This place is a scam. It is NOT sufficiently climate controlled for electronics as advertised. It's been 80 degrees in my unit and over 50% humidity. Absolutely DO NOT store your stuff here. Not only did they raise rent by more than double the following month (once I was out of town and I tried to pre pay for 3 months but they would not), but my unit was broken into and they do not care. They keep the gate open, no one is there, and you end up paying over $100/month to get your stuff stolen and damaged. You then spend hours dealing with police and insurance companies trying to get something back for what you lost, but I mine as well have put my stuff out on the front lawn than pay them. The building is clean and has air conditioning. The do not have good customer service. They doubled the rate "DOUBLED" with little notice. I went today to clear out my storage and was able to get a refund on the upcoming month's rent. That was a plus because I never sign the new agreement that states you must give 30 day notice to vacate. I cancelled it on the phone but the person that answered the phone had a heavy Indian accent so guessing outsourcing to India? He did not understand my request. Gostoreit was highly problematic before it was flooded out and destroyed by the French Broad River during Hurricane Helene. Avoid this company. 1) Under normal conditions-they raise the rent, frequently, throughout the year. 2) It is freezing cold in the winter. Hot in the summer. The manager stated that "Corporate forced (him) to change the temperature a few degrees so they could save money" 3) They got rid of the office employees earlier this year and went fully online. Without warning-they locked all the toilets up. People who spend hours moving in and out-are locked into the location because they could not easily secure their belongings mid move-had no where to go to the bathroom. People with disabilities were especially violated by this choice. Within a few weeks-the building smelled like a urinal. Again, "corporate" choice. 4) What they are dragging the tenants through at the 84 Riverside Drive address is a lesson for years to come in what not to do in a crises. a) The first floor was completely flooded out. We were informed we could not enter the building because there was a snake infestation. The company put a fence around the location and hired armed guards. What they didn't do was communicate with us what was going on. What they did do was continue to charge everyone, full price-which had also automatically gone up again recently. The customer service was hostile towards customers who called in to get updates. The only thing they said was "there's a snake infestation in the building" There were no emails from the company. Even the guys working at location-were clear they had never seen a company just bury their head in the sand and refuse to communicate with their customers as Gostoreit had done. b) There was no plan to help people get their medical devices on the second and third floors. The security guards would call in their supervisors if you arrived to try to get anything medical. The answer was always "no". Yet, somehow, Gostoreit continued to charge everyone. Full price. The whole time. c) By refusing to work with people on the second and third floors-we ended up having many of our things destroyed as well-due to the length of time it was exposed to the poisoned trash on the first level. d) Instead of making it easy to get out of the property-because clearly it's over, they are making it more difficult by pretending nothing is wrong. Who in their right mind, in the next few months, would rent in a building that was destroyed in a flood? Yet, they continue to charge and send menacing emails that if we are late with payments we will have problems. IT IS OVER. The building has no front door on it. It has a flimsy plywood system with gapes in it. The elevators are blown out and in the well. That means the people who need to move their furniture out-have to abandon it there. So-we'll get the line that if it has a hard surface-it can be cleaned-and it's not damaged beyond repair by the mold spores. The problem is it's stuck in there. We can not remove our large items. So they are being abandoned-throughout the building. It's like having what's left of your possessions held captive. You can't get it out-because of the damage-and you have to pay full price...even though the business can not deliver what they are contracted for. They will send thinly veiled threatening letters that something might happen to your stuff if you are late with payment. There is a shocking audacity to that. MBA programs should reach out to the customers here for first hand accounts of what we are dealing with. It's a master class in all the wrong PR decisions could make in a crises. There are no lights. People were stumbling around in the wet muck and stench-in the dark-in the early days of this. Now there are some make shift contractor lights strung up-that are run off a generator. The business can not function in normal hours-so it's scaled back to 9-5. e) There is no sufficient way to move large items out of there now. And they are aggressively frightening the people who call