Shrimp and clam cioppino
Alexandra S.

Our group of six ordered several appetizers to share. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp and clam cioppino sans house sausage since I don't eat pork. It was very flavorful! The service was excellent. Our waiter recommended wine pairings and came back often to check on us. My only qualm is it's a bit pricey for what they offer, especially in Pagosa Springs.

If you're in the area this is a MUST! They focus on getting as much ingredients from the local market. For starters, the asparagus and Brussel sprouts were mouthwatering. So delicious. The salad was made with garlic and ranch, they called it something else. It was delicious. I could have just had that. The steak entree was phenomenal. The dessert cookie skillet was superb. Sarah was fantastic, service was great, gave my friend wine samples, offered me tons of non alcoholic drinks and offered to make whatever I wanted. You can sit by the river as well or inside. Dinner is 4-8 only otherwise I believe it's just food trucks.

This was an amazing spot with a great view. The food was unbelievably fresh and all the flavors paired so well with each other. The weather was perfect and sitting close to the water was the perfect setting to such a wholesome meal. This was a birthday dinner for me and I was very impressed!

If you're in Pagosa Springs, you have to stop by here. It's arguably the best food around in an hour radius. Everything was so incredibly flavorful, the drinks were refreshing, and the service was great too.

This place is a true joy and a bit of a surprise for such a small town in such a remote area of Colorado. The riverside setting is beautiful and captures the essence of Pagosa. Their menu also reflects local sourcing and inspiration while boasting a world class wine list and delightful cocktail menu. Our waiter was warm and helpful and well versed in the menu and the wine list. We got the mushroom toast, the asparagus, and the elk schnitzel. All were excellent. Highly recommend as an upscale and elevated dining experience for locals and folks passing through. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Take a walk along the paved path by the river if you have time to kill, too!

There is a reason Meander was rated one of the top 50 restaurants in the States by the New York Times. Food, drinks, service, everything is top notch, second to none. You definitely need a reservation although I was a single and showed up at 5 and was able to get a seat at the bar - but only because there was one opening. If you are in Pagosa Springs (or even within an hour of town) you must go. One thing to consider - the apps / small plates are amazing. So much so that I decided to do 4 apps instead of doing one and a main. The main dish portions are significant. Obviously Highly Recommend

Hi update returned to this spot a year later after giving it 5 stars- while the service and drinks are still amazing- the food has really lost attention to detail and quality. The winter citrus salad was a tangled mess of arugula and almost no citrus. A Neapolitan dessert cake looked like a prepackaged brownie and tasted old and stale. I know business owners have to save money, but I was sad to see such a downturn in quality.

Lovely space and place to have dinner. The parking lot was a little tricky to get into and parking was extremely tight. The building is right off the main roadway and marked well. We did not have a reservation we walked in and were seated promptly. Service with a smile and a lot of hometown hospitality. Right along the river with beautiful views inside and out. The food was as good as it looked. I enjoyed the Coconut rice, vegetables and chicken. My friend enjoyed the steak. Everything arrived hot and fast. We even made room for desert. Dinner for two with drinks was around $200.00 but worth every penny. Really good food. Come here and eat! Great for groups, couples , anyone.

Like probably a lot of people, I ended up here because of the New York Times article and it did not disappoint! While they likely try to accommodate walk-ins, I had a reservation and was seated at the bar, and the bar was packed, so I wouldn't plan on just walking in. I will say that the barstools were a little uncomfortable by the end of the meal. The service was great and I enjoyed the server's cocktail recommendation. My favorite part of the meal was a seasonal salad with plums. I also really enjoyed the Palisade peach crumble for dessert. The presentation on everything was beautiful. I will definitely come back if I am in town.

Crispy fingerling potatoes and brussels sprouts

We celebrated our anniversary at Meander where we were greeted with a complimentary champagne toast. We sat on the beautiful patio and enjoyed the crispy fingerling potatoes and Brussels sprouts to start. My husband ordered the ribeye which was cooked to perfection, and I had the duck breast. Both meals were 10/10. For dessert, we enjoyed the skillet cookie and lemon thyme blueberry cake. Our waiter, Ryan, was so friendly and attentive. The restaurant is definitely a must in Pagosa Springs.

The beer work is shrinking. Some this is the result of over-saturation, and the reality that you…read morecan no longer expect local craft beer to be worth the price. Not so with Riff Raff. Every single beer on tap was quality. Even if the style wasn't your favorite, it was still quality. But for for me, I thought every beer was delicious. To tag along, the was also high quality (that goat burger was amazing). I can't finish this without giving a nod to the Service, our bartender, she was great. Finally, I loved the ambiance. It fit the entire vibe and would recommend this to anyone

Last week, my wife, two friends, and I were vacationing in Pagosa Springs for the first time. We…read moreabsolutely fell in love with the town. The scenery, the weather, and the overall atmosphere were incredible. On July 9th, we decided to have dinner at Riff Raff on the Rio. We were told the wait could be up to an hour, so we told the hostess we'd gladly take the first available table. We ordered drinks at the outdoor bar while we waited, and I want to specifically recognize the bartender, who provided outstanding customer service and made us feel welcome. Ironically, we were called much sooner than expected, but that's when our experience took a disappointing turn. When we returned to the hostess stand, we politely asked if we could be seated outside since the weather was beautiful and the live band was fantastic. I'm not sure what about that request upset the hostess, but her attitude changed immediately. Without saying a word, she turned around and walked away. She never told us to follow her or asked us to wait. We were left standing there wondering what we were supposed to do. A few moments later, we walked outside and saw her throwing menus onto a table. She never acknowledged us or indicated that it was our table. We assumed it was and sat down, but the entire interaction was uncomfortable and unnecessarily rude. My friend even went over to the hostess to apologize in case we had somehow offended her, making it clear that upsetting her was never our intention. She never acknowledged the apology, nor did she apologize for the way she had treated us. We decided to continue with our meal, and before bringing up the issue, I wanted to make sure our food had arrived so it wouldn't affect our server or the kitchen. Afterward, I asked to speak with the manager. Unfortunately, that conversation was just as disappointing. Rather than apologizing for the hostess's behavior, he immediately defended it by saying she was only 16 years old and that it's difficult to find good help. While I understand that young employees are still learning, age is not an excuse for treating customers disrespectfully. More importantly, leadership should model accountability. A simple, sincere apology would have gone a long way. Instead, the manager became defensive. Later, he returned and told me he had comped 50% of my meal which, ironically, was just a kid's grilled cheese and fries. The discount completely missed the point. I wasn't looking for free food, nor did I ask for a discount. I would have gladly paid the full bill. What I wanted was accountability, professionalism, and the basic courtesy of acknowledging that our experience was handled poorly. Everyone has bad days. I truly believe that. But customer service isn't measured when everything goes right; it's measured by how problems are handled when something goes wrong. In this case, both the hostess and the manager failed. It's unfortunate because the location is beautiful, the food was good, and the bartender was excellent. Those positives were completely overshadowed by the lack of professionalism and customer care. We absolutely plan to return to Pagosa Springs because it's a wonderful place. However, we will not be returning to Riff Raff on the Rio, nor could I recommend it based on our experience. I genuinely hope the restaurant takes customer service more seriously in the future, because a beautiful location alone cannot overcome poor hospitality. Please do better, Riff Raff.
