I'm excited to bring my son here for his first pumpkin picking experience in a few months! Year round, they have the best apple cider donuts. The cinnamon sugar is our favorite but all of the flavors are fresh and delicious. It's worth the trip just to try them, trust me!

Yet the county has a rich history in farming and agriculture from the late 1600s up into the 1970s. The small farms in north Jersey do more than just provide fruits and vegetables for our tables. They are open-air classrooms to our agricultural past, places to buy fresh produce and baked goods to support local family farm stores, and places for interesting special events and outings for families. Being the first Saturday after Labor Day, my partner and I got a head start on the apple cider donuts made fresh daily, just oozing with apple cidery goodness and never hot. Since 1973, located on Airmont Avenue in Mahwah, Secor Farms is a reminder of Bergen County's rural past and one of the last farms left in the area, passed down through three generations. Upon arrival in the afternoon, parking was not an issue with only a handful of vehicles. However, the farm comes alive starting Sept 15 with a corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin picking, and a petting zoo where reservations are required, with all sorts of activities. Their outside garden centers had pumpkins, gourds, fall decorations, and mums for purchase. We went inside their marketplace full of produce and managed to get a bag of mixed apple cider donuts and a quart of apple cider. These baked donuts have the sweet tartness of apple cider with a coating of cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. They were soft, moist, tender, and tastefully delicious. The price was reasonable. The staff was friendly. We can recommend this place.

Being that I was attending a pool party today I offered to pick up sandwiches for lunch for a group of 9 and called in an order for 2 hours later. Sadly 3 of the sandwiches arrived on ciabatta bread instead of focaccia, which was quite disappointing as the only reason the sandwiches were picked were specifically to get the focaccia. And, one of the sandwiches we asked for no sauce as it was spicy and she can't eat spicy, and it arrived with sauce, smothered all over. I understand everyone has an off day but almost half our orders were wrong. If they had run out of focaccia for example, I wish they would just have called us so we could have adjusted our order. Not even sure if that's the case or if they were just rushing in the kitchen and just threw everything on ciabatta but either way today was not a good day for Morano's.

Janice, the owner, mentioned that this "sometimes happens with last-minute orders" and said she would look into it and call me back. There was no apology, just an implication that the issue was due to my timing. I never received a call. I ended up having to adjust my menu at the last minute, which was stressful, and the lack of follow-up from a place like Morano's felt unprofessional. I had hoped that once the Thanksgiving rush calmed down, someone might reach out with an explanation or apology, but that never happened. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

One of the most authentic Santa's around is here and the kids loved him. Go into the market and pick up some apple cider donuts and hit chocolate cuz they are delicious. If I have one complaint it is the music station they have you tune in on. It's elevator music and doesn't enhance the experience for kids. My suggestion is to play your own fun music in the car for the kids and enjoy!

There's a small area with animals you can feed, and they offer a hayride throughout the entire farm--which is fantastic because you get to see everything. I enjoyed visiting the pumpkin field, where they have so many options and sizes to choose from. Afterward, I stopped by the market and picked up chicken wings, macaroni and cheese, and--most importantly--cider donuts. The market is also great for fresh produce, as well as a variety of sauces and jams. The staff is super nice and helps guide guests when the lines get long. There's a seating area outside where you can relax and eat your food. I will definitely be coming back here!

We had breakfast and lunch both from the little home cooked take out. They carry incredible organic baked goods by Betlehem Bakery. Organic, local items and produce. Kind owner. When we were there we saw a family come in with their young toddler. He immediately welcomed them and said I saved this for you! And it was a bag of unpackaged potatoes and a little empty basket on their produce shelf for him to go unpack. He was delighted and went over to do his big boy job. So cute! They carry dairy products from a farm across the street, local grains, cheeses, and bulk maple syrup from farms upstate. Beautiful bulk and produce sections. Hidden juice/smoothie bar in the back! I have watched this Co-op evolve over many years. They had some growing pains in the past (seems like any of the negative reviews are over 10 years old), but they must have taken feedback seriously, and consistently re-blossomed. They are now, again, my favorite place to find healthy food and a wonderful sense of community. Whole Foods is handy, but not cheap, and cannot compete with the amount of in-season local food available here. I love that we can have this option to support local farms, and keep our money in our regional community.
