Getting all new windows. We checked out other name brand companies and went with these folks who are the dedicated installers for Marvin Windows in our area. We liked the complete service package which means that if they find wood rot in the window frames before replacing they will perform all the necessary work to make the frames suitable for install. The salesman who came to our home was quite pleasant and does not work on commission. The other companies we spoke to would not do that but would stop work until we took care of the identified issue. Our install was pushed back due to the weather by two weeks. We have had a terribly wet spring early summer here. On 6/30 Igor the foreman arrived and began work with 2 technicians. One of the windows was not properly measured and ordered so he called his home base and they ordered another correctly sized window. It will not be installed now but when it comes in they will call us and schedule the install. 2-3 weeks. Not good. It is a double window at the back of the house. All other measurements were perfect. One unexpected benefit was we did not need to remove our living room blinds. Total cost for 18 windows $39,895. We have 24 windows but are not replacing our garage or basement windows at this time. They work fine. Should be a 2-3 day job. The crew is diligent, careful and clean. The job was finished with walk through and window demonstration on the second day. The issue for us began with just the estimate. The lady that picked up my call sounded very old, spoke slowly and was very unprofessional, unpleasant and wasted 20 minutes of my time just to schedule a person to come out and quote us on a window installation. While on the phone, she repeated multiple times how "you need to hire a professional to do a good job" and how "their company is very professional and does the best work around" while using a somewhat condescending voice as if she was talking to a dumb child. I'm sure you're already rolling your eyes just like I was. Very boomer-ish I'm-smarter-than-you kind of attempt to manipulate a consumer to go with their company. Eventually I finally got off the phone with the lady and an old man in his 60's showed up to our house at 10AM on a Saturday for the estimate. I kid you not when I say the guy started the conversation with normal greetings and introductions and then upon seeing our pets in their cage he immediately said "our Rottweiler just died." That was only one of multiple things that threw me off. He then took up to 20 minutes to just chat with us inside and outside the house, not doing his job at all, not measuring, not inspecting, nothing. When we finally got to the point of cutting a hole in our dining room wall and installing a window, that's when he pulled the typical outdated marketing tactic of trying to scare us into purchasing their service, saying things like "you really need to do this job now because you know, the tariffs, inflation, prices rising" and that "it could take up to 8 weeks for a window to be made and arrive." He even tried telling us nonsense such as "other guys will charge you 10K per window," that "you should never buy a stock window, you need a custom made window from good quality material" as if windows aren't sold at any Home Depot, and other this deflective finger pointing crap. Incredibly annoying and unprofessional behavior. But anyway, in the end he finally measured the wall, asked us what window we would like, then he left, came back in 10 minutes, gave us the estimate and we honestly couldn't believe our ears. He said that the job would cost $12,000, but that if we pay right now it's somehow only $8,000. At that point we knew he was pulling everything he said out of his butt and just wanted him gone at that point. But he just wouldn't leave. Even after he gave us the price and we clearly did not react with enthusiasm he wasn't wrapping it up and was still trying to be all buddy-buddy with us. At that point he's been at our house for over an hour, we haven't even had breakfast yet, and he was just yapping about his dead dog, his disabled wife and other uncomfortable subjects that do not belong in a salesman-to-customer conversation. He tried pressuring us into really considering paying right then and there but that's when I really put my foot down and told him we'll let them know our decision later just to get him out of our house and he finally left. In total he arrived at 10:00AM and left at 11:30. Absolutely ridiculous. Potential customers seeking a quick and clear estimate on work they need done on their house is not a place for unprofessional old people representing home improvement companies to take up 90% of the work time talking about their personal life, fearmongering and gaslighting potential buyers into paying for their company's services. Global came out the next day and gave us their Marvin Iestimate which was just abt half the Andersen price. They were prompt, dependable and did a GREAT job. Couldn't have been easier. Barry Metzger (salesman), DJ, Sam and Igor (Foreman) and his crew were excellent. They replaced all my windows (about 21) in our house with Marvin Infinity (Fiberglass) windows. Barry knew what he was doing and provided the best window replacements for each opening and he was right. The price was also right for this many windows which was a mixture of double hung, sliding/gliding side windows with picture window in the middle and a European style window that opens from bottom outwards (don't know the type) which is beautiful. The installation crew consisted of (3) men (Igor who was the foreman and 2 installers). They were amazing and professional as they removed the existing windows, installed the new ones and completed the job in a day and a half and left the areas completely clean. They did such a great job that I tipped them all. I can't say enough about this company (GHI-Global Home Improvements) as they were one of the best contractors that we have worked with. read more

