Incredibly overpriced products. I visited this store post-quarantine and had a nice conversation with the store owner about being a small business owner and how he appreciated that I was buying local and helping him stay afloat. I can honestly say it's what drove me to go back and I didn't mind paying a few dollars more. My return visit was not so pleasant. This time, the product that was a few dollars more was now $20 more. This product on the GNC website is listed as $39.99 and is often BOGO, so essentially, I could have purchased two for this price. I was not offered a receipt or a total but I noticed it on my bank statement and called GNC for a copy of the receipt. As I said, I don't mind paying a little extra to support local business but this is blatant over charging of customers and it appears I am not alone. read more

If I could give a negative rating I would! Do NOT shop here!!! The owner is a crook! I was recently overcharged $35!! When I realized the huge price discrepancy, I went back into the store to point out the online pricing vs the receipt to see if there was an error (the online prices are written on the receipt, in photo, below) and he told me there wasn't. He stated that he owns the store & can charge whatever he wants!! I am pretty sure this is against advertising & retail pricing laws in Massachusetts. I went to the store and asked if he had L-glutamine 1500 and he said he Did!! i said you have small bottle? he said only big one, i went to see and he had a small bottle right next to it (properformance L-glutamine 1500) and the price was like 59$ i asked him ,( i was very surprised with the price being so much for a small bottle) is it really 59$ for this small bottle, he said yes. I asked if i could take a picture, he said it was find. so i took the picture and went online , the price in a GNC store online is 9.99$ so i take a screen shot and go back and told him, it says here this bottle is 9.99$ and he said No! i will give it to you for 19.99$ so i just did not say anything else and i left. I'm heart broken Terry is gone and so is GNC. Always a warm greeting and friendly service. If Terry didn't have it he would order it just for me. Both my husband and myself were treated well at all times. I'm shocked and surprised about the horrible reviews left on Yelp! I guess we believe we can give attitude to those in the sales and service industry but freak out when they've finally had enough of us! We get what we give, folks. Do not go to this location, the usual middle aged man with grey hair that is at the register is the most miserable person on the planet, and I used to work in retail so I get it isn't the most exciting job but this guy will sigh out loud as if he can't deal with being inconvenienced that a customer decided to come in. He has zero people skills and even had a woman make the same comment as well as she walked by me after she asked a question and decided to leave. He is rude if you ask him anything and will stare at you the entire time while you are in there almost to a point where you feel uncomfortable and just want to leave before buying anything. The guy is so rude and unprofessional and not to mention his prices are INSANE compared to other GNC locations/online. I purchased something that I no longer needed so was looking to return it. I tried calling the store for 3 days to confirm he'd take it back before driving there, never did he answer the phone. I called the Burlington location to see their policy if it was similar. They said they'd return it but at their pice which was $30 cheaper. I ended up going to North Reading to see if he'd take it back at his price and he was so rude, didn't even let me finish my sentence. Not to mention too during the pandemic NOT wearing a mask. I was in last week for a cleansing item. Terry grabbed one off shelf telling me it was the best, worked fast & was what i needed. He didnt discuss price & he brought to register. The 1 bottle of 1X cleanser came to $69.99. I was very surprised but paid as I figured it was prob a really good one & i know nothing about this stuff (i trusted him). He told me the item was non-refundable several times. I said, " why would I want to return it? Its a 1X use item & you said it works great, im sure it will do the job". I guess the reason he kept saying it was non-returnable is b/c he figured i might cross check price at home. Well my hubby did & we were shocked, Could find the SAME product on line at Walmart/Vitacost for $19-$28 & other GNCs listed online charged $39.99. I was ripped off big time. Don't go here. Went in to check the protein bar selection (which was very, very, limited). The middle-aged guy working didn't greet me or anything. After I found one I wanted I went up to the counter to purchase it and he flat out said "I can't charge for $3.99, it's gotta be 10 or higher" in the most rude way. So I said I was all set and looked around quickly to see if that was posted anywhere (it wasn't). While I was still standing there at the counter he grabbed the bar, came around the counter and went to put it back on the shelf - while I was still exiting the store. I've been buying products from this GNC for a couple years and Ive had nothing but good experiences. Terry is knowledgeable and points me in the right direction and always has deals going on, like buy one, get one 50%off. This isn't even the closest GNC to my house, but I drive to this one each time I want to get GNC high quality products. As a full blown gym rat, I recommend getting your supplements here, for sure. read more

I have never written a bad review in my life but I've deemed my past experience at the GNC in North Reading worthy of my complaints and dissatisfaction. I purchased pre workout and protein powder last week here and was expecting to pay a decent amount given that these products tend to be expensive. When Terry rung me up he did not list any prices until I put my card in the chip reader and saw the total. $134. I was concerned it was that much and did research when I got home. Come to find out he overcharged me by 100% on the protein powder and also charged me $10 more than the price we discussed on the pre workout. I understand some businesses charge a little bit more, but DOUBLE? Come on. I went back today and returned my protein powder for full price and got the $10 difference that I should have in the first place. Thankfully he had to abide by GNC's return policy. Will not be going here ever again. I recommend buying everything through qualified sellers on Amazon. read more

I pulled up the exact same product on the GNC website for $8.99, and the guy was gruff and said he wouldn't match it. Worst GNC Store I've ever been to by far. Shopped at GNC for years now and on the way home from work I passed the one in North Reading and figured it was like any other GNC but I was very mistaken. Terry, the man who helped me charged $59.99 for $34.99 bottle of protein powder and thought throwing in the shaker I wanted for $10 would fix it and make it ok. When I got got back to my house I noticed he charged me way over the normal price. I then went back to return it and left the shaker at home and was forced to pay the $10 for the shaker and got horrible attitude with it. I said I wanted to return it because it was way over priced and he got attitude right off the bat when he saw I was back. Then proceed to yell in my face when I was returning what I bought and was yelling at me about how he had to pay rent for the building. Terry is hurting the GNC brand for the way he treats his customers since I saw he had a lot of reviews on how bad his customer service was. I will NEVER shop at this GNC again. read more
