I can hear the meowing in my dreams and want to stop by everyday to enjoy kitten time. This is an unassuming little place in St. Albert, but I like it! It's one of those pet stores that feels as though it's from the past because they still feel alive with pets. We don't get to St. A very often at all, but they have bomb prices in comparison to other places, so it's worth a stop in when we are in town. Case in point: the cat hammock in Petland was $54 and the cat hammock here was $23 (?!?!?!). That's an insane savings. We also got tongs for $11, and they're usually like $25 at Petland. Same brand of Exoterra Tongs too. Crazy. I also got four frozen rats for like $5 each or something? I was impressed by that price for petite rats. We're not feeding our new rescue snake live anymore and she is taking to frozen quite well, so I'm down for the savings and not having to feed live (my heart couldn't handle it). Staff is just OK. It tends to be young kids that don't really know what is going on, prices of things or information on products. They're not too interested in answering your questions so it's kind of like a fend for yourself situation. I know what I'm looking for though so it's all good. I'll be back for the prices and variety of items.

They come in a clear plastic container filled with fresh dirt and a bunch of pinkish meal worms that are happily squirming around, doing the things that meal worms do. The prices of their worms are very reasonable, and there's many different sizes as well. I still find them disgusting though, and I often feel like they are going to someone get out of the container and start crawling all over me. I haven't been to Paradise Pet Centre for much else other than the worms, but this is a really nice store that is kept very clean and organized. The staff is really helpful and nice too. I used to have a fish, so sometimes I'd browse the fish merchandise, but it's pretty expensive. I found PJ's Pets and Petcetera to be cheaper.

Smaller than some locations but still carries just about everything you need. Identical cat food was only about 10% more expensive than Walmart. Good to come here on sale days or for a special treat. And remember - pets are welcome! PS I highly recommend the furminator cat and or dog hair brush. It's pricey but will last forever. It gets the undercoat of the pet. Worth every penny!

They also have special adoption weekends with LOTS of critters to beg to come home with you. If you do adopt, be sure to get one of their free packets (for cats and dogs) that are full of coupons for special deals, even a free bag of food. Speaking of food, who would have imagined that dog or cat food could take up aisles and aisles, and then more aisles! Never knew there were so many choices - you're sure to find what is exactly right for your best friend here, be it puppy or fish or gerbil. You can even bring your pet to the store and let them pick out their favourite! They might even get a surprise treat at check-out time :-)

I took the coat home, but it was too large, so I returned to the store to exchange it for a smaller size. I was told that can't happen as all sales are final. I was not trying to get out of a sale, but simply trying to be a happy customer. To switch for a correct size would not entail any exchange of money or effect their inventory. I purchase both dog and cat food here frequently, and always pick up a toy or two for the pets. I will not longer be frequenting this location. I will go somewhere where customers are appreciated.

Load up a bunch, head to the till and it doesn't ring up on sale. Cashier calls a floor manager to check the shelf, who then checks with the store manager and apparently this was a Black Friday promo that had expired. Even with their mistake of the signage being left up they wouldn't honour the discount out of goodwill. Not even a few pieces. According to the floor manager they don't take part in the Code of Conduct, whatever that means. However if the company can afford to put it on sale for a price, they can afford to honour the sale when the employees haven't removed the signage a few days after the expiration. Incredibly disappointed with the service and likely won't be back.

They also don't come individually wrapped - they wrap them in paper towel and put them in a bag for you. This means they might get freezer burn or stuck together if you don't use them fast enough. So my suggestion is to only buy like 4 at a time instead of stocking up. I honestly think I will keep coming here for worms, but I'll stick to buying my rats elsewhere just for the price alone. You gotta come on Tues/Thurs to get the new worms! If you come on a Monday the selection isn't good and you might be buying 50 but then find that half are dead. So definitely try and come in for the fresh shipment. Sometimes I bring my babygirl Smaug (Bearded Dragon) here and the staff is so nice to here. They love seeing her and she likes to be out and about socializing with all the humans. I like that you can bring your animals here - even the reptiles. I come here just for the staff alone, they're always friendly and helpful. I feel like I get good service here. I also bought my ginger cat, Churchill, here! We saw him in the window a year ago and had to take him home with us! I can't believe that was almost two years ago now! Time flies!

Border collies are only suppose to live 12 years but my Dexter is still going. I believe it is from the food. I found it way better than production line quick stuff to only expand in the belly and is full of dyes. Dexter's coat is very shiny and he still has lots of energy. I would recommend this store to anyone, matter fact I have. I found the staff to be very knowledgeable and the price is awesome. I get a large bag for $70.00+ but it lasts him 5 or 6 months so it works out to only $13.50 a month. You really can't beat that. Dexter's food is always down for him, I do not feed him on a schedule. I believe they also do grooming in the back, but I haven't used them yet. Price and selection of foods seems to be better. This is another service I don't need as much, but it's nice to find the furchildren nice little goodies like Turducken wet food. What I appreciate them most about this place is the quality and price of their merchandise. I noticed the price of their cat trees have gone up, but they are still far superior to Pet Smart. Pet smart 'stack' their levels, where as the ones you buy here are 'staggered'. They sell buckle and better breakaway collars for less, with no stupid bells on them. Oh--and check out their awesome selection of all natural dog-treats!
