When one of my co-workers mentioned that a new place opened with a combination of Mongolian BBQ and hot pot, we knew we were going. We have come here two times. Each time, the food was amazing. The Mongolian BBQ turnover is pretty fast. There are also self-served sauces you can use for both the BBQ and hot pot sides. Of note, there are snow crab legs here, though at an extra price. The caveat occurred the second time we came. We had ordered a good amount of meats, but the server did not return to our table for another hr. As such, the soup evaporated more than halfway down without new orders. Similar to another review here, it did feel like we were discouraged from ordering more. I do hope this was an off day though would likely not return. read more

Their variety of options in both their hot pot and grill lines is amazing, and I definitely feel like I can keep coming back for more. Their seafood has a lot of variety, I think the most in the Madison area for hot pot. And as a kid who grew up eating Mongolian grills at Chinese buffets, I had to try their grill, also loaded with so many good options, including scallops - my favorite. I think some of the meat quality could be better, but maybe that's a result of having some of it being frozen - usually done to help slice meats easier. I also feel slightly disappointed when, when soup runs low, (both here and elsewhere in Madison) the soup base is refilled with just a generic base, especially when I order a spicy broth. It kind of reduces the flavor a bit with subsequent rounds. There's something for everyone at Gobi and then more - even the pickiest of eaters can find something they want here. Overall an amazing place to go in Madison, and I'd definitely go back. read more

Checked out Gobi for Mongolian grill for lunch during the week. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, with many booths and tables. The Mongolian grill area has a great selection of noodles, rice, veggies and proteins. Everything seemed nice and fresh. I was impressed that tilapia and octopus were options. There's a small list of appetizers to choose from, so we tried veggie spring rolls. They were decent. We both enjoyed our grilled meals very much. The dessert selections were excellent, especially the layered orange dessert. We will be back! read more

But I'm giving 5 stars because this place has some of the best and juiciest watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe I've ever had at an AYCE place. My friends and I were really excited to try this new hotpot spot since there aren't many good ones in the area, so we had high hopes! The place itself is super cute and clean, which we appreciated right away. The prices are also quite reasonable for AYCE. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Even though it's hotpot (where you're cooking your own food), everything came out really slowly. When we were ordering, the waiter actually stopped us and said, "That's enough," and only brought out one small plate of meat... for five people. We were hungry! The whole experience felt like they were discouraging us from ordering more, which was frustrating and kind of awkward. It also took a while for them to come back and take our second round of orders, even when it was obvious we'd finished everything on our table. One of us tried the Mongolian stir fry, and it was disappointing. If you do get it, make sure to load up on sauce, because the noodles soak it all up and it ends up tasting bland. Overall, despite the cute vibes and potential, the service and pacing made the experience less enjoyable. Giving it 3 stars for now, but I might give it another shot. It's nice to see a Mongolian grill open in Madison. I went on a Saturday afternoon. There was a good crowd, but I got a seat right away. $20 for unlimited lunch was a worth deal. You pick egg, protiens, veggies, sauces and carbs and hand over to grill it. Once ready it will be brought to the table. I went for 2 rounds of grill. In table there was a list of appetizers. I went for some of them as well - edamame, fried sesame balls, spring rolls and potstickers. They were all good. Also there were fruits and other dessert items. We were so excited to find a hot pot place near Middleton! Upon arriving all the staff was SO nice and the ambience was very relaxing. The music wasn't too loud (I loved that). We had huge menus with different meats, veg, etc. and we ordered with the waiter. I was so impressed to find out that the mongolian grill is INCLUDED with our hot pot price. ($29.99 for dinner) We didn't try the mongolian grill because we were sooo full. The sauce bar had a nice variety. They have Pepsi products. For my Dr. Pepper people-- SUCH a perfect fountain dr. pepper! My husband and I even enjoyed our ice cream on the way out! Food quality is great and the servers are very helpful and nice. Pictured is the Mongolian grill option. The way this option works is you go down the buffet line and add the base (rice or noodles), vegetables, and meats / tofu you want, then you pick your cooking sauce and seasonings. They cook this for you and deliver it to your table. Additional sauce, desserts (including ice cream), and appetizers are free. They even have shrimp cocktail w/sauce included. The value is great, $20 for the dinner/weekend Mongolian grill option per person and $30 for hot pot. We went there for the hotpot this time and the experience was much better this time. The hotpot was much better than Hotpot 608. Ingredients were fresh, especially the meats. I love the small portions so you get a variety of food without getting too full. Service was excellent. And if you go for hotpot, the Mongolian grill is included in the price. So we got some noodles on the side as well. Also I think it's really smart to have a packet of paper napkins on the hotpot table so we can blow our noses easily when we eat spicy food. read more

went yesterday had a bad experience i understand they do not want to waste food but my son got so sick as we were eating we had to take him to the hospital on our end it seemed like the waiter was upset about us not wanting to finish our food one guy totally understand the situation we were in and was not going to charge us for taking our food to go it wasn't like we didn't want to finish it we had an emergency as we were going to pay the bill the waiter rushed over and told the guy who was checking us out he had to charge us he didn't seem to have any care that we had to run to the hospital he was definitely rude to us as we were eating before the emergency even happened will never go back read more

This was our first visit to Gobi. This was new to us and the staff was extremely helpful through the meal. Everything was spotless. The fresh food selection buffet was clean, fresh and well trimmed. There is a list of appetizers. We had an option of two broths with a large menu of add-ins. The Mongolian grill also had many options. Staff continued to stop in to check. It was very relaxing. Where do I start... this place is fantastic!!! Worth every penny. Of course a hot pot is a hot pot right? I love the items they had. Im getting ahead of myself let me start from the beginning. Upon entry I was greeted by a gentle and was quickly seated. As we were seated another gentleman came right behind him and ask for our drinks. Ask if we ever been before we stated no and he proceeded to break down the hot pot options. The best part of this is he said with your meal the Mongolian grill is included. At first I didn't understand but he explained you take what ever raw food from the buffet and then take it to the grill and they will cook it and it would be served to your table. I was blew away that it offered two ways to eat for such an exceptional price. The waiters were also very attentive everyone who walked by ask if we needed anything.
