Global Roofing & Construction were contacted to repair my roof after Hurricane Helene. This was/is an insurance claim. Buddy & Alicia Evans came to my home, went over everything that needed to be done including some smaller issues. First he asked me how much the insurance company is giving me?!? I told him it doesn't work that way, "you give me and estimate and I'll approve or not". I approved the estimate, after getting a couple of others. Aside from some scheduling issues with the actual roofer (Best Roofing) all went well. Then we get to the other 'minor' issues. So he & Alicia come back to my home to go over what the insurance company approved, which included the following: Remove & replace the lattice and plexiglass wind barrier by front door 8'x8' Remove and replace screening on porch Remove and replace 12sq feet of vinyl siding His estimate $3800!!!! That sounded quite high to me, but It was close enough to the insurance company appraisals so I said let's go. However, he wanted 1/2 down which I gave him but didn't give me an invoice with individual prices. He didn't measure the screen for the porch so he bought the wrong size and wants to charge me $102 to have to replace it PLUS $30 for gas. It the real kicker is the plexiglass, remember, it's being used outdoors as a wind/rain barrier. He purchased the most expensive sheets ($260 EACH!!). Fortunately I was able to return them and purchased one (decided not to do 8') for $70. Somewhere around 2 weeks after the estimate he finally got 2 guys to get my screens done (because he doesn't do that type of work!). When Imgot home from an appointment there was nobody here. All my screens were taken out and thrown and left on the ground which I had to clean up. I called Buddy and asked why the new screens weren't installed. He told me the guys had to leave after 30 mins. for which he charged me $300! So he got $1900 from me, spent $1101 on materials and told me he would send me back $750, that was on Dec 9th! TWO AND A HALF TIMES ORIGINAL QUOTE FOR UNAUTHORIZED WORK? I DON'T THINK SO! I searched for roof repair on Angie's List in Hendersonville area and came up with Global Roofing and others. Global Roofing contacted me and I arranged for them to meet me to give me a quote. A roof repairman, Bob?, not the owner, stopped by when I was on my way to another appointment. He said he inspected my neighbor's roof while he was waiting for me since I had reported they had the same problem. He expected it was the same problem- improper installation of the roof pipe. I told him I agreed because I found all three of our buildings had that same issue (water spot same location in each condo). I asked him if it is the same problem what it would cost to fix it. He said $200 per building. Late for my appointment he asked if he could go on the roof to see the problem and I said sure and left. I returned several hours later from my appointment and he was on my roof making repairs! I was stunned because I didn't authorize the work. He said he had done two of the five pipes that needed replacing. I asked him to stop where he was because I hadn't received authorization from our HOA to have the work done and I also usually get 3 repair estimates whenever I have work to be done. He said he thought I told him to fix it and when he finds a problem and knows how to fix it he doesn't waste time. He apologized for the misunderstanding and departed. After I thought about it I called to let him know I would pay him for the materials and time he invested impartially doing our work and I told him I was sorry if I wasn't clear about what he was to do. I told him to send me an invoice, expecting that to be half or less than the $200. I also told him I would be paying him out of my pocket since I hadn't received authorization but I was willing to pay him anyway because I felt partially responsible for the misunderstanding. Today I received a call from the owner, buddy I believe, who told me he understood they were going to do some additional work on our roof. I explained all the above to him and asked him to send me an invoice I also asked for the amount. He said $200. I responded that we were told $200 for the entire building, five pipes, which would amount to $40 a pipe, (so I expected to pay about $80 for the two pipes that he did.) Buddy very aggressively told me that was wrong and I owe him $200. Understand this means he wanted me to pay two and a half times the original quote I received and the work was not even authorized! When I ask Buddy to provide evidence that is the going rate for replacing a roof pipe he told me to go check around and named some roofers. Then he said if I would pay him immediately he would give me a $50 discount. I told him to send me his invoice and I would verify the going rate myself and asked him to give me roofers names again so I could verify what he told me. He said I have a computer and I should go research that myself. I told him to send an invoice and said goodbye. I thought you might like to have this information about this contractor. Buddy from Global Roofing gave me a $4600 quote for removing a tree and over $10000 to remove the single wide mobile home in Asheville NC. Two other demolition companies gave me a $3200 quote for removing everything. read more

