If you really care for your furry companion, this is the kind of shop you are looking for. The utmost friendly staff is knowledgeable about the food that they sell, and the animals that they serve. The range of food is exquisite. Bigger stores usually sell a house brand and one other, and neither is really good. Global Pet Foods offers a great variety of brands and food types. In fact, the variety is so good that you will have a hard time finding a pet so abnormal that it couldn't make a healthy living off what these guys sell. This is the food that your vet recommends, plus the treats that your vet acknowledges. I guess the selling point to me is that they exclusively sell food and toys (and accessories), but not animals. The biggest problem with pet stores is that the staff usually consists of sales people who had a crash course in animal identification. But even if you don't despise animal traders (like I do), you will not find a better place for you pet needs than this one. The first time I was introduced to Global Pet Foods in Cambrian was by a dog trainer. That first time I walked through the doors I knew that I had found my forever pet store! The owners are on site, them and their staff are incredibly friendly, always with a smile on and very helpful.They care about you and your pets. They will spend the time with you to help you understand the different options of foods that are out there for your pets today. They have a great selection of products for all your pets needs and are very knowledgable about all their products. I always seem to come out of there with something new for my pets.And if it's something special you need they will try and place a special order and get it in. They are very much a part of the community and the community loves them!! I walked into Global Pet Foods looking for something to help my foster puppy's breath. I had those "Dentastix" in mind. I asked the girl working if they carried them, however they didn't. The girl instead showed me different alternatives. I was impressed because she showed me one option which was pretty expensive, but then showed me a few more affordable options which she highly reccomended. I decided to buy the ones she said her dogs really liked (a stick called "Get Naked") which my dog ended up loving! I really appreciated all the help the girl working provided me with. I also looked around and saw that the store had a good selection of dog and cat food as well as different types of toys and accessories for pets. read more

I started going to this store when my dog was a young pup. She has multiple food allergies and Tara was incredible at helping me find a food that she could eat and do well on. Over the last five years Tara, Mark and their staff have been nothing but helpful, always willing to help make sure I wasn't buying treats that would make my dog sick. They have helped me every step of the way with a really special needs dog. Their staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable as well. When I recently experienced some personal issues, I called them and they made sure that my dogs did not go hungry while I straightened things out. I can't say enough good things about them. I have always loved the customer service and selection at Global Pets Cambrian but now I have even more reason to love it! I moved to Renfrew from Mount Pleasant and during the move, we left my big cat tree (bought from Global Pets Cambrian for a great price) outside to get other things moved in but someone stole it when we weren't looking. Needless to say, I was devastated that my new neighbours would do that. The owner of Global Pets overheard me telling the story to one of his staff and offered to help me. We discovered this neighbourhood gem shortly after it opened and have been coming back ever since...even introducing friends from other parts of the city that now swear by it. Customer service at its finest with great products and decent prices. Recently they surprised me with a level of service I thought was long dead and gone... I'd bought a brand of food I hadn't tried before and my dog turned his nose up it. Having admitted defeat, I went back in a few days to buy get something else and they asked how the new food went over. Told them it was a dud and they insisted I bring it back for a full refund even though the bag's been opened. Who does stuff like that anymore?! read more

Global pet foods = Unbelievable customer service. Knowledgeable, caring owners and staff. I couldn't find a better pet store in all of Calgary. Great selection and attention to detail. And just as a quick aside- the owners, are like the neighbourhood Angels, if you happen to have car trouble, and you're stalled dead in the middle of 14st, and the gas station near by can't help you- Global Pet Foods can. I highly recommend Globel Pet Foods because I find the owners to be ethical, courteous, helpful and concerned for the wellness of my pets. The owners are a very close and loving family and their employees are extremely friendly and very informed about their products. The store environment is a happy one. They carry a large inventory and are willing to bring in whatever you may be seeking whenever possible. The owners are personable, the staff are friendly, and the store is welcoming. This family run shop feels warm, clean, and intimate which is something often missing when I visit other pet stores. Spent the winter checking pet stores in Arizona for a belt to walk more than 1 dog. Impossible to find. Then I go to my neighbourhood pet store in YYC and they have so many choices it is hard to decide! They carry lots of unique things not found at most chains, including higher quality food and snacks. I came here the first time only because I noticed they had Airmiles and I haven't fone anywhere else since. They are super friendly and always helpful.
