Even though I am insured, they demanded a payment of $2,500 from me on 1/12/26 and threatened to cancel my surgery that was scheduled for 1/14/26--so I paid it. Then my insurance fully paid my almost 60k surgery. It's now 5/13/26, and I'm receiving collections letters from the other medical providers that assisted with my surgery all because gold coast still hasn't reimbursed my $2,500. My out of pocket max for my insurance is 3k, and im sitting on close to 5k of debt now waiting on this reimbursement. This is absolutely unacceptable. This multimillion dollar company has been collecting interest on my money for 5 months while my credit is getting trashed. I have no idea how this place doesn't have lawsuits. Day of check-in staff was unbelievably rude to just add to the all around horrible experience with them. read more

The surgery went OK, place was like a surgery mill, but as others have written, the billing department is awful. They make you pay a hefty fee upfront, then when the insurance explanation of benefits shows you overpaid, it takes forever to get your money back. In my case, they screwed up the claim and kept sending me bills for $7500 with no itemization, no reflection of what I'd already paid, and nothing about why the fee was so high (but of course threatening to send to collection). It took hours of calls to get them to send a proper claim to the insurance company, and then, after my insurance company processed the claim, showing I'd overpaid by $900, it took many more months and phone calls to get them to refund that. If I hadn't been persistent and threatened to report them to the Attorney General, I don't think I would have ever gotten my money back. If you can go somewhere else for your surgery, I'd recommend that. read more

Unless you want to be lied to and have them try to rip you off financially, go literally anywhere else. I got two procedures at this place. Both times I paid an amount I was told would be the entirety of what I had to pay out of pocket. So of course they now are trying to charge me way, way more than that. The care they provided was good, but they should be put in prison for the financial scam they're running. They have liars who will tell you anything to get you to agree to the procedure. read more

Yes this place is actually in the freakin mall lmfao Ever gone to the mall for surgery? Yeah me too! They validated the parking so it became free parking. The staff was great. Waiting rooms is so tiny but seemed high class LOL There is no private rooms. Everyone is together in pre-op but divided with curtains. This was my second surgery at this facility. The center is wonderful however their billing department is the worst. They promise calls back that never happen. They send you an itemized bill that isn't itemized. Then they throw you into collections. Zero stars because they are a zero. read more

Finance/bookkeeping department is horrible. You are forced to contract payment Plan with credit card on day of surgery. They had not recalculated my payment so I insisted. Subsequent 3rd party payment not properly credited. Spoke to an employee to correct the error. She provided a final due amount then MONTHS later, I start getting bills-oops, that person is no longer employed. Horrible read more

Firstly, the website states all of the doctors that are part owners, so anyone "shocked" to learn that their doctor was an owner clearly didn't do their homework. That seems irresponsible. You're also entitled to physicians notes so not asking for them if there's a question about what was done also seems irresponsible. I've had two procedures there and have had absolutely zero issue. Procedures have been on time, parking for my ride has been validated, the pre-op staff have been kind and reassuring of my anxieties. My doctors both visited before and after surgery. I was NEVER asked for any money on the spot and have had zero problem setting up a payment plan. I did leave one voicemail to set that up but the lady called me back, and called again after I asked an insurance question. The operating rooms are small but the brightest and cleanest I've ever seen, which is something I want for surgery. I highly recommend this facility and the doctors there. I do agree it can be strange to be going through the mall to get there, but it's sort of an adventure that way. Because of a chronic condition I've had several surgeries in the last few years. This is my absolute first choice for a place to have a surgery. read more

I expect I will be hearing about this place on the news some day -- regarding FRAUD. In December, my orthopedic surgeon decided to use this facility to operate on my elbow area. This place is a surgical center - basically operating and recovery rooms, etc. After the insurance paper work had all but settled down (paying my part of the doctor and hospital fees and even the surgical center itself) this place started billing me further for the use of the facility. The bill shows $16K for the hour I was there for the actual procedure but they also have a separate line item for another $8K+ for a procedure I did not even have. Supposedly something noticed only once the first procedure was underway. The bulk of this is covered by insurance but my part would still be large so I am not paying for something that was not even done. First, I confirmed with the surgeon that this procedure was not done. This was verbal and in person but he did act bothered by my "insinuation" and brushed it off as a coding error. Next, I called the phone number on the bill but got routed to voice mail. My calls were never returned but additional bill reminders keep coming. So, I called again and again - it all goes to voice mail that is never returned. I eventually called Blue Cross, my insurer, to report possible FRAUD. Blue Cross took it from there but many weeks later Blue Cross called me to say they are not returning their calls or letters either!!! I fear that when I finally get to talk to someone from there it will be a lawyer or a collection agent. Update: It turns out that my surgeon is a co-owner of this place so now I am even more worried. Now, who do I turn to for "proof" that the procedure wasn't done (even though he told me in his office it wasn't done). Later update: Even though the surgeon did indicate (verbally) that the secondary procedure was NOT done, his post surgery write-up states that it was done. Any further dealing with this was based on "the records" so I had no recourse what ever. One more update: Now that there other reviews I am reminded of the issue I forgot to mention which the other reviewers have mentioned. Shortly before the scheduled surgery I was called and told that there was a substantial amount I needed to pay up front. The reason was nebulous but without it, the surgery could not go ahead. After the fact I now see that in addition to paying my full deductible (and for the procedure I didn't even have) this amounts to additional charges in excess of what insurance will pay them but extracted up front when you are in no position to discuss it. read more