Do not hire these people, they overcharge and their work is substandard. We just recently saw a leak and contacted a roofer who found that after changing the metal they not only reused screws but also used wood screws that should not have been used. Do not trust Buddy, he comes across as a very nice helpful person but speaks with a fork tongue. I would not hire this company if you paid me. read more

DO NOT HIRE!! They do not guarantee their work, and when you find out they did a crappy job, they do not return calls/email/formal complaints. I have filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding this business and these individuals. They have yet to return any of my emails/calls/or respond to BBB despite multiple attempts. I hired Alicia and Buddy Evans (the owners of the company) to complete roof repairs and internal repairs from a roof puncture and water damage. Every conversation I had was with them directly to discuss what I expected. Not only did they do a terrible job of the internal repairs (photos provided) but more shocking is that they left the ROOF UNFINISHED!! We decided to sell the house several weeks after they "completed" repairs and during the required OFFICIAL home inspection it was found that this company had left over a hundred externally nailed shingles in place (these shingles should have been replaced completely). Additionally, the damaged ridge cap, vent and drip edge were not replaced or addressed. They literally fixed a small puncture and left everything else untouched, and ultimately left the roof/home susceptible to more water damage. On top of all this, they charged me more than their initial estimate. Initial estimate: 4,380.00 Total paid: 4,671.36 Ultimately, in order to sell the house we had to have two other companies come in and redo the drywall and paint job, and reputable roofing company to actually fix the roof. Here is the on-going timeline of my attempt to get restitution from this company. As of now they refuse to acknowledge/respond to any complaint: 8/10/19: Emailed (our realtor took pictures to show internal repairs were unacceptable) 9/9/19: Called and left a message to discuss their work 9/9/19: Emailed to follow-up 9/11/19: Better Business Bureau (BBB) Complaint filed (case #553997) 9/19/19: BBB 1st deadline company did not respond 10/1/19: BBB emailed to state they made several attempts to contact this company and received no response Keep in the back of your mind I have phone records to correlate financial transactions to this company, and an official home inspection report to prove they didn't do the work I hired them to do. I have posted photos of the drywall/sheetrock job they completed. Our realtor took these photos to show the terrible workmanship. I told Buddy over the phone that I would like them to paint each of the small walls entirely so that there wouldn't be a line between the old paint and new paint. Take a look at the "finished" work, the sanding job is not at all smooth or consistent with the adjacent walls, and notice the metal of the corner bead visible where the drywall mud is too thin no paint is covering. I had specifically asked that the new paint be rolled out on each small wall for color continuity; that clearly didn't happen either. Check out the baseboard that they installed and painted and notice the black screws visible; no spackling or paint to cover. I'm also pretty sure there is a big splotch of wall paint on the fresh trim as well. Next move on up toward the ceiling; they mentioned to me that they didn't find any paint in the house to match the ceiling, and so I assumed that they had gone out and matched the ceiling paint and my bill would be a little higher. No... they just left the darker paint or drywall mud in a splotch on the ceiling instead of clarifying with me about purchasing more paint. Oh, but wait! There's more! It appears that there are beads of drywall mud just hanging out along the ceiling that have not been sanded smooth. I feel that they purposefully deceived me when they sent me a photo from a distance where the details couldn't be seen. In my opinion this is not the company you want working on your property. I initially found this company through Angie's list and contacted them through that messaging service. I have even reviewed this company on Angie's list and still have received no reply from them. They have been "renovating" a house in my neighborhood for over three months. One of the workers is secretly living in the house while they are renovating. He sneaks in late at night and then leaves before the rest of the crew gets there in the morning. He's even has friends over for late night parties in the house. There's VERY obvious drug use but I won't go into detail on that. Loud music and construction noise are coming from the house at all hours of the night in an otherwise quiet neighborhood. It's not uncommon to hear hammering, lumber being thrown and the loud sound of table saws coming from the house at 2-3am. Did I mention the house looks worse than when they started? The home was already in a state of disrepair but they have taken it to a whole new level. The overall quality of work is extremely poor on the outside...I can only imagine what they've done to the interior. Avoid this company! read more
