This deli is small but we wanted to try it out. So a we went, there is a small patio and a small indoor seating. We placed our order and got our food choices. It is clean and there are many things to try. The attendant was friendly and helpful and we not only enjoyed the affordable menu but the food was great. I am pleased to have found this place close to my daughters home.

My dad was craving a reuben sandwich, on a sidequest we came across Sunrise Deli. My dad ordered their Brooklyn Reuben with macaroni salad, my spouse ordered the same, and I went with half sandwich & soup, chicken salad on sourdough and chicken tortilla soup. Everything from the service to the ambiance but specifically the food, were perfection! We are so happy to have come across Sunrise Deli, 10/10 highly recommend!

Great customer service! Took a minute to get our food but we ordered a good amount and you could hear them in the kitchen making it fresh! Will be back!!

Husband ordered the beef bbq sandwich and my plate was the Philly cheese steak sandwich. I recommend both!

The food was hot and delicious. They serve a generous side of French fries snd the ranch dressing is absolutely delicious. Both of our meals were $30. The music they played was okay. The music playing in the kitchen was better than what we heard. The service was good. Definitely coming back!

Rainy day in SD, this spot is perfect for a bowl of chicken tortilla soup! I was taken aback at how delicious this meal was. The staff was so friendly and the inside is so cute, I absolutely recommend this spot for anyone looking for a good lunch spot. I got the medium and it was a great price and huge serving! I will absolutely be back. Thank you Fernanda and Fernando!

My bf got the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and fries. Usually our favorite place to order takeout. Ordering over the phone was easy and the staff was very friendly and aware we wanted extra crispy fries. She said it would be ready 20 minutes and my bf got there in 15 minutes. Another 15 minutes went by, total wait 30 minutes, before receiving order. The plates look good but the fries were not crispy, very soggy until I crisped it up at home before eating. The pastrami sandwich looked delicious and was excited to dip it! Nope , the dip was too salty! Unfortunately, both of our meals were super salty. Total disappointment! Dipping the fries in ranch, we were able eat a few. But could not fix the salty pastrami. To be fair, this is the first time from our many visits that we disliked our meal from Sunrise Deli.

The service here is always very friendly and helpful! I recently tried the blt with extra bacon and a side of Mac n cheese. The sandwich was toasted to perfection, crunchy fresh lettuce and juicy tomatoes :) the Mac n cheese was super duper cheesy but kind of plain-tasting. Not my fav Mac n cheese but to each his/her own! The food options here are amazing , enjoy

    Disgusting service and food

I couldn't be more disappointed as to how bad this place has become it used to be the best place to get a sandwich and soup in San Diego. Service was horrible, food was disgusting, and I had to ask 3 times if they put my extra pickles. I ordered 3 different meals and was charged separately for my fries , food, and drink instead of being charged for a combo. When asked the cashier she replied with a smart comment like it was my problem for noticing that I was being charged. The cherry on top of it all is i didn't get a single pickle in any of my meals even tho I asked, paid for, and reasked as I need pickles to eat with my sandwich.

I can't remember a single thing I've eaten at Sunrise Deli. I dined at Sunrise a few times a year, every year, from 2011 to 2019 - call it twenty meals of my own plus samples of whatever my wife ordered - and still, I'm drawing a blank. Had I tried anything that knocked my socks off or that was disgusting, such meals would have stuck in my mind. Did I have breakfast? A sandwich? Some sort of plate lunch? No se, and that says a lot about the place. But wait, let me check my photos. OK, according to my files, one time, I had some sort of cheeseburger and some fries at Sunrise Deli and... nope, even though I'm looking at the picture, I don't remember eating it. This is pointless. All I can tell you is that in my experience, if you eat at Sunrise Deli, you won't have a memorably good experience, but it won't be notably bad, and I guess that's not nothing.

I've lived down the street for years but never tried this place. I was running errands on the same street so, when I got hungry I decided to try something new. Very nice people working here. I ordered pancakes, eggs and bacon. The pancakes looked really pretty but lacked flavor and were dry. The syrup wasn't very good either. I don't know what brand they use but I didn't like it. The bacon didn't look or taste fresh. Bacon wasn't bad (it rarely ever is IMO) but I'm thinking maybe reheated from the previous day. The eggs needed seasoning. I'm not surprised though because many places don't season the eggs. I'm glad I tried it out but sunrise didn't wow me to go back for anything different. I do love the yellow interior! It's very inviting and felt like a happy place. I also love the large menu display. I could see it without my glasses!