They did a great job on the actual windows but one of them, when they took it out of the packaging, was broken. So they only did two of three. Then, I was told over and over that the reordered window wasn't in yet. Ended up taking from June 10th to October 12th to finally get the final window. I had a roof replaced with windows and trim; previous wood trim holes in it from a woodpecker. They were great to get out and get the job. They bragged about their warranty and customer ratings. The salesman did a great job assuring me that my issues would be resolved, stating, " the woodpecker would break its nose trying to get through this material". The techs did a good job on the project, no complaints with the work. Materials, different story. Six months after the job was done, the woodpecker came back and put two holes into the composite material. Four phones calls, spanning over 6 weeks and finally the service mgr tells me that there is no warranty for the woodpecker damage. When asked about the salesman reassurance, he said there is no guarantee for any material against woodpeckers. To add insult, he says to do something to remedy the problem, it would cost $450 materials and $200 per hour, no cap on labor. This is a company that claims to be professionals and know what they are doing. They are so professional that they don't stand behind their work and can't say how long a job would take. They were so disinterested in handling the problem that they didn't even come out to look at it. Pathetic. Needless to say, I would not recommend this company to anyone. A company that can't stand behind it's work and materials, is a company that people shouldn't use. read more

The installation crew was very polite; I don't think they were trained very well. I complained. The office sent out a person who should have been here at some time during the installation. Global Home Improvement installed siding to our historic home. The whole process was a nightmare from the day after they received our payment. The crew never showed up as agreed to, they cut corners and failed to follow manufacturer's guidelines for installation. Now we are left with products whose warranty is no longer valid, siding that is falling off our home, trim that is pulling off, moisture settling in under the siding and trim paint on everything but the trim. Initially they seemed good and it was easy to have our metal roof installed although I was a little nervous because we had to pay everything upfront and it was expensive. Then it turned out a seam was defective or they didn't properly seal the seam correctly and our roof leaked. It ruined the ceiling and interior of our home. They sent someone right out to fix the seam and he did but they have yet to repair the interior damage that was done due to their poor workmanship. They gave me a "guarantee" that there would be no issues but months later we are still trying to get them to fix the interior damage done due to their poor workmanship. I would NOT recommend using this business. ***Update. 3/17/16 Very happy to report that after I contacted the owners via email and complained again I finally got a response. They sent someone out a few days later to fix the damage. The issue is really that it shouldn't have worked out like that but I'm glad it was all rectified and I appreciated their making good on their guarantee. read more

