks. It would be 4 stars, but I'm giving them -1-star for only having an office at SFO and not SJC, where the largest population in the Bay Area resides

Great experience! The agents were very professional and courteous. The Global Entry office is located in the International Arrivals lobby on the G side of the terminal. I suggest parking at the G parking garage. It is a short walk from there. There are a couple of ways you can do this interview, you can schedule an appointment ahead of time, or you can schedule your interview appointment when you arrive from an international trip. Make sure you schedule an appointment, you won't be able to do a walk-in! Our family of 3 applied in October, and we got an appointment for the 3 of us in December. It was raining when we went and we left very early. We were at the Airport 45 minutes early and we did have to wait until our appointment time. Do not knock on the door. The agents come out and check you in. People are coming in and out all the time. Our appointment was at 8:45 pm and several people had appointments between 8-9 pm. Please bring all your documents, and remember the countries you have traveled to in the last 5 years and any additional documents they request. It was an easy interview. For the 3 of us, our appointment was about 10-15 minutes, and that included our pictures and fingerprints. Great experience!

    Do NOT knock

Super easy to find. International Parking G ... if you go to the wrong parking lot, there is a green line that leads you back to G. Level 3 ... hit the bathrooms ... next stop Global Entry. They come out regularly to see who is available and check in anybody who is sitting there, so coming early really paid off . Once inside it took about 10 min. Fast and efficient. PS: love the benefits. If you haven't tried it, you should really look into it if you fly a lot.

Ask the Community - Global Entry Office

My son has an appointment December 15...mine is tomorrow, can he come with me as a walk in?

They don't usually take walk ins.

Does anyone know if they are open during the current shelter-in-place order?

    They're open' 7am-11pm

How do you make an appointment when you see a new slot available on Twitter? I've logged into my account and refreshed to that date specified but don't see any openings..

These go QUICK, and you have to be fast and refresh and catch them if you can can.

As of June 2019, are walk-ins still allowed?

So I don't know the answer to that, but my best suggestion for you to reach out the consulate. Best wishes to you!!! Grazzie!

Is this place open now? Saw a sign in January saying it's closed indefinitely

It's open. They take walk ins only for name changes.

I already have an interview scheduled after two weeks, but it is one day before my travel. Can I still try my luck with a walk-in?

You can and when your approved you'll global number will be valid and you apply it to yiur ticket. Just be prepared to wait.

I signed up and paid for my application in Feb 2017. I scheduled and then cancelled my appt. I'd like to go into SFO for a walk in appt before my year is up (Feb 2018) and cannot find the conditional approval letter anywhere.Where does one find this?

You should have an account on https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/, go there and login. You'll see your application status then.

Has anyone shown up ridiculously early for their appointment? I snagged one for this Saturday but it's at 9pm. Hoping I can show up early that morning and get it done without being considered a walk-in?

I had a 9pm interview at SFO last Thursday. I arrived at 8:40pm. When I saw an officer opened the door, I told him I was 9pm. I finished the interview before 9pm and I think I was in and out of SFO in 15 minutes. There are not many seats in waiting…

Generic question on Global Entry: Can I leave the US while my application is in progress? Is there any restrictions on travel? Thanks.

Yes, you may leave the US while your application is in progress (I did). You may even be able to get a walk-in appointment on your return and save time.

What kind of questions do they ask during the interview?

If I remember correctly, they were mostly questions confirming information about yourself ie do you still live at your current address and do you still work at your current employer.

Anyone have today status on walk ins?

No More walk-ins a this location

Are the walk-in times still 8am and 3pm? Is arriving 2 hours before each walk-in time a reasonably safe bet for getting a walk-in slot?

Today is 3/23/17 and just spoke with someone at the Global office. He said show up after 11:30am. If you show up earlier, you'll have to wait for all the people with appointments to be seen. He said definitely not worth showing up at 4am.

There's nothing like the disbelief of walking out of Lucky Food Store in San Bruno pushing a full basket of groceries to discover your Honda Accord was stolen while you were inside. It was my daily beater to drive back and forth work, nothing special, a 1990 Honda Accord for crying out loud, albeit in immaculate shape and still looked like it was new, it was 22 years old with over a 100K miles! Who in the hell rips off a 22 year old four door "has been" soccer mom rice burner sedan??? WTF? Pissed off didn't even begin to describe my feelings when I realized it was in fact gone. In my mind I thought maybe I had been towed or something and after being assured by everyone in a manager's uniform that they didn't tow my car I called the police. Literally two minutes after I called a familiar Black and White pulls up. The cop gets out and says "Honda, Acura or Beemer", I said Honda and he then explained to me that most Hondas can be opened and started with any Honda key by simply wiggling them in the locks. He also accurately deduced I didn't have a club style steering wheel lock. I was starting to feel like a dumbass for a couple of reasons. One for not having a club and two for driving a friggin Honda. The reason for this review was just how cool this cop was. After taking the report, I pushed my basket of groceries back inside and the manager said they would keep it safe till I got back. Seeing me walking across the parking lot heading home to get my other car he pulled up and asked me if I need a ride to my house in San Bruno. Along the way he said "Don't worry, it'll turn up abandoned somewhere or we'll pull them over. Honda thieves can't drive for shit and tend to freak out when the police get anywhere near them". I just thought he was trying to make feel better and said "Thanks" when I got out. Personally I never thought I would see the car again. It wasn't a major loss. Grand worth was about $2K I guess. No biggie in the overall scheme of life. Fast forward to 1:30 am that night, phone rings and the San Bruno Police is on the line "We have your car pulled over here in Tanforan, this guy claims you loaned your car to him" After establishing that I didn't know this guy, he said "If you want to come get it, I can hold it till you get here" (different cop). I explained it would take me about 15-20 minutes and they said "no problem". When I asked them how they found it, I just had to smile when the police officer said, "this guy saw me coming and made a hard right from the far left lane with no signal on Sneath running a red, so I stopped him". Apparently the officer from earlier was dead on the money when he said Honda thieves are bad drivers and freak out when they see the police. FYI, I did try the key wiggle maneuver after I got it back and sure as hell, no matter what Honda key I used, I could "wiggle open and start it". Needless to say, I have a Club now LOL.
