I procrastinated on my taxes again this year…read more... I did a google search for an accountant who specializes in small businesses, and I found McKerley & Noonan. I sent a request through their online form after business hours, and I had a response at 8 AM the next day. I met with Justin, and he was friendly and professional. I told him I had had a bad experience in the past with an accountant charging me hourly and ending up with a huge bill. He agreed to give me a set price and told me about it up front. No hidden fees. I got him my paperwork about 3 weeks before the deadline, and he had everything done within a week. He called with bad news-I owed a TON of money, but he did a great job of helping me find things that I could expense that I missed. He helped reduce what I owed by about a quarter. He helped me file for both my small businesses-real estate and photography, and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend him!

This has now been magnified into a situation where we've been threatened by penalties from the IRS/SSA. We should have received a refund on Q1 2021 and as a result of the mistake, the IRS believes we owe. Over six months ago, I was promised a refund from Blankenship for the work related to this issue. Still to this day, after multiple requests and reminders, Blankenship has not issued this refund. When I ask, they reply "I'm sorry the refund has not processed." I've waited long enough to make this review and cannot wait any longer. This is without question the most unprofessional experience and worst service I've ever received from any lawyer, accountant, etc. in my life.

Since moving to Nashville in 2016, I've engaged with two other accounting firms to help with my taxes and found both to be sub-par, either in their communication or overall level of service (long story short, you don't want an email to your accountant that just reads "help?" to go unanswered after you've received a letter from the IRS...). This tax season I was, obviously, in the market for a new CPA and was impressed by Byron's reviews. Within the first appointment, I felt much more comfortable than I had with in my prior accountant interactions. He took the time to talk through and understand the nuances of my situation, gave me an accurate estimate of both timing and pricing, and stayed in a good level of communication with me during the whole process. I'll definitely be back next year and would wholeheartedly recommend Byron to others. read more

I have always done taxes myself. However, my taxes got fairly complicated this year compare to last, since the baby came into the picture; wife started working; bought and rent out a house. Byron greeted me with a smile. After analyzed my last 2 years return and this year information, he ask for a couple more information regarding my wife's works. He also gave me some tips for how to set up to get the most return for my business. Within 2 days i was told my taxes was ready to be picked up and i will be able to get back way more than the initial prediction! The whole experience was great. read more

My tax situation was quite complicated and I had to address inquiries from the IRS. It was such a relief to hand things over to Byron and his team to get the tax resolution I needed. Trying to deal with the IRS myself was a nightmare - I couldn't even get past the identity confirmation questions on the phone and that was after I waited on hold for an average of 25 minutes on multiple tries.