When I first made my appointment, I got scheduled and everything seemed fine. Come time for the day of my appointment, the tech never called nor the office. When I called the next day, no apology was given for their mistake. I talked to both Kristen and Amanda about my situation. They tried to reschedule my miss appointment. Come again on the day of my 2nd attempt, no call from the tech. I called the office and spoke to Amanda again. Once again no acknowledge of the office mistake. I handle schedules for a living and if an appointment is missed by any customer. It is common sense that the business has to make amends to the customer that had taken time out of their schedule to keep a promised appointment. I hate the thought of writing a bad review and I wished I could give negative stars to a business that does not acknowledge their mistake. Stay away from this company. The only thing I am grateful for is that they never were able to work on my property since no one ever shown up twice. Overall, I would not recommend using GHI and here's why (sorry this is so long). We were able to get a Sales person, Dave, out to our house pretty quickly for an estimate. We told him that there were a few important factors to us, in addition to price, including how quickly the project could start/complete and communication. We needed the project to be completed quickly because the existing siding was leaking and causing water damage in our home, specifically in a nursery. In addition, we had a bad experience with lack of communication of another contractor we used so it was important to us to get quick responses and have frequent updates. Dave assured us that they were really good at communicating and that he guessed we would be complete before Thanksgiving, maybe even done by Halloween (we signed the contract in early October). The foreman, Mark, came out to meet us and discuss the project and then we pretty much never heard from them again for 5 weeks. We had to hound Mark for updates on whether materials had been ordered and when they would start (which wasn't until December, 7-weeks after we signed the contract). We sent numerous emails to Mark and Dave asking for updates and only got responses when we would follow-up with a phone call, usually this was days later. Once we finally got a date on the calendar, they cancelled the first day because someone called out sick. Given that they know how many projects you will be working on at any given time, I expect them to be staffed accordingly with back-up crew available. In addition Dave and Mark originally told us 1-2 day completion only to be told the day the project started that it was more like 4 days (ended up being 7 days because of weather, which I know is uncontrollable). Also Mark asked us the day he started if we could ask our neighbors to use some of their parking spots. He previously saw the layout of our house and driveway when he came months ago and never asked (why it was brought up the day of, not sure). I will not inconvenience my neighbors because they didn't plan correctly. These things, while very small, add to the disorganization and frustration of this project. On the second day (first actual work day), they showed up with no demo tools or scaffolding (!) and said they had to drive back to Philly from Northern NJ to get them. After that delay and an hour lunch break, they worked for a total of 4 hours before leaving for the day at 3:30pm. Mark told us the entire bottom of one wall would be complete yet the only thing that was done was one corner. When we asked the crew why the bottom wasn't complete, the response was, "it is what it is." Once the project got underway, it was very hard to get Mark on the phone. He was onsite one day (the first actual work day) for less than 30 minutes, but other than that, he was not onsite. So all of our communication had to happen over the phone. The main reason we replaced the siding is that the existing stucco was causing leaking inside, and we told both Mark and Dave that when the stucco was off we wanted to confirm there was no water damage to the plywood or insulation. They both agreed and then forgot. The crew had already put up the new plywood and water barrier before we could actually look underneath. Given that we told them this was such a big issue, I would expect them to make a point to communicate to us what was happening. We had to take their word that nothing was damaged or wet without actually seeing it. Throughout the project there were a few small problems. For example, the screws from the plywood installation came through to the interior drywall, damaging the walls in multiple spots. Mark would constantly make excuses for these problems, saying, in this example, "the wall must be old." We just renovating the entire interior and all the drywall was brand new (less than 1 year old). Instead of just owning the mistake and offering to fix, he was constantly trying to dodge responsibility. They also left our motion detector out in the rain which caused damage and needed to be replaced. Overall, we are pleased with the finished product but not the process itself. read more

They are guilty of price discrimination. I asked them for an estimate and they told me there was a 5500 dollar minimum. But the roof work I was asking for was shared with a roof that my neighbor owned half of. So they called me back a few hours later and said that it was now 5500 dollars per person. They actually invented a rule that is not on their website, not listed anywhere, just to try and raise the price on me. Very crooked and unethical. read more

I have worked with Vlad and others from Global Home for several years trying to correct major roofing and construction problems from a previous builder (who is now out of business). I have found them to be responsive, customer-service oriented and of course, very knowledgeable. After doing work 3 or 4 years ago on a metal roof problem, I called them about a leaking issue, and they responded immediately. Vlad came again to my house to try and diagnose the problem, and they were extremely consistent, timely and professional on follow-up. ("It is probably not the roof, it may be the windows, let's perform a stress test on various parts....). My only downside is that there is sometimes a communication gap (I think that they are from Belorussia). But in terms of professionalism, customer service and timeliness, in my opinion, after having worked with lots of contractors on many small and large construction projects, they are topnotch. read more