in to see what can be done. There is no one there to help. In general this is an unsafe environment-with garbage and large items everywhere-while the company keeps burying their heads and pretending it's all normal. The mold spores settled in by the time we were able to access the building. So did the gaslighting from the company. Their behaviour was penny pinching and sleazy before this flood raged through the building. This company has done nothing to effectively communicate with its customers after the flood. Except charge full price. Someone from the corporate division will post a pleasant response to this review-stating I should reach out to them. Do not be charmed by that. This company has made a bad situation even more devastating. The only time they show decency is when a post like this surfaces. Nothing good will come of doing business with these people. Worst storage experience ever!! The Go Store It, Riverside Drive is awful! They clearly do not care about their tenants. After Hurricane Helene, we could not access the building for over a month (which was understandable), BUT very little communication and no break on the rent. I had to repeatedly call and email to find out if my things even survived the flooding. Now, it is almost 3 months later, the building still has no power which means no heat, so no climate control, no elevator, and no light in the units...yet NO reduction in rent for any of this time. I was basically told today, if I'm not happy about it, I can move. Well that is easier said than done with the current conditions! I've been unhappy with this place for quite awhile because they get you in and then constantly raise your rent. This just tops it off. unfortunately i have to update my review. as another reviewer has stated - they lock you in and then increase the monthly fees- for me it was increased 5 months later. i was there for 1 1/2 years and my fee went up twice. also interestingly i look on the site now that i am done being there and my unit is being advertised for a whole $100 less than i was paying at the end! so this is what they do- they offer you cheap rates up front and then once you are moved in they increase it by a lot. i was paying over $100 more than the advertised price by the time i moved out. also they have now transitioned to electronic everything- so that means THERE IS NO REAL PERSON AT THE PROPERTY. this is ridiculous- i will never use them again. very sneaky- raise rates and then fire the paid in person help and just have phone operators deal with things. this is not safe either as i had someone try to (unsuccessfully) break into my unit- i had proof it happened and they just said well they did not get in and there was no follow up. i will never use go store it again. it has become clear they are interested in money and not interested in in taking care of customers to ensure they are happy, their things are safe or anything else regarding customer care. read more

I've had a storage unit here for over a year now - I'm an artist and a busy body, so have a lot of projects and stop in regularly. Logan who was previously man-ing the front desk is a super nice guy, and will help with whatever you need. Haven't seen you in a while man, did you like the book?! Access hrs are from 6 a.m - 10pm everyday, which is awesome for any busy schedules. Facility and bathroom is always clean. One qualm I have, and why I have a 4 star rating instead of 5, is that they have outlets but they are covered with an armored plate and brandished with a lock- this happened a few months ago. I am writing to make sure that whom ever is running this facility is surely lacking in that capability and needs to put some focus on this! After the hurricane hit-the building was flooded-I escaped damage being that my unit was on the third floor. I assumed my things would remain safe. I realized some time later when I was trying to access something that the situation had impacted me as well because there was no electricity in the entire building. No elevator access. My unit was supposed to be temperature controlled , which I pay extra for. I was told that the elevator (electricity) should be back in April. I am moving. I contacted Habitat to donate some appliances from my unit. Two guys and a guy working for Go Store it (who initially said he wasn't supposed to help with heavy stuff) managed to get them down several steel steps and onto their truck. There was another guy (or 2 depending on the day) made sure that although I was the ONLY car in the parking lot on day one-move to a designated parking space and on day 2-to park along the curb) as if it was important to do this on a Sunday afternoon with no one there? I was given 5.00 off for all of this inconvenience. This facility is useless and should be sold as it has a very negative impact on the area. I am a widow, a senior and am confused as to why they would think it is okay to do this to people? read more

BEWARE future renters! We rented a 5 X 10 unit three months ago here. We just received an email yesterday that they will be increasing our rent OVER 50%! It seems to be a scam to make sure you are moved in and to do something like this after such a short period of time.
