I've heard people say that they never change their menu - well, for one, that's not true - there's always seasonal specials floating around - but two, the core menu doesn't need to change. Perfect steak - aged on the premises. Seriously, this doesn't need mucking around with. They do steak so well they're the standard I gauge EVERY other steak I have by. It IS a little formal - you'll be greeted at the bar, and the expectation is you'll settle down for an aperitif before being seated. There's invariably a little dip to nibble on, too. A small serve of the house speciality meatballs will help you through the choices on the menu - and the BEST steak on the day will be recommended. There are some alternatives for non cow lovers, but really Cork & Cleaver is ALL about the best beef in town. I'm normally a mushroom sauce kind of person, but here, go the bernaise, it is an incredible accompaniement to the perfect steak you'll receive - the plate of sauteed mushrooms as a side is pretty top notch too. Desserts are done with just as much skill as the meat - the personal attention of your waiter or waitress will ensure your dining experience is second to none. As a devout foodie, this is exactly how I think heaven will be.

I have never had steak from here, but I will one day. I have, however, tried the burgers. I found the burgers hard to eat due to the toughness of the bread (I think it was damper), so that ruined my experience a little but it still tasted good. The great thing about Outback Jacks on the Marina is there is a few tables out the back with a great view of the beach. It was peaceful sitting here one week night watching the sun go down as we enjoyed our meals. The staff are also pretty friendly and make you feel welcome.

Time to get my steak on, ooh yeah baby baby hit me one more time. With meat. Hit me with meat. Lots of it, char-grilled and juicier than a Kardashian's bott-bott. Two stars was all I could muster (muster . . . outback . . . yeah? Feeling that? No? Okay, fine, agreed, no more awful puns) and even that was a stretch. They forgot the kangaroo from the tasting platter, the saddle burner prawns 'served in a tent' sounded intriguing but there was no tent nor anything resembling a tent to speak of when it came. Ba-bow. My $35 T-bone that I ordered medium rare came medium well. How can a steakhouse make an error like that? This is your bread and butter. Service . . . meh. Got the feeling they didn't like us very much. And this joint really ain't cheap, so . . . why? Disappointment to the Pepsi Max. Oh and Home & Away was on the TV. Just what I want to see when I'm eating a $35 steak.

Popped in for an unplanned lunch. Partner is a steak fanatic and he pushed the menu aside and went…read moreup to view the cuts in the chiller. He selected a rib eye on the bone, asked the waitress which item it was on the menu, and went for medium rare. (COSTILLA DE BIFE 50.9 Riverine - New South Wales 600g grain fed rib eye, aged 28 days) The steak was perfect, beautiful char on the outside, fat rendered and yet still medium rare inside. He ended up gnawing the bone. There were no unpleasant gristly bits, no areas where medium-rare turned into blue or well done - this was a beautiful cut of meat, beautifully cooked. I had the lamb cutlets with chimi churri sauce. (CORDERO * 39.9 Adelaide Hills lamb loin cutlets char grilled with green chimi churri) I requested medium and they were cooked just as ordered. Some char on the outside, fat well rendered, these were delightful nuggets of tender lamb, brought to life by the sweet green sauce with a piquant hint of slow heat. Our only side was steak cut chips, which were perfectly crispy golden on the outside with a floury, roast potato mouth feel inside. We accompanied this with a rather morish Pinot by the glass, and followed up with a round of coffees. The waitress then presented us with a complimentary sweet port, which was quite delightful. The coffee was excellent - creamy, no burnt aftertaste, the milk was marshmallowy and it was good enough we went for seconds. These guys do know how to charge, but it's so worth it. This is how beef should be - top quality cuts, aged, eaten and appreciated on occasion. I'd rather pay $50 for a $50 steak than $30 for a $10 steak.