I made an appointment to get an estimate on Marvin windows. 3 small basement awning windows, complete replacement down to the cement and capping. The person on the phone said the appointment would be 90 minutes which I thought was strange but agreed. The same morning I had both Lowes and Home Depot come out for the same job. Each one was right on time, I showed them the windows, left them alone, they came inside to measure. Then each one took about 15 minutes of my time to explain their windows and do a sales pitch. I didn't have to cut them off and they didn't waste my time. Pleasant experiences. Global was 2:30. The guy shows a few minutes early, which was fine with me. Earlier that day I had a work meeting pop into my calendar for 3:00, in which I was leading the meeting. So Global guy does measuring, shows me a great polished presentation on his i-Pad, and 2:40 asks me if I want the long version or short version. I say "I have about 10 minutes and then I have to prep for a meeting that I have to lead". He takes 10 more minutes, I ask a question, he answers it well. I got the entire story and am satisfied. He wants to go on. I say "I have to lead a meeting in a few minutes and can't talk any more". He says "I'm going out to my vehicle to work up the price". OK. Understand, the HD and Lowes guys gave me the price immediately...and this guy knew his price too, was just executing a sales tactic like car salesman. So I got on my meeting and started it in the other room with door closed. A couple of minutes in my friend who is working on my house opens the door and says this guy wants me. I go to the door and he has the estimate and I think he's just going to give it to me. I had earbuds in and did the "I'm in a meeting" and he ignored it and started talking about something about the estimate. I said "I can't talk now I'm in a meeting, leave the estimate"..and motioned to take it from him. He pulled it back and said "Well, that's not how we operate. Didn't the girls tell you that this would take 90 minutes?" I said "Yes but this meeting came up and I have to take it. Call me" and I shut the door on him. I got back on my call and people were like "Is he talking on mute?" I said "Sorry everyone, I had an interruption and I tried to make it go away but it didn't want to go away" and laughed. Everyone laughed too. But seriously, this is rude pushy sales tactics and I hate that stuff. Then I got the estimate later out of the mailbox - $3300 for three small basement windows. Come on, even if the windows are 2-3 times the cost of regular windows that's still like 2k for install...each window 2 hours, this is crazy people. I would steer clear of Global. Global was hired to install siding and build a portico for our home. Siding was completed and there was a complication with the portico which we were told was our town's fault. After months (we signed a contract in April) of no update and no portico (all while they held onto our approx. $7000) we decided to halt the project. Our refund amount was given and we were confused as to why so much money was deducted. Long story short and a trip to our town zoning dept later, and it was revealed that Global Project Manager Mark signed off that we would be installing a 2ft portico when we planned on an almost 4ft. We were informed by Mark over and over that the architect plans were being rejected because of the 4ft we had planned. Now, he knew that it HAD to be 2 ft in JULY and in August, Sept, Oct came back to us with new plans still with the larger measurement never flat out saying it couldn't be what we had asked for. So, Global charged us for a permit they obtained for a 2ft portico we never approved and numerous architect plans revising a larger portico size (all while it was known only to them it had to be 2ft). We spoke with Jack Jamison, VP of Operations, and stated our dismay at the complete lack of transparency and argued we shouldn't be paying for fees and plans when we should have been told the project wouldn't pass zoning with our original measurements. I was told I would get a return phone call after he went back and discussed our case. Two weeks later, no call. I called and left a message asking when we would be resolving the matter. An hour later we get an email saying our refund is on the way, no amount given. I call the secretary to ask the amount and if Jamison would be returning my call. No change in amount refunded and we wouldn't be getting a return call from Jamison. Complete disregard for their lack of communication, transparency, and work ethic. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND working with a company that protects their interests over the customer and quite frankly, participates in deceptive business tactics. That, or they just don't know what they're doing and couldn't own up to this mistake. read more

I wish that I had seen the previous review prior to contracting with Global in October 2014. After extensive searching we chose Global as a premier contractor to install our James Hardie siding. We were sold a three week window for install at the end of October/early November. We paid a substantial down payment and given the name of our project manager. Our home is a 6,000 remodel- a large job. At the end of November a crew of two men showed up to start the job, already delay and heading into the winter weather. The men would show up maybe two days a week, they left the job site littered with their tea bags, cigarette butts and gum wrappers. Delay after delay occurred, always with excuses from the project manager and business owner. In March of 2015, with threats to get our attorney involved the crew returned to the site to complete the work. The caulk has bubbled, is applied with little attention to detail. The trim paint is spotty, nail holes are not filled, whole sections have been skipped. I have done research on Global Home Improvements, and their web presence is outstanding- my wonder is, who is writing those reviews? read more