This might honestly be my favorite meal. Even if it's quite a drive from San Diego, it was well worth it in my opinion. The Güd Burger completely lived up to the hype. The double Wagyu patties were juicy and full of flavor, the cheese was perfectly melty, and the sweet chili aioli brought everything together. I wasn't sure what to expect from the ube brioche bun, but it added just a hint of sweetness that somehow made the whole burger even better. Nothing overpowered anything else. It all just worked together. The Kare Kare bowl was generous in the Kare Kare, which I appreciated. The physical bowl felt too small compared to the amount they gave us! I'm glad I was sharing this with someone else because I was already full halfway through the bowl. We had to order the ube churros as well...don't skip this! The dipping sauce it came with was so good. I kept dipping my churro into it too because it was that good. The churro was crunchy without being dry. This whole meal was one of those meals where you don't want it to end. It was my first time here and we waited 45 minutes for our food to be ready because of how busy it was. Some people ordered ahead of time so they skipped the wait altogether. The restaurant itself is quite small but we were lucky enough to snag a seat after rush hour. There are less than 10 tables for eating in. Restaurants like this are worth supporting because you know it's a small business and the food tastes like it's made out of love! Already planning my next visit.

Today, I went hoping they'd be open. I arrived around 11:05am and surprisingly they were open. I walked in and looked at their overhead menu on the wall and practically their entire menu had masking taste indicating the item or items were "sold out". This was at opening! Something tells me the "sold out" masking tape had been there for quite a while. I left once again highly disappointed. Maybe down the road I'll give them another shot and revise this 1 star rating. They need to fix their business model ‍

TL,DR: Outstanding food, priced right, great service and great atmosphere…read more I had driven past this place a few times and the name always cracks me up, reminds me of Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber. My wife tricked me into going with her to Walmart to pick up some shit, so I got to pick the spot for lunch and this is what I picked. Got there about 2 PM on Good Friday and there were a few people there but nothing crazy. Got seated right away and ordered drinks, a Pacifico for me, Sprite for the wifey - got them right away. For food, I got a BBQ bacon cheeseburger with tots, wifey got a regular bacon cheeseburger with everything plus fries, and I was curious so I also got the $10 chocolate (fudge) shake. Shake was delivered first. Expectations were high, and I was not disappointed. The shake was served in the metal tin, made with loads of real ice cream, whipped cream, fudge, drizzle of chocolate syrup, and chocolate sprinkles. Honestly not sure what I was thinking when mixing beer with shake, in hindsight I wouldn't do that again... but it was one of the best shakes I've had in a long while. Burgers came out shortly afterwards. Wifey's was cooked perfectly medium, which is an unusual thing for most burger places these days; most of the time when I order a burger medium, it comes out medium well or well done. These were both perfectly medium. Both burgers came out with a generous amount of potato products, more than either of us could hope to stuff down our gullets in one sitting. The food was outstanding. The service was great. The music was too loud for the wife but it was the kind of music that is supposed to be played loud so no points off for that from me. A nice vibe overall. I'll definitely be back.

Coming back last night and seeing all the changes was pretty neat! The owner, Sarah, came out to greet us and personally took care of us, which made the experience feel even more special. I ordered the single burger, and my buddy went with the sliders. Both were solid not dry at all, and you could really taste the great quality of the meat. Sarah shared with us that she and her husband source their beef directly from Monterrey, Mexico, just three hours from the Texas border (you can even fly straight there from the TJ airport!). The meat is grass-fed and hormone-free, and it definitely shows in the flavor and juiciness of the patties. My single burger was juicy and packed with flavor, and the truffle fries were amazing crispy, savory, and perfectly seasoned. It's located in City Heights, which isn't an area I drive through very often, but I was craving a good burger and finally decided it was time to check this place out. I stopped by for a late lunch on Saturday, and there were only a few people inside. The place has plenty of seating at the bar along with a few tables and a very casual, laid-back vibe. I ordered the Salute without bacon. I had read that they cook their fries in 100% beef tallow, and after seeing so many reviews rave about the rosemary fries, I definitely had to try them. They did not disappoint! They were super crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and the combination of sea salt and rosemary was absolutely delicious. Honestly, the fries alone are worth coming back for. The burger was also cooked perfectly medium, just as I ordered, and was incredibly juicy. I did ask about the beef since I originally came here because of the ranch I knew they had sourced from. They told me they now use meat from a different ranch, but it's still pasture-raised, grass-fed beef. You could definitely taste the quality. The portion was generous, and I thought the price was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. They also feature different burger specials/flavors each month, which gives me another reason to come back. If I'm craving a really good burger and crispy fries, I would definitely make the trip over here again.

A dear friend recommended this spot, and as the burger enthusiast I am, I had to try it. Key & Cleaver sits on a busy corner in City Heights, and parking nearby was tough -- I ordered pickup, but honestly wouldn't do that again because driving around hunting for a spot took forever. The burgers were great and the fries were solid. The ranch was creamy and delicious. One annoying thing: the online menu doesn't specify that burgers come with fries, and since a lot of good burger places do them à la carte, we ordered two extra sides unnecessarily. It made the meal pricier than it needed to be, and I wish the online menu clarified that since you can't ask anyone when ordering to‑go. They also offer a great burger‑drink‑fries lunch special, but it's only for indoor dining -- bummer for takeout. I wouldn't order to‑go again, but I would come back for that lunch special.