Two hours of loud shouting, at the top of their voices, serial swearing and profanity, airport level decibel noise. The staff were asking them to be quieter. The staff turned the lights completely off, irrespective of other patrons, for the table birthday singing, the shouting went completely over the top, and continued after the lights came back on. Extremely loud. About five other tables immediately emptied leaving, People had had enough. Other patrons like us, couldn't have a conversation due to the loud noise of one table. I did ask to be moved to the front room after an hour, but the staff refused, claiming they were full up. There was vacated table. The food and wine was excellent, but at $400 for two, one should expect that. And expect a decent atmosphere. Not a Hoon Soccer stadium atmosphere, constant swearing at the top of their voices, A decent restaurant would have asked them to leave. I've visited Argentina. And ALL the Argentinian restaurants had extremely polite diners. Usually great atmosphere. Great food. Good dining experience. But not Gauchos in Adelaide. No Tango music, or other atmosphere. No music. Instead loud "Ffff that", "Ffffing hell", "Bullsh*T", "Sh*t" at the top of voices for two hours. When paying the bill, the cashier/manager had a disinterested attitude, "who cares" attitude. I had gone to Gauchos many times in the past years, missed for a few years, it has certainly not improved. Don't dine there.

Orders were efficiently taken, and food was delivered promptly, a testament to a crew of people who obviously work together as a team extremely well. Now, to divulge the secret we found here, in dozens of Italian restaurants all round Adelaide, my wife and I have been searching for a perfect garlic pizza bread - an equal to an absolute favourite we had on the Gold Coast, which was a half hour drive from home and a regular visit just for the one delicacy. Up until now, it's been a thirteen year search, but here, at Belmondo, we found a Garlic pizza to equal the very best - crisp but not brittle pizza bread, lashings of garlic and salt, and just enough oil to bring the whole thing to life on your taste buds - truly, you owe it to yourself to sample this entree, it's the standard for other places to catch. The menu is varied, offering something for everyone. I struggled hugely to bring my choices down from 'one of everything', finally settling on their gnocchi, as it's one dish I struggle with to make a satisfying dish of, myself. My wife went with the atlantic salmon, which has been her current fave for some time - and my oldest daughter (12) went with a nice simple Spaghetti with Meatballs. The gnocchi was divine, the salmon was perfection on a plate, and the spaghetti was just gorgeous, I'd have been happy with it myself, great flavours, generous, melt in your mouth meatballs - we were all hugely impressed. Impressed enough to come back the next night to get a takeaway pizza and another garlic pizza bread. Congrats to the owner - several national awards for steaks and other meals adorn the walls, and restaurant is a testimony to what can be achieved with good ingredients and care when preparing them. Tucked away off Grand Junction Rd in Holden Hill, Belmondo is proof that you don't need to travel into the CBD to experience some truly delightful food. Lunch is Fridays only - and it's very much recommended to book ahead - we haven't been there on a night that's not wall to wall busy.

Approximately once a month myself and some of the lads (there are about 15 regulars now) get together for an onslaught of meat. Needless to say the fairer sex is not permitted due to the manliness required to consume as much meat as we do. My nickname is 'The Surgeon' on account of my preference to cutting all of the fat off before eating. The go is, at the BBQ Inn one must order a minimum of the Mixed Grill which is a porterhouse, lamb shashlik, 3 chevapchichis, a big-ass sausage and some token onion, tomato and potato salad. Any other order must be approved by the Man Meat Members present. Just to paint an even more 'enlightening' picture, mid meal 'dumps' are not uncommon. The first time this wondrous occasion occurred it was my two mates (brothers) and myself. At one point I began to turn white and the waitress was incredibly concerned with my well being. This was my first experience of the 'Meat Sweats', and certainly has not been my last! Anyplace that can give birth to something as amazing as Man Meat Nights has got to be sweet as, and the BBQ Inn is most certainly that! I have noticed the quality of meat has dropped a little in the last few years, but I tend to take a LOOOOONG time to eat my half cow, so if gets a little cold and tough! By the way....if I have inspired you to organise your own Man Meat Group remember that the aftermath is often unpleasant. I'll leave it at that!

Everytime I'm in Adelaide I always try to make at least one visit. First thing you see when you step inside is the bbq's and meat cabinet. Everything is freshly prepared while you wait. Go for the mixed grill as you get a decent selection of meats. You have to get at least one or of chevapchichis as they are amazing. The plates usually come with salad sides and the potato salad is very good. Well worth a visit whenever in the Glenelg area. Haven't had any problems with it but make a reservation just to be sure. Bring your appetite. Service is good and prices are very good.
