I would highly recommend this place first I like to start off by when I forgot my wallet and only had Apple Pay. They let me leave without paying and even though I came back the next day to pay they were still trying to get me to take it for free, which was very nice, also they have some of the best drink options there and there Zatara and my opinion is the best in town. I've been actually going here since I was 18 years old and Zatara is great amongst other things. one time they forgot to heat my meat pies and I was upset about it and they handled it so well gave me the next meal for free, and they just always deal with things and such a graceful manner. My father used to come here and buy all of the delicious breads, the cheese, the meat, and the zatar breads. I would join him back in the day. Now that I am older, I did not realize it was so small. When I was here, they did not have as much fresh bread out, but the menu looked really delicious. I would love to try their shawarmas or the other yummy sounding items. I used to come here as a child with my family and have not been here in years. I moved out of state and have not come to this place again in years and recently just came again while visiting family members in the area. I have to say that I missed the sandwiches here. The chicken shawarma is great and the garlic sauce is delicious.. It's not exactly how I remember it as a child, but my memory could be romanticizing what I used to eat as a child more than anything. I will say that the shwarma is better than anything that I have had in Texas especially the garlic sauce. That garlic sauce...its so delicious! For many, many years cheese bread from Golden Bakery has been the only reason why I come here. But overtime, their cheese bread's quality has declined. The bread used to be hot, fresh, soft, fluffy, and light. Now the bread feels heavier and the outer half is always tougher and chewier (like I am chewing on old gum). Another thing that I believe Golden Bakery should improve on is their to go boxes used for hot foods. The box is poor quality and quickly creates a storage environment that works against the cheese bread's thot temperature. The box absorbs all the heat, becomes flimsy from all the moisture, and it cools the cheese bread instead of keeping it hot and fresh. Golden Bakery needs to go back to how the cheese bread once was. read more

I'm giving them a four stars instead of five simply because their service is not the friendliest. It has changed for the better in the last couple of years, but it seems that anytime you have a larger order they act like it's an inconvenience. I only buy one item from the store and it is the oregano pies (Manaeesh) and I only buy them there not from another bakery in Dearborn is because for some reason after they're frozen, there's are still good when you heat them two months later. The others don't tend to freeze as well. If it wasn't for that one item, I probably would get everything else from down the street. read more

Zaater bread from the brick oven with hummus- my latest obsession. I drive past at least a half dozen Arab bakeries to get to this one. This bread is everything it wants to be! Yummm! Everything I've had tastes better than it looks. The cheesy round breads, the hummus, the stuffed grape leaves. They're all fresh and delicious. Minus one star for the freshness of their salads & gyros. I was there one late night and came back the next midday. The same salad was still there as well as some of the baked goods. The baked goods are acceptable but the gyro meat wasn't moving so it was just sitting there drying out. Ew. This zaater bread keeps me coming back though. They're also open long hours. read more

So cutting straight to the point, this place is no frills and bare bones. It has the ambiance of a restaurant straight from the motherland- the same ceramic, marble- look tiles that pave the floor also adorn the walls. You can order food, and grocery shop, and the tea/ coffee is self serve, and YET, Golden Bakery is a MUST when in Dearborn. Now, the menu may seem daunting. Basically, you can order bakery items, manaeesh, two ways: regular or mashrooh. Mashrooh just means your item will be on thinner, longer bread. I recommend the meat pie mashrooh and a split zaatar and akawi. If you are ordering hummus or foul, be prepared for a ridiculous, unreasonably large "small". Worth it, but enough for a small army. The chicken shawarma sandwich is delicious, arguably one of the best shawarmas you can purchase in America. My only reason for 4 stars is service, but then again, you aren't really paying for service. Prices are extremely generous and you will not be disappointed! read more

