Short but simple review since my order was literally just basic nachos and cheese. I've seen them posted on Saturdays when a bunch of food trucks gather to sell food right where the intersection is. They stayed open a little later to serve last minute customers. I liked the tortilla chips they used and they gave the right amount of cheese and jalapeños. I think nachos is their specialty but they do serve tacos as stated on their truck. The cheese definitely gets cold if you don't scarf it down fast enough. I am a fan of nachos in general, and I am huge fan of the nacho combinations Gnarly Nacho's offer, including the ability to modify any of their signature offerings or being able to create your own. I choose the regular size classic with regular tortilla chips and added a few items such as bacon, cilantro, onions, grated Mexican cheese, and guacamole, in addition to the classic nacho sauce and sprinkling of Colby shredded cheese for $8. You can get a very large size for sharing for $12. As you can see, the nachos not only looked terrific but they also tasted fantastic. The combination of the tasty cheese sauce and the shredded cheese was a great idea. The bacon pieces were not your typical bacon bits, no these were actually cooked chopped bacon portions that tasted great. The guacamole was creamy and well seasoned, the cilantro and onions freshly chopped, and the grated Mexican cheese added a nice saltiness to the nachos. I did feel they went a little overboard on the sour cream. In hindsight, I would of like to have seen more shredded cheese than sour cream. Yes, they use ingredients that you can find at a typical grocery store, but it's all about the experience and having someone serving you up a tasty plate of nachos while you enjoy a cold beer at a local brewery. read more

Delicious food with friendly service and great communication. My family of four ordered the smaller nacho kit, adding on an extra 1lb of meat and an extra side of nacho cheese, it was plenty of food for two meals for our family! Everything arrived packaged beautifully, it was warm and ready to eat, delivery was seamless and safely done respecting social distancing. Holy hell this food was bad. We picked up some tacos and they were quite honestly the worst tacos we've ever purchased. They charge $11 for 3 tacos and charged $2 extra for the fake guacamole they sell at Costco by the gallon and an extra $0.50 for sour cream. Cheap cheese, iceberg lettuce and subpar meat. I almost just tossed them but I was hungry so I forced myself to eat them. The guy who worked there was nice, but the food was so low effort it was jarring. Had them out at our office today for a late cinco de mayo celebration. I enjoyed every bite of the nachos! I ended up having the "California Burrito Nacho", very generous on the guacamole. Service was friendly and the wait was not beyond what we were told. The food is good, some of their items are pretty unique. I got Carneasada tacos at this food truck. They took over 10 minutes to come out and they were very cold. The corn tortilla was straight out of the bag - no toasting at all. The cheese and onions were refrigerator cold. Lettuce was too, but I expected that. The meat was room temp, extremely dry, and had no flavor. It was like it had been warmed up before I even ordered it, but still took 10+ minutes to be delivered to me. I ate one taco, pulling off chewy tortilla bits, and I shouldn't have kept going but I paid $8. It was so bland and dry, I added the last of their hot sauce thinking that might help (there was no salsa and only a few drops if hot sauce left) and tried another taco. I couldn't finish it. I did tell them that the meat was cold so they could know for the next customer. I thought maybe it was a symptom of the cooler weather and they just didn't know it wasn't holding heat long enough to get to the customers hot? They were very gracious and offered to remake them but frankly they just weren't good and I had used up all the hot sauce, and I really didn't want to say that the tacos were dry and tasteless in front of everyone else because their nachos and tater tots looked a lot better. This place is eh. Nacho cheese, nasty soft/grounded carne asada, sub-par menu/pricing details, and expensive. They're going to have a hard time competing in the SD market where good Mexican restaurants are on nearly ever corner. I paid ~$20 on a large plate of curly fries California burttio plate and a 20oz diet coke. Also, the plates would be alot better with some quality salsa instead of only offering ketchup, table hot sauces, and jalapeños. Reminds me of little league food. The best nachos to ever exist. Sammy and Adam, in addition to being culinary geniuses, are both lovely people and super friendly. If you have an idea for some masterful creation, chances are they will indulge and you will end up with a heaping pile of cheese and chips that tastes better than you could ever imagine (on a side note, ask for the mUH cHUMbY, it's the best they have. Not on the menu, but they'll know what you want if you ask). Look for them on instagram (gnarlynachos) as well if you want other amazing pictures and a schedule of which brewery or other local they'll be at for the day. These guys were at the Santee 4th of July celebration. Asked for Basic Nachos with tots and hot cheetos. Really good. Ya some of their stuff may come prepackaged, but the chips for example are the restaurant style, and not the crappy kind you find at a ball park. The guac was fresh, the jalpenos were fresh and not sour, tots were crispy. The chips too stayed crispy. The wait was pretty long, but in all fairness they were busy, and the guys were doing their job - not standing around. Plus you could see that there was a wait, so if you are the type who complains, then it's your fault. And really, even though it felt like a half hour, the clock showed 12 minutes.
