It took…read moreseveral weeks to get used to the routine, but she loves it and looks forward to class every week. She has grown so much in her confidence and encouraging the others in class. The class routine is pretty consistent, but the type of music changes every several weeks. Currently, they're doing a world music series. Previously, it was jazz, for example. They sing a welcome song, learn solfège and rhythm patterns, and sing a song with egg shakers to practice rhythm. After they have an instrument of the day (drums, voice, guitar, bells, etc) followed by open instrument play/ exploration. Then, out come the scarves for dancing at various speeds or pretending to be different animals to the music. To wrap up, they sing a lullaby to little stuffies to calm down before singing the goodbye song. It's organized chaos, and it's awesome!

I started 30 min lessons weekly in Feb 2020. Thanks to COVID19 my lessons are now virtual through Zoom - and may remain that way for some time. Cost - I like that my rate is monthly ($138/month) and I have flexibility on their app to adjust my lesson as needed, to cancel or even book a makeup before/after my current sessions so I could take 1 hour total. For the time I get, I feel its a good price. Performance opportunity - back in June there was even a Zoom student recital, where I performed a song I was working on. It was all other adult students (and not children- but they have recitals for them as all) and included a variety of disciplines like Piano, Voice, and Guitar so made for a really nice concert. I hear more opportunities like this may arise and has been really fun to invite friends/family from afar into my voice concert because it's virtual and not in person. As an adult student, Regan Tackett has been incredible and I couldn't recommend her more. Not just for the motivation but for really working with me and pushing me vocally to grow. She has also offered great advice on other songs she thinks might fit my range. When I finally get my kids involved they will go to her as well. Can't recommend her more.

This is the second year we've sent my son to one of the summer camps at Math Plus. Last year he did…read morea half-day programming camp, and this year he went for a full-day Lego robotics camp. Both experiences were very positive - he came home full of excitement about what he'd done at camp and inspired to continue working on programming at home. (To be honest, he was already pretty excited about building Legos at home, but the robotics part has given him a new focus.) The teachers are clearly experienced at dealing with kids and are actually full-time teachers during the school year, which was a huge plus for me. I was concerned that the people running the camp might just be college kids on break, but this was clearly not the case.

My first grade son attends class here and he loves everything about it. His teachers are…read moreenthusiastic and the other kids are just as happy to be there. It's okay for him to be excited about math and learning whereas at school he sometimes feels singled out for liking math. The homework is never too challenging and there is plenty of time to complete it before the next week. His class size is only 7 or 8, including him, and he receives plenty of one-on-one attention. As a parent, I appreciate that I don't have to continually sign him up for a new term. Once you sign up for a class, it's an ongoing schedule of classes, that continue through the summer. I'm looking forward to him having interactions with a classroom setting and mathematics classwork during the break. I think having this experience will allow him to stay sharp with his skills. It is pricey, but I believe well worth it. It's a skill that will much more needed throughout his life than knowing how to throw a baseball.