I got into Dearborn and I immediately wanted mnaeesh since it's known for being a Lebanese town. We got to Golden Bakery at 6pm and knew nothing would be fresh since it is usually made in the morning but I didn't care because I was so excited. We ordered a cheese and meat manoosheh and a chicken shawarma sandwich. The cheese was on such a thick bread which I guess is the style here. I prefer my manoosheh on thin bread but their meat one was flavorful and on thin bread so it had a great crunch. The chicken shawarma sandwich was great and had a lot of garlic which of course is delicious. My favorite place in Dearborn! Hands down the best fatayer anywhere! Every time I'm in town from Chicago this is where I go! I get a large order of cheese, meat, and zaatar pies and freeze them. They heat up so nicely in the oven and taste almost just as good when they were fresh! I usually get the big fatayer but you can get the mini ones which they have many kinds of fatayer to choose from. Also this place has a ton of parking and is very affordable! If I had to say list any cons it would be to make sure you go early to get your lies before they sell out later in the day and also the service is just alright. After hearing so many rave reviews from friends about Golden Bakery, I decided to stop and pick up a late lunch to take home. My feelings on the whole experience were mixed, at best. When I walked in, it was hard to tell if they had just opened, were remodeling or what was going on. It was a ghost town, and the lack of internal decor and overhead lighting was odd. I definitely fall on the carry-out side of the coin, rather than the dining-in side due to the lack of pleasing atmosphere. The service wasn't so hot. I waited in line behind the only other customer, a gentleman who was finishing paying for his take-out order. After he walked away, I stepped up to the counter to place my order, and the staff just walked away, chatting with one another as if they didn't see me. About a minute and a half later, the cashier returned and asked if he could help me. I'm not sure if there was a language barrier or just a breakdown in communication, but I had to repeat my order and the fact that it was for carryout 4 different times. In the 5 minutes or so that I stood off to the side waiting for my order, the staff behind the counter that were not involved in getting my food together just stood there and stared at me, unmoving and silent. Seriously, totally uncomfortable. I nodded and smiled at them to be polite, and got no response whatsoever. The food itself was average. I got chicken shawarma wraps (not bad, but not great) and an order of the rice with lentils and onions (which was in all honesty, chewy and rather bland.) The highlight was the baked pita bread which was folded over and stuffed with cheese and spices. That, was actually the one redeeming thing about the whole experience. Final summation: I don't get the hype about this place, but to each their own. Should another shawarma craving hit, I'd definitely take Cedarland or Bucharest Grill over this place. I first came to this place after a long night out and we enjoyed grape leaves and other small eats. On a more recent trip I had lunch there twice! Their lamb shawarmas are some of the best I've had and their falafel and grape leaves are twice the size of anything i've seen here in FL. They also have this bread that cheese in it that is absolutely delicious. If you are hungry during the day or can't go home hungry after a long night this bakery is for you. Seems this place has gone under new management. Some of the reviews mention this in a negative way. I personally thought the old management needed to go a long time ago. They were famous for their dry, plain, blah attitudes. The new guys are doing alright in my opinion. As with any bakery I go to, I avoid all the items I display. Not sure how long they've been there. Too many people walking by them, sniffing around, breathing on the food. Nasty! Yet all bakeries do it. Still makes no sense how they can legally get away with it. Best bakery in town . I have tried all all bakery's in Dearborn nothing compared to the golden bakery

Delicious meat pies, cheese pies, spinach pies, zaatar pies.. One of their desserts I didn't like, I don't know the name but it's in the shape of a ball, covered in a hard shell chocolate, the texture inside is kinda ick.. You can see and taste some nuts.. But it's definitely not a dessert I would try to eat again. I bought two of them, I couldn't even finish an entire one.. I'm thinking only way to consume it, seriously, is to throw it into the blender with a protein shake in hopes the other flavors stand waaaaay out and this dessert just stays unnoticeable. Hence my 4/5 star rating. But customer service is fast, you better know what you want by the time you get up to the register, the line moves quickly. read more
