It's a family owned business with many products coming from kern family farm. I also love that they host other small and local products. And if you ask they'll tell you about them in an intimate way that I really appreciate. I like trying new things and also have my favorites. Always recommending this spot. Great job kern family. They also have pretty good variety of items considering it's a small store. The fresh juice was good, the fig smoothie is a must. The blueberries from their farm almost made me cry. This store is by far the best organic market in the area. They stock organic produce from several local farmers, so the selection changes each season. They also have any impressive selection of spices, teas and ice cream. There will also be a smoothie bar opening soon. I love their fresh juices! But I believe the market is way too pricey and this is why I'm only giving them 3 stars because a lot of the organic/natural brands they sell I know I can purchase elsewhere for a lot less of the price they have them marked. I understand organic/natural stores but don't rip off the customers who support this movement. Just because it's the only place in town doesn't mean you can over charge people. But I'm happy to see business starting up in a hidden town like North Fork. I love this small town! read more

I'm really, really happy this store exists. I believe in what they do so much and am happy to see people making it happen. My biggest complaint is with how high their prices are and of their customer service. I know they are a small farm and have to pay the bills, so I don't mind so much. But it isn't cheap, that's for sure. I've been in a few times, and there's only ever, at most, one other person in the store. I am never greeted, I'm never offered any help, nothin. I think that's a little weak for any store, especially such a small, kind of specialized one. Each time I check out, I'm asked if I belong to the co-op, and when I decline no further information is offered? Just seems kind of strange for a.. ya know.. business.. to not push their membership. One that I actually would be interested in, if maybe their employee would be. Just a thought. The Gnarly Carrot is pretty far out of the way for me, but I will still continue to make the trip. read more

A great organic market in a wonderful small town. Worth a side trip on your way to Yosemite. I stocked up on some delicious dried plums from a local farm and nuts to make some killer trail snacks. You just can't find quality local organic produce anywhere else in the area. You get to meet your farmer and support the locals who grow our food! read more

I LOVE this place. I am so impressed by their selection as well as the layout and the design of the store. It is incredibly well kept and pleasant. Their all fruit smoothies are AMAZING! We tried a mixed berry smoothie as well as the perssimple (apple and persimmon) smoothie and our already high expectations were exceeded. They have a great selection of handcrafted goods, soaps, lotions, hats, teas, jams and jellies, as well as a shockingly well stocked spice section. The store is just fun and I was impressed that every person I took loved it and continued to talk about how cool it was the entire way home. It's also more well priced than I was expecting. I feel the cost of buying items here is comparable to buying other places in Fresno, once you factor in gas, mileage, time and convenience. To me, the price difference isn't super noticeable and is absolutely worth the convenience, quality and experience offered by this store. If you're in North Fork or close by it's a great place to stop! read more