I hired these guys to replace my roof with metal. The guy came out and spent about 3 hours on a whole song and dance about metal roofing. It was fine, somewhat informative, and definitely slanted towards getting me to pay for a metal roof, which of course I knew it would be, so totally fine. He then quoted me a price that he immediately said they couldn't come down from. After a back and forth he dropped the price almost a quarter. Hard negotiating tactics and games I didn't appreciate. He also claimed that there was some urgency about signing the contract due to a likely price increase in materials that subsequent contractors told me was a lie. At this point I feel that it is likely that I could've gotten an even lower price by not signing a contract on the first day, HOWEVER I did have a couple of other contractors out both of whom quoted significantly higher prices. Additionally he tried to sell me on some features including a lifetime transferrable workmanship guarantee transferrable to the next owner. I have no record of this anywhere and despite asking for it I wouldn't have any way of proving this or getting any value from it when I sold the house. He also claimed that if anyone in the neighborhood (within 2 miles I think) got a metal roof they would immediately send me a $500 wawa gift card (They apparently do Wawa's roofs, or so he said). I had a neighbor approach me and ask about my roof. She lives literally a block over, got her roof done and listed me as a referrer. I got nothing until I hounded them by phone and email for weeks on end. I still haven't gotten anything except an email saying they've sent me a gift card for $100 and that they have no idea about $500. Whatever, seemed like a weird/unrealistic promo anyways but I don't like being lied to. Lastly when I talked to the initial salesman I asked him about any potential hiccups that might increase the price. I told him I was paying the edge of my budget and I just wanted to be prepared for any possible price fluctuations due to foreseeable problems. He told me it was highly unlikely that the price would deviate from the agreement. Our project manager set a date during which I was on vacation, which was fine, but did not communicate when they cancelled due to weather. I literally thought the work would be done and came back to the same old roof. There were several more scheduling hassles and poor overall communication about the work. Finally when the work was done, the guy told me a lot of the wood had been rotted and they needed to charge me another $1,500 for extra sheets of wood they'd had to use. Its not a lot compared to the total price of the roof, and I was able to negotiate down to $500 (very quickly, I might add) but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Also we had agreed on a gutter around the roof and what they put in was a yankee gutter (google it). Not the same thing at all, but does approximately the same job, except when you have small sheets of ice on the very edge of your roof which fall to the ground one by one because there isn't a gutter. Again, not a huge deal, happened once, but potentially dangerous. Overall the quality of the work seems to be good, their workers were friendly and they did it quickly and left the job site clean. Thats what matters most which I why I gave 3 stars. That being said, know going in that they are HIGHBALLING you by at least 25% on the first estimate and forcing you to play games about price. Also ANY promises they make need to be in writing. read more

We had our gutters and soffits replaced last year and the crew did a fantastic job. Their workmanship was excellent. The main reason why they're not getting 5 stars is their front office. Their on-site estimator did not communicate with the office personnel. We went through several iterations of their contract, due to lack of details. We were very specific with what we had wanted, because we had requested a redesign of our gutter system, not a simple replacement. However, once the contract was completed to our satisfaction and the work was completed, we were extremely happy. We would and have recommended them. read more

I suppose they did a good job on my roof and repointing my chimney. I don't know much about that so I trust that they did. However, when I balked at paying $13,000 (all the other estimates were around $10K) they dropped the price by $2000; makes me think the original estimate was inflated. The guys were nice but neither spoke English so I had to get the project manager on the phone to ask questions of them. I also mentioned that $1500 for a three hour re-pointing job seems like a lot and the response I got was that I signed the contract so I was stuck with it. If you hire this company, negotiate the price. The first quote isn't their best price. I was able to arrange zero percent financing for five years; maybe that's where the higher price came in. read more

This operation gets a C- as a contractor. The cleanup around the job site is deplorable. We had a metal roof installed which took a few days. After the first day I contacted customer service and complained about the screws left all around the job site. I have small children and a screw in the foot is no picnic. I was told that this was a construction site, basically lump it. I picked up over a hundred screws the first day. I wrote a letter complaining about an "Animal House" food fight with screws. There was a one day delay and no one from the organization came to talk to me or look over the job site. I have since picked up hundreds more screws. I had both my 26 windows and my siding done by Global last year. The workmanship was excellent. They not only replaced the old siding, but they removed a significant amount of stucco, rebuilt the outer wall under the stucco, and applied the new vinyl siding to those parts of the house also. The work was done in the time expected and we are pleased with the quietness of our home from external noises as well as the energy efficiency improvement. We are writing this review in frustration in the hopes that we save someone else from the trouble. We are presently using Global in siding our home. The project has endured several delays since July. It is now October and the job has begun, however we now wish it hadn't. The company is very disorganized and does not communicate with their customers. We have asked several times to talk to a foreman to discuss some issues with the project only to be given the name of 4 different people. None of which has ever called or been to the house. One afternoon an assistant was sent, however he never relayed the concerns we discussed to the workers. Each day 2 men show up after 10 and leave around 4, but they are always different workers so there is no way to communicate or organize such things as when to have the electric company out to remove the meter box. We have called numerous times and sent several detailed emails to no avail. We are in week 2 and do not have the confidence that the project will go well. We sincerely wish we had chosen another company. read more
