Had an amazing spa day with my husband here. We are in Lisbon for two days on a cruise…read more The spa was clean, smelled wonderful, all the staff was so welcoming and kind. We had tea before our float session which was so relaxing. After we enjoyed more tea and cookies while we waiting to get couples massage. Our massages were amazing!! Probably the best massage I've every had, my husband said the same. If you are in Lisbon and looking for a place to relax, come here! The price was wonderful as well.

How does floating in a space pod of warm salty water in total darkness and quietness sounds to you?…read more Scary? Fun? If it's the latter, you may want to give this a try! Epsom salt increases the density of water, so you'll float without drowning. Supposedly the lack of outside stimuli will allow you to totally relax. Moreover, your muscles will be relaxed in the quasi weightlessness. When I found that this place costs almost half of similar places in U.S. I figure it's a nice item to add on my agenda. The spa has only two floating rooms, so be sure to make reservations ahead of time. They also offer massages and stuff. Staff is very nice, both when I called for reservation and when I got there. We were given slippers and tea as we checked in, then led into our rooms. The dimly lit room has the space pod in the center, and a shower in the corner. After shower you can get into the pod. The controls for light and music are located near your feet. Earplugs and towels are provided. Be very careful not to get any water into your eyes and mouth - not pleasant at all!! If you have done meditation or yoga, you definitely will have a easier time quieting your mind, and not going crazy about having nothing to do for 45 mins. It's an interesting experience to be just floating, though I didn't relax as much as I expected. The problem is: breathing. You don't usually hear your own breathing. But try covering your ears with your hands and breath. No matter how lightly you breath, there's noise of air moving through. If you breath very shallowly you can almost be totally quiet, but then it doesn't help you relax - long, deep breaths do, but then they are LOUD. i didn't quite figure out this part, and I would have enjoyed the float a lot more. Slowly the light is turned on, to let you know it's time to climb out of the tub. Afterwards, we were led to the relaxation room, where we could sit back and enjoy some tea.

Really disappointing. On holiday I searching for a place to get a bikini wax before heading to the…read morebeach. I called and asked if they spoke English, they said "of course". I then proceeded to book a wax, but when asked if I wanted bikini or Brazilian, I said I would need to talk to my therapist. I rushed to get there on time despite it being a bit hard to find (it's inside a hotel) and was greeted by a friendly front desk. They took me downstairs and told me to have a seat. I sat in a nail care room watching an older woman finishing up her manicure, lots of chit chat in Portuguese, for the next 10 minutes. Then after 5 more minutes, the lady who was doing the nails walked over to greet me and take me into the room. She didn't speak any English, which was going to make this challenging, but I was still game! We went inside, I explained as much as I could with simple words and hang gestures. She then started the waxing. It was excruciating (more than usual) and not very quick at all. At one point the wax wouldn't come off completely so she just rubbed it in with lots of pressure and friction, creating a kind of blood-blister-bruise. When I gestured toward it she said, "it go away tomorrow." Whenever I would say it hurt, she would say "let it go"... halfway through the wax I had really lost trust and was become more nervous. She said sorry a few times but a few times she literally just laughed at my pain and said, "let it go". It was bad. If you're a native Portuguese speaker perhaps you could have demanded a better experience for yourself, but in the case of a foreigner-vacationer-English speaker, please avoid this place. It's been 5 days now and the blister has turned into a dark discolored scabby area...
