With only premium food on offer; truffles, foie gras, chocolate, oils and vinegars to name a few, there is something to please everyone. There are lots of great gift ideas including a specials table located at the back. And a great place to visit before a long weekend.

I popped in recently in search of some quirky ingredients for a recipe I've wanted to try and walked out with way more than what I needed. They stock beautiful oils, pastas, meats, cheeses, pate, caviar and foreign food items that you could never find in a regular grocery store. I also have friends who have taken classes in their cooking school and have raved about it! They hold specialty classes with industry professionals in things like chocolate making, cheese making and baking as well as cuisine specific classes in making the most out of your BBQ and cooking Thai cuisine at home. I'm surprised that more people don't know about Black Pearl, especially considering Brisbane has an up and coming food culture. If you love to cook, eat or learn than I suggest you pop in to Black Pearl Epicure for a drool worthy browse sometime soon.

No more, I'm out the game" I declared. Like John Rambo, I chose a life of solitude away from all the fast living and bright lights of YELP reviews. I left the glitz and glamour behind me. I lived a simpler life. I could watch the children laugh and play, the sun shine and the plants grow. I could just eat something and not tell the whole world about it, strange but oddly calming. Then, despite my protests, I got invited to Brisbane's American style Deli Rueben's". I told them I'm done with reviewing, I'm done. Knowing what might awaken in me if I was to go, they insisted I join them for lunch......... Just when I thought I was out, THEY PULL ME BACK IN!!! Covid had well and truly put the Kibosh on coming here for me for quite a while but I made it my mission, once the green germy Covid dust clouds had settled, this was high on my list. Man alive was this worth the wait. Having eaten almost exclusively in places just like this in America, let me tell you, this place is pretty damn authentic. My dinning partner and I wept like puppies with food envy as we watched all the other peoples food come out wings and burgers being the big choices. Every single thing made you question your choice. Tried one of the Mexican beers which was really nice and as we soon discovered went pretty damn well with the grub. Would our Reuben and Italian Hoagie choice prove to be the right one? Yes, yes they did. The deli meat pile in my hoagie was about the size of my fist, ditto the Reuben. They DO NOT skimp on portion size here, so wear loose pants and skip breakfast. I'll wrap this up and pay this place the biggest complement I can. I am going to keep coming back to this place until I have finished every item on their menu. If you think I don't mean the kids menu and condiments, well, you're just wrong. I'm not above eating kid's food. If you want an American Deli experience I have not been anywhere that does it better than here.

I've been wanting to try Bunker for the longest time, and today was the day. I love the vine covered hub, which reminds me of a burrow, and of a cafe that I used to visit back in L.A. Instead of getting my usual latte, I went for the bottled ice dark chocolate (5). I'm not the biggest fan of hot chocolate, as it's usually too sweet and heavy for me to finish (I know, strange, because I can finish a whole Chipotle burrito), but I decided that the unusually warm weather called for an iced chocolate. We were greeted by a really friendly barista who helped us right away - and well - the iced dark chocolate and dark chocolate mocha were pre-bottled, so there wasn't much work. The iced dark chocolate, made with organic milk (I think?) and fair trade chocolate, was quickly consumed! It wasn't too sweet, and I would definitely go for it again. The iced dark mocha was also really good, and not at all grainy, which often happens in a lot of mochas. My only complaint was that the bottles were a bit harder to open (I prefer Bean's bottles), and the straws were too short and kept falling in! The drinks were so delicious it didin't matter though....

They also offer take-home coffee beans which they will grind for you depending on what device you'll be using them in.
