All that being said, an opportunity arose when the local Radio Shack was moving to a new location in Detroit and the location was up for lease. We saw this as a sign and realized that it's pretty much now or never. We followed all the rules: We got a reputable real estate agent, we got an architect, we got the funding, and it finally came down to getting the lease signed. I thought to myself, I really need to find someone that knows their stuff and is trust-able. Low and behold I stumbled upon The Flannery Law Firm. Amy, the principle lawyer of the firm is incredible to say the least. Our landlord, who issued us a standard lease gave us some very tough terms on the lease to cope with. It was almost to a point where we wanted to stop the whole operation given the risk we were about to take... and then comes Amy who may as well had warpaint on her face. She completely revised the contract, analysed every single word of the contract and fought tooth and nail to get us the best possible contract we could get! My father, who is critical about everyone and everything (ESPECIALLY LAWYERS), had nothing but praise for her. This does not come easy come easy from him... as I am still waiting to hear something like that for me! (maybe I should yelp a therapist) Bottom line is that we could not be more happy with the deal she negotiated for us. She saved us tens of thousands of dollars right now and hundreds of thousands in the future. So now, our soon-to-be cafe, The Detroit Bubble Tea company in Ferndale, MI will be running smooth and happily thanks to Amy. What is the difference between Amy and the other lawyers that I have dealt with? Amy genuinely cares about our happiness and does not look at us like we are walking dollar signs.