Good but strange experience..... (spoiler alert) I haven't gotten a bill from them yet (a month later) so I've either met my out of pocket for the year already or they're saving it as a surprise when I least expect it. ... I'll update my review if something weird happens. Parking was easy enough with a private garage under the building, even if getting down town is a pain in the butt. It's a strange experience to walk through a shopping mall to get to the elevator for the professional suite. It's even more strange being wheelchaired out through the mall... the otherwise nice nurse wouldn't even let me stop for candy on our way out... lol I'm still not sure if it was nice to not have to go to a hospital, or if it was just weird to get surgery in an office building. .... My surgery was with Dr. Cole, whose team was awesome. The anesthesiologist was great as well. No problems at all with them.... just a strange location in a city that makes getting there a pain in the butt. read more

Surgery was scheduled for Dec 18th, but was cancelled by the doctor. I immediately (same day) asked for a refund, but they are holding my payment for a month while they close their books for the year. Meanwhile, they have used up all my Flexible spending account (which will be a nightmare to clear up) and tied up thousands of dollars of my own money. Do not have surgery here. Your doctor can schedule it at a real hospital like Rush, but they like to use this center because it means more profit for them. And most insurance companies consider a hospital in-network, but this "surgicenter" is out of network (translated: it will cost YOU more money). STAY AWAY!!!! read more

Very unprofessional place. Stay away for your own health's sake. They took shortcuts that cost me. My main doctor was fine but an outside anesthesiologists they contracted in wasn't. Due to legalities I can't say too much but this is not a good place to have surgery. read more

My experience is the same as other two people. My wife had an injury last year and her doctor decided to get the surgery done here. When the doctor office scheduled the surgery they checked with the insurance for approval and called us that we need to pay $1500 upfront and rest insurance will pay. So we payed $1500 upfront. Then on the day of surgery when we went to the center, they said now you need to pay $500 more as the surgricenter fees else they won't do the surgery. Now who the heck in the world, will argue with them on the D day. So we paid extra $500. Everything done, we came back home. 3 months down the line, BILLS CAME IN - BIG BILLS, they sent us $500 for anesthesia, $200 for some stupid stuff, $12,000 for surgericenter. WOWWWW CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT. Then rounds of call, dont know what happened, they agreed to reduce $12,000 to $500. I don't which cell of their brain clicked. Now for past 5 months they have been sending us the bills. And we are trying to call them up to find out what these bills are for, but everytime there is an automated voice which says leave your number and we will call within 24 hrs. And never received a single call from them yet. But before scheduling surgery, every 2 days they will call us and try to convince us about going for surgery with them. Being fed up I paid all the amount today. I won't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I really suggest that no one would ever schedule any procedure at this facility ever. I can not agree more with the previous review that this Center is need to be investigated for FRAUD. I had shoulder surgery at this facility on November 19th 2014. Right before the surgery (which is 5 am in the morning) I was told to pay $671.00 as my liability. I told them that it sounded too high since my deductible was already covered but it did not help and I paid this amount. I was not in a position to start arguing with the lady right before my surgery. After my insurance had processed the charge from this Center ( on December 3rd 2014) it turned out that I should have only paid $121.00 and nothing more. I called the Gold Coast Center at the very same day to inquire about my refund. And I have been talking to them ever since. I left a lot of messages, talk to different associates and had a lot of reasons as to why they can not process my refund. It is almost three month since my surgery and since I started calling them and I have no clarification. I contacted my insurance to report this problem and they called the Center and they provided all info needed that the payment was sent to the Center. It did not help either. At least not yet. Today, February 13th, 2015 and I called them again. I was told the refund is in process but needs to be approved. I could not believe it. Today I contacted my credit card and filed paperwork for FRAUD. Lets hope this would help to get the money back. My advice to all: please think twice before scheduling any procedure with these people. Thank you. read more
